The most galling thing here, is that game journalists were just up in fucking arms about criticism the Ooblets dev team got after they went Epic exclusive and after they posted a condescending message to the fans. I'm not gunna pretend the team didn't get some harassment or hateful messages, they did, but by and large, it was just criticism. And journalists lost their collective shit. They painted gamers as toxic and this and that and they rallied behind the idea that developers shouldn't face abuse.

Fast forward one fucking week

And now you have a writer (Valens) literally delving into the accounts the Ion Fury developers follow on Twitter, while they also make up baseless claims of transphobia and other nonsense, and starting a campaign to deplatform them. ResetEra even had the audacity to suggest contacting their employers to "make sure they don’t infect other projects."

This is a legit campaign to abuse and bully devs because they said things some people didn't like. But every journalist is gunna keep their fucking mouths shut, or worse, jump on the bandwagon. I'll bet my left nut that Kotaku has something condemning the developers by Monday. They are hypocritical fucking assholes and I'm actually mad...

Game Journalists, by a vast majority, are failed English/Communications/X Studies majors who are so incompetent they cannot get a writing job anywhere else. Literally anywhere else. It is no secret in the writing world that Game websites are bottom of the barrel.

So you have this extreme bitterness at what they're doing. They loathe games and their audience and try to 'make a difference'. Thing is all they really amount to are paid shills who can't influence shit. They're also really fucking bitter YouTubers and streamers have way more influence and make tons more than they do, which is why they constantly shit on YouTube.

This game is going to sell no matter what and Steam has already implemented anti-review bomb features (remember when these guys whined about review bombing and now do it themselves? Too bad they fucked up).

And what is ResetERA's idea for a female protagonist?

Resetera doesn't live rent free in anyone's head. Resetera is like a mild headache, it's annoying at best but not something you lose any sleep over. The entertainment value is high enough that multiple communities have formed around the internet to mock them. And yet that tells them nothing because like this very website is a unequivocal testament to, lolcows have 0 self-awareness. On top of that they try to fish the hypocrisy angle like 'we're not the snow flakes, you are!!!' which fools nobody but those who were already on the fool train. If there was a way to agree more than once, I would.

For years we've been told by the games press and sites like ResetEra that review bombing is the tactic of the alt-right entitled gamergate nazis, but here was are in Current Year + whatever we're up to, and they are doing the exact same thing for mostly the same reason. Devs won't listen to them, so they resort to hitting them where they'd feel it, in the review score.

But like you said, ResetEra and others have fucked themselves over. All that Reeeeeing about PewDiePie fans review bombing Firewatch and now they want to do it to Ion Fury, they can't. Both because they lack the number (SJWs don't buy games) and because of the system they demanded be put in place would stop them.
