Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I anticipate this case setting a benchmark to the end of outrage and cancel culture.
I wouldn't get too optimistic for two reasons.

In the bigger picture, this shitshow is just a blip on the radar of social media cancer. This ain't exactly a wideplace topic of discussion outside of the anime fandom. Even if we chalk up the relative lack of discussion on mainstream platforms to self-censorship, it still implies the same result that the impact of this event is suppressed whether we like it or not.

Also, while KV has shot themselves in the genitals repeatedly and has lost already, this doesn't stop people from being willfully ignorant and repeating the same nonsense.

Which isn't to say we won't get desirable results, such as Funimation likely being legally obligated to reevaluate their priorities. Also we do at least know that reasonable autism is a very powerful thing, even in the face of unsalvageable autism.

I don't think any of us are expecting statues to be erected or parades down 5th avenue. It's more a case that when people look back academically, this case will be among those mentioned as important to returning a more sane approach to life in the digital area.

It probably won't be 'the' case to do any one 'historic' thing, but I think time will show it's true import.

You can tell we're dealing with alpha-weebs on the other side. "THIS ISN'T EVEN MY BULLSHIT'S FINAL FORM!"

It's more telling that this is where their mindset is at.

"Well, at least we destroyed him. Even if he wins this he's not coming back to Funi or RT, and other studios (since we'll be whisper networking them) won't hire him either."

Spoiler alert: As Nick and Ty mentioned on stream last night, the SECOND they can, Funimation is firing Monica, Jamie, their Social Media guy, and probably a few others. They won't do it during the lawsuit (as doing so would harm them by admitting wrongdoing), but expect some MAJOR chimpouts in the future about that. 6th Bulma!

(Sony themselves are going to purge Funimation, as discussed before. They already have a localization studio -- Aniplex. Thanks to this lawsuit, every single person at Funimation made themselves not only redundant, but a liability.)
It makes sense to fire them, and its crazy to think that 2 rogue VAs and an incompetent HR rep will be tipping point for
100 or so people to lose their jobs. You'd think they'd dot their i's if they knew their new master Sony was watching them,
but they still fucked it up.

Can I ask a question here? Why are so many of these people connected to pedos? That seems statistically impossible...
When in doubt always keep this chart handy. It never fails.
I prefer this helpful comic

I don't understand why Funi havent already distanced themselves from Marchi and Rial. Absolute best case scenario is they are more trouble than they are worth from a harmony point of view, worst case scenario their shenaghins are going to cost Funi upward of many hundreds of thousands in legals fees and damages.

Their court filings have pretty much done as much as they can, basically saying that Marchi and Rial just did whatever without Funi saying anything and they had nothing to do with it. They can't really fire them at this point, since it would really, really look bad if this goes to trial. So they're basically just stuck in a holding pattern until the case resolves. They'll almost certainly be quietly shuffled out the door at the earliest convenience afterward, though.

Because you have an idiot/s at the top that know full well that a big chunk of the staff will sabotage the company as soon as the hammer drops...but like every other SJW, he/they think they are the chosen ones that are smart enough to have all things all ways that benefit them. They arent smart enough to realize that SONY will use them to be the hatchetmen who will take the brunt of the twittermob rage and bad media. And they are too egotistical to see that once they are left with no choice but extermanitus, they will be left on the planet when the mothership drops that one final virus bomb. On them.

Sony then puts out a presser saying that they were forced to 'restructure' due to bad management at Funi and terminate a mere two or three people at the top. The other scalps will of course be on the 'restructured' management.

It can look like an admission of guilt to drop them during the proceedings. About 2 weeks after, win or lose, they're gone.

Win or lose, these idiots have cost them in the low six figures already and possibly more. The only way they get any of that back is to win the TCPA outright.

Unless Im wrong, which is very possible, the atyorneys fees recovered are only related to the tcpa filing itself. Not the depisition, motions, etc. That is a drop in the bucket of stupid costs.

They might already be distancing themselves. There's been talk in this thread of Monica stating in her depo something to the effect of she hasn't had as much work lately. Of course that could be the result of fighting a legal battle.

Plus, I also remember talks of them not being cast in any current/upcoming Funi or CR shows, or some shit like that.

Much in the same way that firing her during the proceedings looks like guilt, keeping her active puts them in slightly greater risk of vicarious liability. Limbo for the bimbo is the wisest move for them.

Yup, this exactly. They won't flat out fire her, instead they'll just stop returning her calls and let her figure it out after she goes a month or two without any work whatsoever.

Expect her to lose her shit on Twitter when she realizes. Maybe we'll get really lucky and she'll try and organize a woke lynch mob against Funimation or Sony over it.

I have no doubt they told her shes going to remain unused during the case. But Im sure she thinks its just temporary.

A wall isnt made from a single brick, but by many. US law is based on precedent. It's why other similar cases are brought forward as evidence. The intention, I presume, is to minimize the changes to the interpretation of laws that come when a new generation of judges replaces the old. Consistency over changing drastically with each generation.

Sure, it's a drop in the bucket now, but when someone else's life is destroyed similar to how Vic's was. What ever lawyer they'd hire would pull up this case and use its outcome to assist their own

😈😈😈 She will be fired, cursed and doomed by then after the first lawsuit.

I know we aren't supposed to conspire to do stuff off-site but, if she does get fired does that mean we can go to Twitter and change our names to #MonicaIsStillFired ?

Edit because people are too smoothbrain to realize: This was a joke.
