This poses an interesting question; does cancel culture actually yield honest to god benefits?

People who defend and perpetuate it say that it’s still important for our society even it has negative consequences; but notice they only say that when it’s someone they don’t like being cancelled.

Objectively speaking, do we really need something like cancel culture?
Cancel culture is and always will be fucking stupid and it was never needed. The law exists for a reason and joe nobody and lacy longnose have no business affecting the lives of people they've never met or are usually not even in the same state as them. It's literally another form of armchair activism.
The only reason CC exists is because of hiring diversity hire women with shit degrees in useless subjects.
People used to be fired from their jobs for doing something terrible and being in public spotlight and it made sense. Nowadays its just a bunch of faggot millennial social media reps/addicts lying to their bosses about how important their gay-ass hobby is.

I might be in the minority here, but I don't think Gunn should have fired. Dude worked for Troma before he stuck it big. That's pretty much all you need to know about his sense of humor. His crime was being too dumb to delete those old tweets the first time they surfaced.

Now, if it could be shown that he burned down somebody else for edgy humor, I'd change my tune.

Are you fucking serious?

Disney is the largest kid brand in the world with a fanatical attention to keeping every single aspect of that brand utterly spotless.

The idiot had HUNDREDS of creepy pedophilloic social media posts while working for that brand.

The meeting to fire his dumb fucking ass was no longer than five minutes.

The only thing that saved him was his firing being framed by the media as him being a victim of an alt-right smear campaign and a massive number of people who desperately could not let them have a 'win.'

Gunn's dumb fucking ass getting fired.
Jessica Price dumb fucking ass getting fired.
And Funimation and many of its scumbag voice actors about to be nuked from orbit.

Should surprise absolutely NO ONE who has ever worked for a real company and would know that:

How many 'edgy' pedophillia jokes are too many to have on your social media account? ZERO
How many times is it OK to attack and insult your customers online? ZERO
How many times is it OK to use the multi-billion dollar IP your company is licensing to make homophobic or racist gag tracks? ZERO

Unfortunately from time to time, people need to be reminded how good they have it. So the idiocy of cancel culture serves as a harsh life lesson. The founding fathers had their own opinion on the CC of their day and addressed it saying "The tree of liberty occasionally needs to be watered.."

We arent there yet. And hopefully we never get back to that point. But CC serves as a wake up call for people to start paying attention to the idiocy and actually DEALING WITH IT.

I think alot of these people who wanted him fired felt that way only because the other side got a taste of their own medicine, believing "finally, it happened to someone on the left and they are losing their minds over it". It was just some edgy jokes that we seen a million times before on the internet, and Disney had to have known who they were hiring despite their supposedly squeaky clean reputation.

He didn't burn anybody, but he cheered and got snooty when someone else was burning for the very thing he got burned for later.

Well lookey here. Chuck now follows this Yuki guy. Naruhodo (Damn my weeb side). I know we suspect that Chuck is our Funimation mole but I feel like there is someone inside Funi that even closer inside Funi that Nick details. Also I would Ms @Svetlana if the whole Vic was going to be a director was true but I don't even think Vic knew that

She couldn't respond because Dear Leader locked the thread, but she did answer my question about it:

Can someone bring me up on who the hell "Rizzo" is?
Black guy audio engineer for Funimation, had lunch with Vic after a con (kamehacon?), on the list of suspects for the funi leaks. twitter handle: Rizzo214
for those of us new to veebgate, is there speculation what Rekieta has on the Yost twins's activities?

What he teased last night?
There's the pic of them both kissing Normun reedus on the cheek at the same time. There is also a tweet from one of the twins (libby?) from ~1-2 years earlier than the date in question saying something along the lines of 'Happy birthday Vic. You're awesome, but you already knew that. I love you, bet you didn't know that'. Both are in the thread.
However, if Funimation has put out an edict to these VA’s to not comment at all about this, then they are are not independent contractors. They are employees of Funimation.
Sure does look like Funimation has some control over what their independent contractors can say and do on twitter.

