This is the funniest thread I have ever read in my entire life. I pressed two at Reuben's posts so much I had to buy a new keyboard.

But there is no need to be petty.

Mr. Baron will learn the error of his ways all on his own soon enough. In under a year he will be graduating from comfortable academia into an unbelievably cut-throat, competitive industry. If today's work is anything to go by, he is horrifyingly ill prepared and unqualified for it even had he not taken a metaphorical coat hanger to his career today. Worse yet there are only a few ways he could dig himself out of the hole he's made this day, and I don't see him even recognizing the problem.

Really I cannot think of anything the internets could do to Mr. Baron that's worse than what he's already voluntarily done to himself.
I disagree. I think the future of" journalism" has plenty of room for people like Baron, unfortunately.

The Next time Reuben G. Baron does an AMA on reddit I would definitely participate. I would love to know how Reuben finds it acceptable from a professional or moralistic standpoint to try and drag a fellow otherkin under the bus for personal recognition and to set up a friend. I also think it's funny how a "journalist" like Mr. Reuben Baron seemingly forgot to get he Interviewee a to sign anything yet thinks he somehow has more broadcast rights then them.

I hope Reuben puts this piece in his portfolio, it'll definitely get him hired.

okay i assume this guy will be getting a thread of his own in lolcow sooner or later but i'm just going to dump this here for now.

so i did some digging and i was able to find some interesting stuff. first off he has a SHIT TONE of random accounts on various discussion forums dedicated to shows/films/anime/etc but the most interesting thing i found was this live journal. what makes it interesting? well sure enough our friend managed to find his way on to ED under the "Otakukin" entry here is a link to the relevant section. the highlights:
-he pissed off ED by vandalising the Otakukin page
-ED turned on the NotSoFictional LJ and they flipped shit effectively destroying the community
-turns out Reuben is the reincarnation of some animu character

just starting to go through more of his stuff but here are a list of the accounts i have found so far. the top three are the ones probably worth checking out first

one more thing to highlight, last year he ran an indiegogo for a short film called "Book Girl". this is what $1170 gets you

Yeah unfortunately I think the future of journalism is yellow, it's crazy to see even sites like cnn have fully turned off comments because people were just calling them on their shit all the time, and don't even get me started on gawker with kinja, they can not only post misleading headlines but have completely silenced the consumers, I think he'll fit in just fine as long as he has the "right" morals

God damn, how does one up the ante from a budget of $1000 to a budget of $5000?

The amount of SEO going on in this thread is blowing my mind. Keep it coming so that this thread may be listed at top of search results for Reuben G. Baron of Bard College

Has anybody read his "good girl" review? He seriously disliked it because a female protagnist could be mentally unhinged. I'm not joking. Here are some quotes:

http://the-lfb.com/2014/10/05/gone-girl-the-new-favorite-movie-of-terrible-people/

The text directly contradicts the misinterpretations idiots have made. Gone Girl, on the other hand, presents a text that reads as practically an MRA manifesto. How did this go so wrong? I don’t think Fincher intended the movie to be misogynist. I seriously doubt Gillian Flynn, the writer of the source novel (which I haven’t read) and the screenplay, did.

You can have great female villains, like you can have great Jewish villains. But if your female villain’s sociopathic plots consist mainly of faking and lying about rape and marital abuse, you’re pretty much illustrating every “Red Pill”-er’s fantasy of how “feminists” behave in the real world.

If the movie’s not actively trying to present a misogynist message, what message is it trying to send? Some have defended it as generally misanthropic, but the claim doesn’t totally hold. Yes, Ben Affleck’s Nick Dunne is shown to be flawed, but the movie still paints him as the victim. He has an affair and is shown to be a bit sexist himself, but these flaws are nothing compared to what the movie’s villain does, and given the movie’s general tone of sexism justifies his sentiments it’s arguable if the latter is even recognized as a flaw.

A dude who literally pedastalizes feminist propaganda can't handle, a semi-realistic character that doesn't conform to stereotypes he believes. If he was a true feminist or just a person with sane world views. He would know that women like Amy really do exist and it's not just MRA/PUA/REDPILL propaganda. What should I expect from this dude? He's literally a pawn of Brianna Wu. Johnny boy couldn't give two shits about him since his Steam Greenlit page has opened up.

I just woke up from a nap, scanning over those links as lazily as possible, and I already found editorial errors within seconds. This guy claims to be an intern script reader? He wants to write reviews for a living? His reviews are 3 paragraphs each. It's not that hard to reread them.

Yes, Benedict Cumberbatch is Kahn. The studio doesn't you to know that before seeing it

Also decidedly old Hollywood is how sexy it is without containing any sex.
(Am I reading this one wrong or does it make no sense?)

I also appreciate how nice he is to his previous employers on his livejournal, especially this post. Apparently being a pirate for a children's boat ride is a scarring enough experience to write a movie script about.

AAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD fired
Or "laid off", more like. They say I didn't do anything wrong and just couldn't afford to have me, and given how shitty their service was, I'd believe them, but at the same time I think me telling off a particularly sexist captain might have had something to do with it. Ah well. I could probably turn this little misadventure into a movie script or something eventually.

I found how he rushes to Israel's defense. Is there something about criticism of Israel and criticism of lying professional victims online that draws losers like this to their defense? Could Israel be the state which accurately represents people like Brianna Wu? Or maybe they just really strongly encourage young upcoming Jews to vouch for Israel being a good country after their free trip and beautiful free tour of Israel while no doubt avoiding the Gaza Strip.

Clubs are starting up now and it seems JStreetU has a lot to do, having to respond to "Apartheid Week" and some other ridiculous anti-Israel happenings on campus.

He's also the Knight in Shining Armor for the non-government alphabet soup crowd who can't speak for themselves.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. I went to Pride with Vethica. It was raining so we didn't stay long but I ran into some other friends from WAGLY (the Metro-West Suburban Alliance of Gay and Lesbian Youth, should be MWSAGLY, or maybe MSWAGLBTQAY, but whatever). My sister was carrying a Rainbow Dash sign in the parade and when she got tired gave it to Veth, which attracted the bronies (and the cosplayers!).

I don't know if you're still reading Reuben, but I want to ask what you think Jace's net contribution to the world has been. Bad or good?

Jace is a likeable guy suffering with a mental illness, and though he's technically a lolcow, a lot of people genuinely like Jace and think he's an alright guy. What are your thoughts on this?

I don't know why you'd come onto the forums, or what you were expecting. Especially when you're clearly new to this.

Hi Reuben why haven't you issued a retraction on Eli being Jace's drug dealer? You do realize that he is in the process of looking for a way to get paid without having to work and I'm sure he could make a pretty penny from your libelous accusation of him being a drug dealer because someone who doesn't like Jace told you he is one. He wasn't even in the country during the operation.

Why aren't you approving critical comments on your shitty libelous hack job article?

@Reuben G. Baron, I'd just like to say it's great having you around! Although some of my fellow Kiwis may be antagonistic towards you, I'm personally overjoyed to have here a person who IRL knows Brianna Wu, a lolcow I see much promise in. Have you looked at our thread about her? Would you like to chime in and provide your input regarding history's best game developer? Do you agree with those of us who have concluded that BW is indeed one and the same as the notorious John Flynt of Ole Miss? What do you think about the Frank Wu-Alison McBain kerfuffle?
