Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I generally dislike the constant injection of "Dark, Gritty Angst" into media it doesn't belong but...
But I'd like to see Obi-Wan moving to Tattoine and having to accept that he could grab his light saber and just murder his way through Mos Eisley and the Hutts and everyone's lives would be better for it...but he can't, because if he does, the Empire will find him and find Luke. Just really drill home how much Kenobi has sacrificed to keep Luke safe.

Of course, a) that wouldn't adapt well to a mini-series. and b) would fly against the new "Original Characters are expendable as we kill them off willy-nilly to avoid paying Lucas" direction Disney's taking.

The schizophrenic problem of an Obi-Wan storyline is that you can either make a movie that makes sense -or- it's a movie that will give people Obi-Wan.
If you have it make sense, it'll mean Obi-Wan won't do any Obi-Wan-things (which means you might as well make an entirely different movie with an entirely different character), or you have him do Jedi-stuff and it makes no sense why he wasn't detected.

Edit:

Also 20 bucks on IX containing a retcon, where they say that it was Palpatine who sorta possessed Luke to almost kill Emo Ren, just to further disown the failure of TLJ.
They'll claim that Luke countered this by seperating himself from the Force and going into hiding, trying to spin Ruin's bullshit so AssholeLuke was actually doing a noble sacrifice or whatever...
Shitstains like MovieBlob and Dobson will eat it up, though.

Got some fail news lined up.

First off, here's something I just found out but has apparently been known for a while now. The last Thrawn book was completely leaked not just by critics who were given a preview reading (which I posted before and spoke about all the plot lines) but on Amazon's preview feature, effectively making it so anyone who was actually gonna buy this thing read it for free online. And now Disney's other newest shitty book, the Vi Moradi one that's supposed to explain more about Black Spire has also been completely leaked on Amazon. You can all read it for yourselves if you have an Amazon account and criticize it to Hell and back or if you want I can try and give you a summary of the Hell within. But in short, its horribly meh and is just a glorified advertisement for the park and IX.

(Note: Cerea was Ki-Adi Mundi's home planet, but its just in the book and won't be in IX)

This book also double confirms that IX is about the Resistance trying to rebuild itself while fighting off the FO. Anyway, this is the second time a major SW book has been leaked this year.

In other news, Formula Money (the cheap new british sports media studio Disney is using for making new SW projects on a budget while pushing Lucasfilm tards over there) made an announcement on Twitter that may reveal that they're the ones working on the Kenobi miniseries for Disney+... Oh joy...

AND FINALLY Florida's Galaxy's Edge park has opened, but only as a reservation thing for Annual Passholders aaaaand... its exactly the same as the California one... The same in every single way... With no unique merchants or actors or anything exciting... And Vi Moradi and nu-troopers (which are actually security guards) are the only meet&greets. The only real difference is that this park actually looks CHEAPER. For one, the droids (the ones outside) don't move at all or even move their heads, they just stand there like statues.. and there's no expensive pirate Hondo animatronic in the Millennium Falcon ride! The 10 million dollar robot is fucking gone! And there's no sign of Chewbacca or anyone familiar, just new troopers and Vi. This park is fucking cheaper and enthusiasm is dead on arrival.

Here's video coverage.
Much like the California one's reservation period, there was a huge line for entering the park on the first day but near the end of the day things start to look more lifeless.

So in short, Florida's Star Wars park is actually inferior to the California one...

How can they be this incompetent yet greedy at the same time? If the royalties issue is true, it shouldn’t be that hard to pay Lucas to do. If not, why are they being incompetent with the characters they are supposed to own.

If I had to guess then I would say that the MCU and the initial success of TFA and Rogue One made Iger/Disney think they were invincible and now the mismanagement and greed are coming back to bite them in the ass.

Have a good chance to make a fortune off one, if not the most known intellectual property worldwide, but be forced to give George 25% of it or ruin said intellectual property and make no money at all, but don't be forced to give George 25% of it.

I'd almost claim that Disney execs are not only spiteful assholes, but also stupid assholes.

WTF? The Hondo animatronic was the only thing that was impressive! When I saw video of the animatronic, I really thought it was a “cast member” wearing an outfit. And now they’ve replaced him with some video instead.
Great going, Disney. Let’s remove the one thing Disney parks excel in from the new theme park.

They're incompetent because they have a massive case of hubris after decades of being too liquid to fail, and greedy because financial consequences for their missteps is looming large for the first time in years.

You don't have to worry about shitty upkeep on an audioanimatonic if you just replace it with a screen

I’m no MCU fan, but you can’t replicate its DNA into another different franchise and that’s one of the problems the Disney era has had alongside like you said mismanagement and greed. It’s worth noting that unlike the MCU, whose films more or less match each other’s box office, none of the proceeding films since Force Awakens had surpass nor match its box office.

The thing is that the MCU would never have worked with random characters; it worked because it had this huge backlog of stories to draw off of to excite fans of the comics, and let them essentially do your marketing for you. Star Wars doesn't have that sort of goodwill reserve to tap... anymore, since Disney nuked the EU and replaced it with magic space whales.

It something that Midnight’s Edge was pointing out a while ago. Disney saw the potential that Feige was doing with the launch of the MCU and this was a driving factor in their acquisition in Marvel Entertainment, afterwards they wanted him to continue his own thing but with their massive resources to help get his plan the financial needs had to have.

Lucasfilm’s acquisition, on the other hand, was based entirely on the success on the SW brand. Now, they always had the difficult task of making a proper sequel trilogy given how ROTJ tied up loose ends, but they could’ve build something off of the EU. Instead, they nuked it and made their own shitty EU with insufferable characters and cringy plots.

I saw this on Twitter earlier. It's from the Dr Aphra comics and apparently they have no editor to proof-read the scripts.

It's even funnier when you learn the context: Aphra tried to sell Vader out to the Emperor. Let that resonate in your skull.

And the Emperor's reaction is 'Holy shit, son, I Am Pleased. About time you started running your own side games. Let's go talk about what you did right and wrong here.'

(This makes sense; the Sith are very much hardcore social Darwinists if I'm not mistaken. And Vader is a major investment for the Emperor.)

I never understood why they felt the need for a Dr. Aphra series. OK, I can buy her being lucky enough to escape being whacked by Vader (and she did it by bribing the shit out of the evil Wookiee); but after that, she should've headed off to the proverbial Parts Unknown and never shown her face in known space again until after Vader was gone. But no, we get plucky, quirky Dr. Aphra, surviving brush after brush with Imperial soldiers despite the fact that sooner or later, her name would pop up on someone's analysis spreadsheet.

Apparently Star Wars needs Lesbian People of Color. And that’s a good thing. And something something GLAAD Media Awards nominations something something.

How embarrassing.

And here's a video with SW toys on clearance from the Clownfish guy.

Also here's an article from a site parodying Bleeding Cool disproving the whole "Disney Wars haters are a minority" argument.

Dunno if anyone saw this yet

First of all, Matpat is an autistic plagiarist who churns out shit tier garbage for preteens.
Secondly, no. Rey Sue is the Sueist Sue that ever Sued her way through the Galaxy. You might say that Aphra or Morandi or Holdo are worse, but none are nearly as central to the Sequels as Sue Prime, Rey. Rey having any failure whatsoever is impossible.

Remember that it was Abrams who started with Rey as a Sue. Jonson's Rey Sue was actually simply stupid powerful in one area, not all of them.

What financial consequences? For what?
