Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I'm considering compiling something along these lines, have an outline sketched out and it seems doable. At the very least we need one to put all the court filings in one place.

But I don't know how the forum rules and how it's supposed to work, if that kind of thread would be considered redundant with this thread itself.

I was (am?) the OP of the lawsuit thread. The one that would normally have all the filings in the OP. I had to stop before all the TCPAs were filed. So it's really stale.

I specifically said (months ago) I am too sick to continue being a steward of it, and that if the mods wanted to transfer ownership of it to somebody else (for editing the OP), I wouldn't complain in the slightest.

I don't think I ever heard back from @emspex or anyone.

Basically, if there's any complaints here, I don't want them on my head. It genuinely can't be helped on my end.

I know, wasn't trying to criticize you. The court filing thing is just the one that slowed me down the most as I do posts from multiple devices where I don't have them downloaded.

What I think we need is something additional to the lawsuit thread, which should remain focused on the suit and law specifically. A list that tracks all the stories that are still being thrown around on Twitter, without entering the lawsuit yet. Things like Bret Weaver's "confirmation" of the 2007 Mari Iijima stalking incident, which then got disproved by pictures from the panel.

That probably won't ever make it into an affidavit in the lawsuit, but it's worth keeping track of as we continue to pick apart Lynn Hunt's affidavit, plus her 3-4 friends online who keep trying to confirm it. Right now a lot of that debunking is happening in Lynn's thread, and only some of it makes it over here, and probably none of it will make it into the lawsuit thread (unless BHBH uses it to attack the affidavit directly).

So, between this thread, the lawsuit thread, and the weekly summaries that get posted, I don't know if people would consider a dedicated allegations list to be redundant. If not, I can start putting one together and let people rip it apart for insufficient autism. I don't want to split up the discussion even further, but a centralized list with links to other threads, keeping minimal discussion on the contents itself (similar to the Doxemon thread), could be useful.

Tbh, even though I'm mostly a sub watcher, I don't get what everyone hypes up the Subs for. Besides getting the material in its purest form (apart from Manga) without adding in some stupid changes, I really don't think they're all as good as sub elitists make it out to seem. I mean, I'm in no way saying that the Dub actors are superior to them, but there are certain nuances and tones that don't translate well across the cultural and language barriers. That TotallyNotMark video I posted earlier where he compares the Dub and sub show that.
I'm not the best to answer as i've only seen older dubs and haven't really watched newer ones. The biggest reason for me is bad line reads and voices, it's much harder for me to tell bad VA in another language compared to English. Bad line reads and (what i consider) bad voices are like nails on a chalkboard and can turn me off a dub instantly. A smaller reason is due to the smaller talent pool (at least at the time) so everybody sounded the same across different shows.

We've (mostly @5t3n0g0ph3r) been turning Null's Weeb Wars sticky thread into an update thread and all of the filings get linked there. So don't worry about it too much, they are still easy to find without delving through the LLP thread.

Just go ahead and make one specifically for housing all of the documents. I'd really appreciate it since I like to reference the various filings or other documents from time to time and it's a pain digging through various threads to find all of them and then keeping track of the posts where someone made a ToC which you need if you're going to wade through something like MoRonica's TCPA. Bookmarks can't be rearranged to my knowledge so even that eventually gets messy. I've thought of doing something like that myself, but mostly haven't just because it would be a lot of work.

As long as the thread and particularly the OP is high quality no one is going to get mad at you for doing it. If the rules are vague or loose, it's probably because no one wants to spend their time managing this place more than they have to and having huge lists of rules only generates more autistic idiocy than it prevents. Just make sure to keep it updated regularly or it turns into detritus in turn.

It’s weird; I never liked Young’s take on Frieza but I liked her Genkai, despite practically being the same voice.

Probably because Genkai is the old woman that her voice sounds like. I like Frieza with that raspy old woman voice, but visually there's no reason to assume it necessarily would be, so matter of taste, really.

Maybe it's because I'm Japanese, but English VAs and anime don't mesh together for me (with some exceptions, of course).

Shane is such a bitch.
He comes here egging people to fight him and when people don't, he tweets "THIS IS WHY VIC ISN'T WANTED!!! REEEEE!!!"
You know that one kid who would always throw his controller down and say it’s busted when losing at Mario Kart?
That’s basically Shane’s MO; try to start shit, throw a tantrum when it doesn’t go his way, and still find a way to make it other people’s fault.

I would ask why us not fighting has to do with vic being wanted, but then again he has a blackhole for where his brain should be. Also recent events showed vic is still wanted more than probably the kv va's combined.

Can you imagine being so utterly pathetic that people just point and laugh when you enter a room? I've met some real losers in my life but when you can't even bullshit your way on the internet regardless of what group you try attaching yourself to, that is a truly special kind of worthless.

Hello Kiwis! I did a thing! Here is the link! I hope you enjoy it or at least find it interesting! 🐧 🐙

Hey I did not know you worked with scott. How was he to work with? I actually like him as a VA and he seems cool in interviews.