I left Weeb Wars for a bit to focus on my life. I got the pop up for Rekieta's stream last night and what it started is pretty amusing - That said the argument ISWV side is slowly turning into an obnoxious form of SJW that needs to be nipped now. It's perfectly fine to argue that the things said in the sound booth are not at all consistent with the puritan nature they claim. They are massive hypocrites, for example, for keeping Sean saying Faggot faggot faggot over and over again when these people explode at the mere utterance of the word. Its a great tool to call out their two-faced nature, and how obviously targeted the attacks on Vic are.

NOW with that said. Hero Hei is streaming now and I've seen this all over twitter. "MUH MAKING A JOKE OF YOUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY"
This is Not at all new.....At all. For those of you that actually bother(ed) to buy official Blu rays from them, they put these in as extras all the time. They will also take the reels to Conventions all the time.

Screaming to daddy Parent company over this, is a low blow and I don't like the precedent it sets. I think there is definitely room for fun and parody as long as it's a DVD extra or something. And this is perfectly acceptable. The people making a big fuss are more interested in destroying Funimation the company - but it doesn't seem like it's at all very focused and sighted. I would hate to see a crackdown on authentic and fun blooper extras that make any purchase more worthwhile - just because some retards got their pantsu wound up in their cracks. Funimation is a shitty company - Yes! Tackle it as the company that hates it's fans, not the company that makes parodies on their downtime and may or may not throw them in as DVD extras.

If i've learned anything from the many many MANY mistakes of outrage and cancel culture, it's that companies ALWAYS take the wrong message from these things. What a parent company should take away is "Dont give my content to shady companies who despise their fans" But I know now That they will instead take; "BLOOPER REELS AND PARODY ARE BAD" and kill the fun for everyone. It could also lead to a massive crackdown on the abridging community.

I will be awaiting with my Rageaholic "FUCK YOU I WAS RIGHT" dance

Is that where we are now? Are we still trying to fire the first salvo back because Weeb Wars is a cosmic intersection of giving zero fucks and having nothing to lose? The right is still stuck in the mindset of “diplomacy” and “optics” when their ideological opponents every time they cross paths show they’re gonna double down and bring the pain, and they won’t even take the time to take defense away from traditional means and into their own hands by being their own private security instead of relying on police.

The problem the right has is that they don’t understand the importance of adjusting defense plans and being willing to go on the attack. They’re content with things hitting rock bottom before changing plans...and then it might be too late. That’s why cancel culture and the left has grown and festered.

Cancel culture, in essence, is just another variation of something the left and right have used a lot over the years: a witch hunt. Communists, satanists, witches, political correctness. The target doesn't really matter. The truth is, there really isn't anything you can do to stop it, since it's based off hysteria and FUD. It usually keeps going until the courts smack it down or they target someone "too big to fail".

Realistically, there's only two ways to combat it. The first is in court; eventually, people start to realize that the cancellations are coming based on questionable to non-existent evidence. Granted, I suppose the courts could be complicit in the whole thing and society falls into disarray and civil war and panic in the streets and death everywhere and blah blah blah. But that probably won't happen.

The only other real way to combat it is to...start cancelling people yourself. Which, I mean, is an option, but I don't think it's a very good one.

Of course they pulled the James Gunn card while lacking any self awareness whatsoever.
GamerGhazi truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

Holy fucking shit, guys. I visited it for the first time and I think I have to spend a month in the decontamination chamber. My favourite part was calling Johny Depp a "known abuser".
BTW there are like ten guys in the gaming industries getting metooed right now, including the guy from Sunless Sea and composer from Fury SJW Game (by Zoe Quinn herself). Wow, my american comrades, I wish you can get you shit together and find a way to deal with it, people just shouldn't get cancelled out of existence Stalin style by two tweets.
