Power to you if your life has been changed to some extent with your hobbies, but mostly any semblance of culture with anime here has been stagnated into, at worst, mere fanwhoring and politicizing, "tastes" of American anime fandom notwithstanding.
As for some off path bushbeating, there's kind of a reason why "making your own stuff", and not merely fanstuff or shit like this article, gives you and your community credibility. It doesn't just show workmanship, having mores and virtues, and being able to uphold responsibility, but also showcases sincerity and respect in an expressive way, and especially towards your predecessors, and when it comes to global interaction, this helps express what your side of the world enjoys and establishes credible presence, more or less. Granted, this is a long, long, long path up the mountain/down the valley known as undertaking, with no other shortcuts or easy ways around, and I'd rather kill myself in ugly ways before I'd ever give shit like High Guardian Spice or My Life Me recognition of "being anime", but this is at least one topic on why no one takes the anime community overseas seriously, and why its current incarnation by SJWs and politicizing deranged War On Terror era brainwashed and chewed up dipshits are only helping make the rest of the community still look like assclowns. Of course, this would take study with a core of enthusiasm and unyielding spirit to want to understand how the anime and manga industry works, as well as how Japanese culture helps make anime as it is to help make this happen, but then again, these are Baizuo SJWs we're talking about.

At first, they're just a little weird and annoying, and throwing them out triggers a chimpout, which well meaning center-lefties innately resist -- this is also one reason why SJWs always scream "RACIST" at people, it triggers the same cognitive dissonance, and the innate reaction to this by lefties is to capitulate immediately. (Warhammer 40k is at this stage, but GG and CG have prepped everyone so instead of capitulating, the fandom is generally telling "Feminist 40k" and the cliquebaiters to fuck themselves with a dirty Slanneshi dick.)
Then, they get a foothold and gatekeep, and throwing them out requires a full blown civil fucking war. (GamerGate was an example of this, both in stage and reaction.)
In later stages, they drive basically everyone else out via a combination of gatekeeping and purity / virtue spiraling, leaving the hobby/fandom/industry a rotting husk; at this point you're better off just building a new fandom from scratch and purging any little pus filled maggot that tries to migrate. (ComicsGate is an example of this.)
This is the SJW playbook. Force your way in, make it too fucking annoying to get rid of you, start gatekeeping as fast as you can, drive everyone else out / drain the hobby of all funds for social justice activism, move on to the next target. Repeat forever, at least until people get so sick of this shit they start minecrafting these fucks in the street.
All of this is amplified by the fact that Identity Marxists have been indoctrinated by academia to be culture warriors and are spreading out of the colleges and into reality.
That's another beautiful thing too, really. As we've proven, we're the proverbial iceberg that they miscalculated to dodge with their ship, and now, it's in due time to see if whether we've fucked up the hull enough for them to take in water or carry on despite the large scratch.
And that leaves me with another question too. A vast majority of these SJWs are well, white. For as contained as it is, a lot of Asian Americans comprise the anime fanbase in the States as well. Suppose what would happen when the whitey SJWs try to convince said Asian Americans that their enjoyment of their hobby was "problematic" and "sexist". As I've said before, most Baizuos are hypocrite white leftie closet racists that can't think of a world outside of their little suburbia teething bubble. Don't get me wrong, there's Justin Sevakis, but many of my friends have said that he's such a twinkie ass honky that his bitch boy ass and the lot of his ilk don't even count. Sure, a lot of Asian Americans, they're not Japanese, but another thing that comes to mind is the whole "salad bowl/melting pot of cultures" thing when it comes to America. I really want to see SJWs pull their rhetoric on a fandom that has more Asian American, fucking A, minority sway to it than anything they've touched before and see if putting words in their mouths will do them any good.
