Every place in that diatribe where he says "we", replace it with "I". What a goddamned arrogant jackass. I swear to god this guy is infuriating. He fucking steals women's races while doing the absolute bare minimum because he's a male and now instead of just bragging about his wins he's got to start bragging about how easy it was for him too.
I want to fite him irl
He says "A big week for us is around 12 hours." So, that's 1.7 hours per day
maximum. Lord knows his average is probably way less.
Google "how many hours per day do elite athletes train" and
you get 25 hrs/week for female Olympic skiers, 48 hrs/week for female Olympic speed skaters, four hours per day on the ice plus additional off-ice workouts for figure skaters,
32 hours per week for Simone Biles,
5-6 hours per day six days per week for Michael Phelps,
2 hours on bike six days per week plus 3x weekly weight training for Lance Armstrong,
five or six days a week off-season for pro hockey player Connor McDavid doing "conditioning, cardio, agility and speed work...a lot of deadlifts and squatting" (I mention this because Rhys specifically said that pro hockey players train less than 20 hrs/week).
Two hours per day six days per week in the gym plus three hours or more per week practicing events for powerlifter Zydrunas Savickas.
All of this is very strange because Rhys claims that the human body "simply can't handle" training schedules like the above. If I didn't know better, I'd think our internationally renowned elite super sports athlete might be just SLIGHTLY full of shit.
Also,
@SourDiesel, right on for pointing out the hilarity of his pronoun selection. "
We need lots of sleep!" Oh wow Rhys, thank you for opening yourself up for this intimate look into the world of pro athletes. How enlightening.
