It's probably strongly inspired by that character at the very least. I remember at least a few fatfurs being into Louis back when that movie came out for obvious reasons so it's not much of a stretch.

I’ve seen plenty of people draw human characters as furries for a multitude of reasons, but I’ve never seen people say they’re their own characters. This world is going mad, I say.

@NoFeline gave a great summary of some of the examples of being able to tell what furries grew up with based on fetishes (this can actually apply to DeviantArtists as well), but as for the first one it's quite evident with many artists. Internet artists will often be highly influenced by cartoons and video games they loved and this ends up making its way into their art and styles. Former Sonic fanartists are the most blatant ones along with WB/Disney influenced artists (the latter making up many early furry artists). Quite a few 2000s artists were influenced by popular Anime and cartoons of the time period such as Pokemon or Digimon among others. 2010s artists were either influenced by those same shows, previous internet artists, or the infamous Tumblr/CalArts style.

It's also why quite a few styles are unpopular among furry artists online. Furries weren't interested in them, nor did they grow up with them.

It’s similar to how everyone is sick of the slutty femboy fox stereotype that was so rampant back in the day. Why does everyone have to be the goddamn same when they’re saying they’re free to express themselves? Something seems fishy about that.
