Voltron Fandom - Bury your gays!

I hate what this fucking show turned into around season 3. I keep hearing that the writers wanted to do space opera with an ensemble cast more than a sci fi action series and if that is true then it shows.

Keith is a fucking cunt by the way. Last I left him he was an asocial prick that the writers kept on insisting had leadership qualities as heir to Shiro that he never once demonstrated. I don’t know if that changed in the coming seasons but I’m not interested in finding out.
Considering how they originally debuted Allura as den mother to Shiro’s den father (whatever the hell you want to call it) I can’t fathom why she wasn’t naturally pegged to fly the Black Lion.
It would have given the character something to do and prevented the musical chair lions that had to occur in order to shuffle the pilots around in order to force Keith into being the leader. Totally negating the whole journey everyone took bonding with their respective lions in the first place.

Can someone explain to me why the writers felt they needed to cater to the SJW crowd in the first place and continue to do so?
Especially after one of them tried to blackmail studio Mir.
I’d have intentionally written Shiro as straight after that or bisexual out of spite. Him marrying Allura after dating a man would have generated so much Salt crops would have died for miles.

Where the hell is their sense of self respect and indignation?

Do they like being harassed???

Mostly I blame DreamWorks. Originally, Keith is the Voltron Force leader, DW for some reason wanted to sell the Shiro character than sticking to the established script.

That’s another thing that frustrates me about all this salt. It’s very clear that DreamWorks was dicking around with the series, leaving the writers with their hands tied storywise. And judging by what some She Ra writers said, it’s not unique to Voltron. Yet the fanbase never notices that and simply pin everything on JDS and LM.
There’s nothing wrong with criticism but this goes beyond bad faith arguments.

Korrasami, no build up and just ended in hand holding, writers had to confirm it online = “Good”

Shiro, is revealed as gay within the show events, gets married and kisses a man on screen = “Bad”

The mental gymnastics behind this one are beyond me.

They don’t really want gay characters out in the open if that was to happen they can’t cry about representation or thinking about two boys being all naughty. It’s all about the taboo and fetishising sexuality.

That sounds like closeted homosexual ideologues that I thought we left behind in the 80s. Guess some folks really are just THAT afraid to come out of the closet.

It's a shame this person doesn't seem to have been active for a while, their Twitter is chock-full with hilarious and entitled tantrums that show EXACTLY why rabid Sheith fans ended up as some of the worst cunts in the fandom as a whole.

There's a lot more to see there, but I'm too lazy to screencap them all. The last one's especially hypocritical because Sheith "fans" like this one are among the most manipulative and whiny shits I've seen in fandom in a LONG time, but they insist on playing victim while treating EVERYONE who doesn't love them like crap and calling ALL the Keith/Lance fans abusers and referring to ALL Shiro/Curtis fans as straight when they're not. :story:

These fangirls are too lazy and cowardly to directly go against Dreamworks,. plus they know they won't be taken seriously by them. So their other way out is to be shits to JDS and LM, becayse they don't dare scream at the company but they can feel brave by screeching at individual creators.

I love how Sheith and Matt/N7 are somehow comparable. It's not like the latter pair were mostly in the background the whole time and just a cute little side addition of "Aww, Matt fell in love with technology"...OH WAIT.

And there were some callouts and harassment of Dreamworks for a while, but that died down when Lauren and Joaquim revealed that no, they never DID film the precious oh so secret ending that catered to their retarded fangirl dreams.

The thing is, Dreamworks did meddle and demand things from LM and JDS. Each side had their own vision for how Voltron was meant to be-DW wanted Shiro the Hero to steal the show, while LM and JDS wanted him to be the sacrificial lion like in the original GoLion so Keith could grow into leadership. See, when you make an animated show or any show at all you kinda have to, y'know, cooperate and compromise with other people. Shit happens. VLD wasn't perfect but it was what it was and fans didn't like being reminded that it wasn't theirs.

