It's a non-argument to begin with. They're comparing a VA doing hentai with a VA doing hentai in-character and billing it as such. Nobody cares about a VA doing other, more adult work unless maybe it's something like Sesame Street or a Disney voice-actor, it's the act of doing it in character, and it's something Japan also has a deep dislike of. Kazuki Takahashi, creator of Yu-Gi-Oh, recently made a soft political jab using characters like Yami Yugi and Black Magician Girl criticizing the current Japanese government and Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh fans flipped their shit and scorned him for using popular characters to push a political message. Takahashi had to recant and apologize saying it was wrong for him to use characters fans like for his own politics and put words in the characters mouths. So if anyone tries to tell you Japan wouldn't get offended they're full of shit. There's a reason why company don't just make their own official porn OVAs of their own shows to cash in on it. Public image is very important. In fact, seiyuu are strictly forbidden from doing unofficial voicework in-character unless they have permission to do so. There's a famous example of Asuka Langley's Japanese seiyuu being at an American convention and fans asked her to say some of her lines and she said she couldn't.
And that still has nothing to do with the fact the whole point isn't about being offended, it's just showing Funimation's hypocrisy when it comes to work environment.
