Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

For those wondering how Vic could stand working in this den of snakes, I have a story to tell. Left vague for several reasons.

A few years ago I was promoted for almost double my original pay. The downside was that I had to change the location I worked at. I went from a liberal community, like one I had grown up in, to a conservative one. My new job had me rubbing elbows with people I did not agree with. But I was the minority, so I kept my mouth shut and got paid.

One day, I let one of my liberal viewpoints slip out. As a result, I suddenly found my coworkers treating me differently, and a couple rumors got back to me. I was being called a bleeding heart liberal, and it made me an isolated target. After that I clammed up, but the rumors still followed me.

Besides that, my coworkers were horn dogs, to put it lightly. If someone with a skirt passed by the building, some would walk outside to watch them walk away. Jobs didn't get done sometimes because one MILF would show up and get chatty, and half the staff dropped what they were doing to drool over her.

I can't say I agreed with this. Sure I enjoy the sight of a hot lady, but I never engaged in the sexual banter some employees threw back and forth. It just wasn't my cup of tea. Plus I had an extremely jealous significant other, and I liked living.

Months later, we were joking around, and I found myself making a few sex jokes to get along with the others. They seemed to like this, and it eased tensions. I adapted to my environment.

Vic adapted to what he saw and dealt with. I have no doubt Funimation was full of sexually charged atmosphere, not to mention the consluts. While his core values stayed more or less the same, I have no doubt he went along with some things to make his coworkers more at ease. Just in this case, the rumor mill eventually took it's toll.

Like Icarus who flew to close to the sun, JosephTX flew too close to the sped.
You are an excellent human being. I hope you find $20 on the ground.

Not as bad as we almost felt bad for monica, that wss a plotwist m night shyamalan wouldn't come up with, just as scummy as sabat and soye.
Hence why I hope Ron is beating her like a fat, dumpy representation of how much he hates his life. Apparently that makes me a bad man, but just chalk it up to me being an aspie mad at the Internet.

Holy shit. The writing for season 2 is fucking amazing. No filler at all. Every episode has forwarded the myth-arc.

Sure it's a bit forumlaic to bring in some new heavies the beginning of season 2 after the old group wasn't getting it done but they pulled it off. They gave Sabat a hell of a welcome to the party!

Too bad the Weeb Wars writers didn't write the last season of Game of Thrones.
They're still fighting last seasons bad guys, i just hope this season has less plot armour/side storys and throw away characters that keep returning...

re: the new affidavits

So, according to Huber and Slatosch... Rial, Toye, Marchi, and *hurk* Specht all claimed that Vic would have criminal charges against him as early as February.

Why didn't they try to go through with this? One of the issues I had from the jump was the fact that nobody was even trying to get the police involved. It couldn't have possibly been because of the supposed UNLIMITED POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR that Vic had-- he was fired and cancelled by then. He clearly had no protection if he could just get fired supposedly because of an investigation that didn't even call up the alleged victims, over the phone (when he should have received the termination notice in writing).

Why they didn't wouldn't be a valuable question if not for the fact that they repeatedly said it would happen.

Was it just their plan B in case their #metoo'ing him didn't work at all?

I don't think I'll henceforth be able to mention Specht's name without mentioning my absolute disgust with her. Her contribution to the lawsuit were beyond worthless and without any probative value whatsoever and it was made in the context of people clearly trying to get him to kill himself, her affidavit in particular was literally "I was Vic's girlfriend once", she's apparently implied that Vic gave her a loathsome disease, and she very much gossiped with Marchi and Rial about his supposed crimes but didn't have the guts to own the whole hog and name names or say anything specific.

Infidelity is awful, and the breakup of long-term relationships are normally sad, but if this is the kind of person that Specht is, I'm not surprised in any capacity that Vic cheated on her repeatedly. She's about as much of a safe harbor as the rocks that sirens trick sailors into running into. Probably provided less relationship security than an actual escort. The fact that anyone, particularly Vic and Chuck, still feel bad for her in any capacity at this point is a testament to the compassion of their characters.

Oh, and that line from Specht to Vic about how she had enough to ruin him if she wanted?

Now we know she didn't, but she was still trying to.

Reading through the document, and while not really a surprise, it's really telling how clear and concise BHBH documents are compared to the defendants. The affidavits especially everyone provides information on who they are, why they are credible, what they know, and how they know it. Also got a good laugh about Monica and Ron using the "Seinfeld defense."

I recommend calling these speds what they are then: rape apologists/perpetuators. If any of what they said about Vic being a sexual predator and rapist was true (spoiler: it's not), then their apathy toward his "many" victims makes them as bad a rapist/predator themselves.

Plus, you get a shit ton of woke points when you do that stuff. Win/win situation.

Thats whats called 'good legal drafting'

Clarity in pleadings is important because it makes sure the judge understands what you're arguing.

Ty's team does this because unlike J Sean they don't have brain damage.

They wasn't going to get police involved if they were then would be arrested for false reporting lol, they just wanted vic broke and dead. The apology tours is what they wanted and still blacklist him.

It's like Mazinger Z. Baron Ashura failed to destroy Mazinger so Dr. Hell brought in Count Bloken. Ashura stuck around for much of the rest of the series but she/he was no longer the main antagonist. This is similar to what is going on with Vic. Moronica failed to take Vic out in season 1 so a more potent foe has been revealed, Chris Sabat. Moronica will still be in the show but their role will be reduced.

This can also be seen how they've reduced LeMonie to comic relief. They have reduced his role to being tsundere over Nick.

To paraphrase Jamie Marchi "Oh if only some raped child would actually turn up and rid us of this monster!". Yeah, they always knew they had nothing.

Gotta say, I love the little bait-and-switch they did with Erica's backstory. We all thought it'd be a dramatic revelation, only for Erica to just be like, "nah fam, I just didn't wanna be Vic's handler." Sure, some fans are going to call it underwelming, but I think the writers pulled it off.
Plot twist: she only relented because @Svetlana was going to send ninjas after @EriMin because there can only be one Vic Whisperer. The sworn statement is a lie, we've lost the case again.

Good lord, he sounds like an old man sitting on a hill telling kids stories about turnips and how they lost a lemon tree.

Eh, I knew from the beginning that Specht was only there to play on the human angle. While her affidavit did nothing to add to the lawsuit itself, it's clear that her really bitter words were just to make Vic feel guilty and tug on the heartstrings of anyone who would listen by making it seem like he was a monster toward her. All she did was come across as some scheming, manipulative bitch and while I don't condone the action of cheating on a spouse or a lover, I certainly don't feel bad for her at all. If anything, Vic just avoided being married to that psychopath.

Also, please remember the crazy/hot ratio chart:

Specht is definitely below the yellow line.

I'm not gonna lie. We should have intervened when he announced his name + location + current firearm ownership status. That was our warning sign, like a stinger after the credits showing our hero's mentor clutching his chest.

But hey, I know my anime plot lines. He'll be back in time for Season 3.
