I have three (personal, possible but untested) explanations for Florida's munchie bubble.

It's pretty much the fact that the FL board has like zero standards. TX is kinda the same (that's why the population of Houston is like 99% doctors now.) So that explains why munchies tend to gravitate towards FL or TX.

Hell, a hospital here got caught selling amputated limbs and they're still operating.

Hah! I was wondering why one part of Lakeland is just a two mile stretch of road with nothing but doctor’s offices. No fast food, no Walmart, no gas stations, just doctor after doctor operating out of little strip mall type properties. Guess that answers my question.

Edit: fun fact, it’s not illegal to own human body parts that are not from your own body in the US ...unless they’re Native American. It has to do with museums displaying human remains recovered from Native American gravesites. Otherwise you can have them and, in most states, sell them.

There’s so much to discuss about Nadia herself, from why she chooses the can marked “neon khaki” for her spray tans to whatever the fuck “interpersonal neurobiology” is. However, while Nadia herself is chock full of m.ilk, so are her family, business partners, & followers. What I’m saying is have fun—but be careful you don’t lose whole days chasing Nadia down rabbit holes.

I am embarrassed that someone like this can come out of a country with a socialised healthcare system. I'm also worried, because one of my family members has started falling for naturopathic woowoo and rejecting "big pharma" and this bint is exactly the kind of person that they would see as proof that they can keep treating an as-yet-benign gastric issue with herbs and juicing.

Oh god I forgot she made him change her tampons. She and the "walking on sunshine" girl who did whip-its with the keyboard duster were by far my favorite episodes of all time.

Another good munchie episode was Nicole, who developed dysphagia and after therapy failed when she was a teenager she got a PEG tube "temporarily". Fifteen years later she still had it, never went back to therapy and her dysphagia got so bad she would carry around a cup to spit out even her saliva, openly chewed and spit out meals at family dinners and doctor shopped for opiates to put down her tube. Her grammar school aged kids even called her out for pretending to be in pain in the doctors office when she was fine at home, or calling multiple doctors to get opiates. Nowhere near as crazy as Linda but the sheer grossness of it made it real memorable.

I found none of what you claimed about fraudulent fundraising, or mysterious-disease claiming. In fact she claims some pretty ‘common’ diseases. And she looks like she’s got some emotional/intellectual issues which is a different ballgame (versus what this thread’s content is supposed to be about: Munchausen’s).

Edit - she’s admittedly autistic, has an issue with her eyes, and is unable to speak (didn’t uncover why, possibly related to epilepsy). she has a supposed service dog for her epilepsy. she’s posing with vog masks. Even now after my edits I hesitate to accuse her of being a full-on munchie, being as both autism and epilepsy are legitimately disabling conditions, and she definitely looks like an autist if nothing else. A helmet-wearing wheelchair-using autistic isn’t uncommon, especially if they’re totally nonverbal + have muscular or seizure issues. It’s more about safety than it is because they’re unable to walk.

Either way, a possible sped-munchie to add to the collection. Interesting.

She claims to have paralysed arms then signs perfectly. Claims she can't talk raises money for a speach device then is able to talk again. She isn't actually diagnosed with epilepsy she has been told they're non epileptic and that she needs CBT she has admitted this openly but refuses to accept its not epilepsy. Yes autism and epilepsy are genuine conditions if you have them. She definitely plays on hers at times though

So people that have epileptic seizures generally aren’t coherent usually for between 20 minutes to several hours after a seizure depending Severity and complex brain junk. There are some adults have learned to push through the confusion and come off as lucid but they’ll still have a terrible stutter/ other similar give aways (like forgetting mid conversation or sentence what was said etc)... Almost all people crash a few minutes afterwards and sleep it off for a few hours then wake up with no memory of the seizure. Autism is linked to epilepsy because autism causes altered developmental of neurons which can lead to seizure disorders.

This person’s stories about epilepsy aren’t very realist so I’m going with PNES or faking in general.

I may have gotten this completely backwards but I thought the paper ones were better than the vogue masks because the vogue masks don't actually keep irritants/ germs etc out but the paper ones do because they are single use. I remember we were all discussing it back when the munchie with the embellished apocalypse mask came up in the thread.

Neither really keep the germs out; they keep them in. They're not to keep YOU from getting sick. They're to keep you from spreading your germs to other people. That's why surgeons wear them: they catch the moisture they're breathing out and keep it from landing in someone's pancreas.

VogMasks are pretty useless unless your problem is dust. They work great for that because they seal better at the edges than a paper disposable. We wear them in the field when entering buildings that have not been opened in a while because they're a good intermediate between "we know what is in this room and we can breathe in here without issue" and "we know this room is full of asbestos, lead paint, and 150 years of bat guano and feral cat urine and will be wearing actual PPE." It protects you from a big puff of dust blowing directly into your lungs and you having to blow black junk out of your sinuses for an hour after work, but tbh their biggest function is anxiety reduction. You feel like you're doing something lest there be nasty shit on the other side of the door. That's all. Even then if your problem is soot the vog isn't protecting you from shit. That'll get straight through it and furthermore reduce the filtering ability since it's not made to protect you against oily contaminants. (The only ones that are rated for oil are p# respirators which are some of the storm trooper ones)

You're right that vog masks don't really do shit except make you look like an extra from Mad Max. They do have the potential to reduce the spread of airborne bacteria or viruses.

In all likelihood, if you're wearing a vog mask for fun and you get sick then what's immediately going to happen is that all your bacteria-laden sputum gets trapped in the interior of the mask. Your body is trying to expel that shit for a reason, Karen.
