Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

The Canto Bight station hotel for Galaxy's Edge will not only be an exclusive shit hole but cost $1000 a night?!
After the massive failure of GE, how could they think this is a good idea?

I've discussed the Hotel in detail before along with all its likely false promises on page 538 for those who want to know more about the Hotel's clusterfuck.

This is madness. Who would this even be for? Who the fuck has that kind of money to just blow on being locked up for the weekend with a bunch of theatre school rejects in discount Chinese made costumes?

1k a night for being in an area based on a movie that only the shills desperate for access backed? And for a part of the movie that is ranked in the top 3 for the worst part of said film, and one of the worst things of all time?

Iger, yer a fucking nut.

Not surprising, Disney and FOX are in a slap fight.

.
The fucked up news just won't stop

The man must be ridiculously overconfident to the point of insanity or he has legitimate brain damage. Either that or he's so rich now that he no longer gives a shit whether or not the company tanks. Just how... HOW did anyone think this is a good idea?! Why are they out to completely fuck up SW and Disney's reputation? The parks were the only consistently good thing about them yet now... I have no fucking words.

To me, he will be known as the man who killed 20th Century Fox and Star Wars.

If patterns Hold Episode IX will make less then TLJ
I see ten possibilities

1. The movie makes more money than TLJ but less than TFA

2. The movie makes around the same that TLJ did

3. The movie makes less than TLJ did but still turns a minor profit

4. The movie Breaks even

5. The movie flops but not to a serious degree

6.The movie is a Justice League level bomb

7. The movie makes Justice League look like a box office hit

8. The Movie flops so much that it sets in motion a chain of events that severely cripple Disney perhaps permanently

9. the above mentioned chain of events lead to the death of the Disney Corporation. Bob Iger will look upon the wreckage of Disney contemplating the decisions that led to this point as he raises a handgun to his mouth

I see Amazon acquiring either all of Disney or just the Fox assets only in two to three years time. Hell, even MovieBob, the dimwitted landmass he is, thinks Amazon could be the one buy Disney one day. If that happens, Bob Iger or the next CEO will be out for good and will be remembered as the one who let Disney be sold to Amazon.

EDIT:
Hey @GeneralFriendliness, get this. Apparently Galaxy’s Edge was supposed to be based on the original trilogy, but it was changed to the sequel trilogy after Bob Iger saw footage of TFA.

I actually see Ep9 making a lot of money just due to the fact that it's the last in the trilogy ("fans" will see it as well as many haters who want to see how this disaster unfolds). Which is unfortunate because I want to see this shit crash and burn like it deserves.

I cannot fucking wait for the trash fire to start. How sad is it that we've reached the point where I am looking more forward to reactions to the movie, than the movie itself?

I'm only going to watch Episode IX for three main reasons:
  • To wrap up the trilogy and be skeptical of anything else SW-related that Disney releases moving forward,
  • To see just how much of a trash fire it turns out to be, even with the reshoots, and
  • To see how many people shill the film as the greatest SW work that's ever been produced to date.

After the massive failure of GE, how could they think this is a good idea?
"Disney", "Star Wars", and "Good idea" are mutually exclusive. You may pick no more than two of those ideas at one time.

If lolcow Bex Gerber lived in Florida, I'd say this was tailor-made for her spendthrift ways. Who knows, maybe she'd still fly out there to waste spend $1000/night on an overpriced Disney theme hotel.

Only Bex or SW spergs and shills with a lot of spare cash seem to be the ultimate target audience. An average fan or fans with a family certainly won't be plunking down that kind of cash for a novelty hotel.

I felt the same with Solo, but that didn’t even grossed $400 million worldwide and now I’m skeptical as hell with IX. The only big previews for D23 are the Mandalorian trailer. I doubt they’ve have something big for IX.

At the very least if Disney ever invests any money in a marketing blitz I think it'll have a good first weekend. Even my friends who hated the Last Jedi are proving difficult to convince that we should wait a week, and see if the experience would be improved watching a cam torrent at my place so we can get drunk and lampoon the movie. This isn't Solo, where the movie came out in the spring among a shitload of better blockbusters to go see, Episode IX is so bereft of competition in December that the journalists with a reputation for endlessly shilling for Disney are trying to claim the Sonic movie counts as serious competition to downplay expectations.

My thinking is Episode IX be mainly between 700 million to 900 million in box office earnings. I legit see it becoming a disappointment that earns a mediocre profit given they're still reshooting.

I can see it go higher, and I can even see it go lower, but I can't see it cross too much over 1.000 B because of other shit that could suck oxygen out of it (Frozen 2 and Dinosaur Autism 3), and it is the conclusion of a trashfire trilogy, meaning it will probably see more asses in seats than Soylo so I can't see it dip too much below 700 mil.

But if I'm surprised and it flops, fuck yeah. If it does better then expected, eh.

Watched the video. It apparently does make sense that GE was initially OT-themed. Especially when using the pics and info I was sent along with the earliest pics of the park under construction. One of the first things that were built were sandy-looking huts and two AT-ATs, and one thing the video mentions that really caught my interest is the placement of the Cantina and the Falcon. Judging from what they said and based on the pics I have and the bird's eye view pictures of the park, their placement is almost identical to the placement of Docking Bay 94 and Chalmun's Cantina on Mos Eisly, and the docking bay for the Falcon as well as the interior of the Cantina are both reminiscent of their respective Tatooine counterparts. The docking area even seems to have a similar layout to the old EU map of Docking Bay 94's interior sections.

Despite the overabundance of sequel/disney crap at the park, this would explain all the randomly tossed around OT and EU Easter eggs that feel more like leftovers. This also fits with accounts from disgruntled lower rank imagineers who claimed they wanted to do a pre-Disney park but were told to stick to sequel shit. The fact that the park was in construction even before TFA shows that they did start off pre-Disney, especially with articles stating that the designers of the park traveled to the middle east to study buildings despite that the park doesn't have a desert theme now, but to think that it was all undone because Bob Iger just waltzed on in and said that "this TFA shit looks like its gonna be bigger than that shitty OT! Focus on a TFA park instead!" is just so freaking scummy that its sickening.

Also here's the article the video covered.
