My approach to stories like this is becoming very streamlined.

I look to see if there's any mention made of approaching the authorities or pressing charges. If there isn't, or there's a specific excuse given as to why the victim did not do so, then it didn't happen, I don't have to care, and I can feel just fine laughing at them getting beaten up on social media.

I'm not going to feel bad for any woman who's convinced herself in the age of MeToo that they won't be taken seriously if a serious allegation is made to the appropriate channels. In all seriousness, I remember hearing people alluding to the Night in the Woods dev being a massive asshole back when that game first released.
