You know frankly I don't blame Zoe for Alec's suicide. Because it was just one spurred lover's angry letter.

I do think the Indie Game Community at large is to blame though. They are the ones who automatically deemed the guy a toxic individual, the Night in the Woods devs were the ones that just tossed him aside like garbage.

Did they really have to publish so many stories of how he was cancelled? The guy had a long tenured career and was one of the original indie makers. I don't see why they should make it "news" when an ordinary person loses their job. Kiwifarms will report on that stuff but again what's on Kiwifarms isn't a lasting mark on your history if you have a legitimate career. Dan Harmon isn't losing jobs for being a lolcow.

I still keep kicking myself for not knowing how to dig through my own cache, because him praising cancellation culture is currently something I would physically mail him copies of for the rest of his stinking life. This was a worthy sacrifice in the chess game of the culture war. Suicide is an incredibly useful tool because it gives your side a death that can't be criticized by the other side, and you can basically make up the "true" cause of death at your leisure. Alec could have a suicide note saying that he did it because a unicorn told him to, but the narrative is going to be that it was a result of getting CANCELLED by Zoe Quinn. This will be a very decisive skirmish in favor of the Gamergators and the only expended resources was a guy who worked on a game that "the other side" liked. I will award 9 points to GamerGate.