That’s all shitty and all but my original rant, all rated mad at the internet and all, asked why make Shiro gay in the first place?

It just seems like they were trying to throw a bone to the woke crowd and all it did was make them rabid.

I don’t believe for a second Shiro was planned to be gay.

Considering the crowd they are pandering to, I doubt they intended Shiro to be gay back when they planned to kill him off for real, it seems like an after thought to make Shiro seem less insignificant and useless to the narrative as well to get recognition from the woke crowd.

As it turns out, the whole scene with Adam and Shiro was supposed to be longer and more explicit about their relationship, with them sharing an apartment and giving more info on Adam’s character. What many assume to be WEP stepped in and said “No homo”. So Adam was scaled down to be Shiro’s best friend and killed off in battle. It wasn’t until Bex Taylor-Klaus spoke up that he was changed back into being his lover but it happened so late in production that “bury your gays” happened.
Between studio interference and rabid fans wanting rep their way (read: shipping), it wouldn’t surprise me that the showrunners never try LGBT rep again. And you know what; they’re better off not trying at all.

And apparently, the Adam and Shiro scene was supposed to be aired during S2 (the one where Shiro dies at the end) and not s7, but the tug-of-war between DW/WEP (who wanted Adam to be simply Shiro's roomie) and the staff (who wanted them to be boyfriends) pushed it aside further and further.

So yeah, it seems Shiro was intended to be gay from the very start or at least from before his "death" episode was aired, but then Shit Happened.

"Sheith was totally canon you guys it had to be why else would Shiro be so soft to Keith in S2?????" round 500something.

It's been almost nine months. The length of time it takes to gestate a human baby. The length of the average school year. These people are still trying to be relevant and it's so fucking hilarious.

Never underestimate the insane womanchildren shippers who hold grudges against fictional characters and sometimes at the creators themselves. Look no further than Digimon's Tai/Sora ship for a good idea of the least number of years you should expect butthurt fujoshit to whine about their sunken ship in a kids' show about mechs in space. The overlap between the Voltron fandom and militant shippers is so tight that I think we're seeing new colors bleeding through.

Yeah, before the ONLY reason Shiro would be kind and gentle to Keith is because he wants to bang him. It's like these "fans" actually believe in homophobic propaganda of the "gay guys cannot think of other men as anything but prospect lays and always prey on them" and think it's oh so ~progressive.

I mean, I quite like the ship on its own but this kind of reach is getting ridiculous. Plus imo the most accurate canon reading is that Keith IS in love with Shiro, but unlike fangirls believe, he does NOT expect Shiro to love him back. Because, yanno, he seems to know better than being some clingy and sniffy bastard who think he's entitled to his best friend's dick.

I do look forward to the Sheith buttrage in December, though. Since these baby bitches actually celebrated one-year anniversary of the "I love you" scene even after the ship was sunk, I want to see their butthurt at the aniversary of the actual sinking :story:

I'm legit shocked no one's attempted to compare the sinking of the Sheith ship to something like the collapse of the twin towers at this point, given how cliché (albeit accurate) the Titanic analogies have become, but I think someone's already compared it to Trump's election. That's how much emotional baggage and delusional insecurity they're carrying.

So yeah, come December the crygasms should be entertaining.

Given that IchiRukis once compared Ichihime to Trump winning the election despite Hilary being more likeable, I won't be surprised.

I'm an oldfag - a fan of the original Voltron when it first came to US TV, but I'm so glad I gave this show a miss. I pine for the days when sexual content in a kids' Japanime action series was only done via playful innuendo on the part of the American voice actors.

I can only hope no one decides to make an updated, wokeified version of Ronin Warriors. Fortunately, it seems to have flown under the radar so far, but it has been on Toonami so, it's time might very well come....

The actual show doesn't have sexual or political content, but yaoi fans can interpret any character interaction between males as a sign of romance.
