It isn't just because she's ill that I'm defending her. Magdalen is a good person who was working hard to defend the rights of lesbians. She has never hurt anyone. I think it's important to acknowledge that Magdalen really does not deserve any shit. She can't stick up for herself right now, so I'm going to stick up for her.
Some of the people slated on here, such as Yaniv, deserve everything they get. Yaniv is sexist, racist, homophobic, etc. He is trying to ruin the lives of many working-class women. Fuck him.
I've said this once before in this thread (this thread tends to attract this kind of reasoning because of the subject), but I feel it's good to restate it once more: This is a site to have a laugh at people. It's not about justice, who is right or wrong, who is a piece of shit, who we should lynch and who deserves to be reprimanded/tortured/shot, or anything of that sort. It's about laughing at people, full stop. Some perfectly morally good people, or otherwise innocent people, have been the subject of mockery on this site and the fact that they did nothing wrong, or had their heart in the right place, did not prevent anyone from laughing at them. It's perfectly understandable that people might find it easier to laugh and mock a complete sack of shit like Yaniv because you skip the concept of having to wonder if laughing at someone is morally good or bad, and there's a reason why people like him attract a lot of traffic. But it's very important to remind yourself that ideology (or in this very precise case, nefarious disease and ever-approaching death) is not a barrier that forbids us to laugh at someone.
In other words, it's not because that insane troons dressed like clowns trying to abuse Canadian law exist that we can't laugh at TERFs or Radfems, even if one of them happens to be dying of brain cancer. This is what makes KF unique, for better and for worse. At best it creates an environment where no matter the gravity of the subject at hand, you can poke fun at it, but at worst it creates an environment where things you feel strongly about will eventually be mocked, one day or another.
You cannot stop people from having fun at the expense of someone, so the only option here is to just disengage and realize that this is where KF goes too far for you. And that's okay. Most people here will have
that thread that makes fun of someone or something that is infinitely precious to them, and they'll need to avoid that thread like the plague. But asking for censorship because she used to do something you considered good? Nah. This is not what KF is about.
