I'm genuinely wondering what Jamie and Stephanie's endgames are, beyond either maybe just fear that if no one helps back up Ron he'll punish Monica or a Dan Olson level of blind zeal to the cause.

Unless he actually has some kind of power over them, my guess is for Jamie at least it's a mix of potential jealousy over Vic as well as trying to have her friend's back. I don't know about Monica, but I wouldn't want to have a friend who's going to go along with my delusions that my fiance is actually not an abusive monster though.

Rial’s reticence to dump Toye could easily be denial. A lot of women stay with their abusers out of a sense of misplaced pride. They are strong women and take shit from no one. They could never have made a wrong decision because women like them don’t end up with abusers.

That’s what they think deep down while looking down at other women/projecting on to them.

Rial’s horrid hair cut, and significant weight gain makes a lot of sense now. She eats to forget and Ron probably encourages her bad habits so she doesn’t have the confidence to go elsewhere and find another man.
