Makes me wonder if Yuki Matsuzaki tried to get work in Anime Voice Acting and was cockblocked by Sabat. I could see them not wanting someone bilingual to join the party, given how Marchi and Rial both fucked with scripts to insert woke politics.
Don’t know where you got that idea. Dude isn’t just some VA in Japan, he’s an actual actor. He wouldn’t give a crap about American VA work, that would be a downgrade for his career.

Nathan Sharp has been getting on this? Oh boy, that’s disappointing.

Effectively this whole case in a nutshell. People in the community whose work we enjoyed, doing stupid things because reasons. I only started finding out about all these shitty things VAs do, because of Schemmel at KC last year, where he tried to block Kelamis from attending. Before that I didn't even know his and Sabat's name's. Come to think of it, given what we've learnt since on how Sean is gaslighted and humiliated by Sabat, I'm not surprised that he blocked Kelamis now. In addition to his mild autism, all those other factors undoubtedly mixed together and fucked him up so badly that he turned into what he is now.

Ironically all these people 'supporting' the Dub actors rn are the ones who will blatantly stick a knife in their backs calling them shitty actors and subpar when compared to 'the glorious and untouchable Japanese VAs' any other day.

EDIT:

Given how complacent Schemmel is with letting Sabat walk over him like a welcome mat, do you think Sabat has leverage over him? Maybe Sean was one of the people 'sitting' on the casting couch at some point

Yep. Well, that one guy did. Not sure how the rest are faring.

They lost control of the narrative weeks ago. Funimation trending brought in a bunch of people who had no idea what was going on and were asking questions. There isn't enough KickVic left to control what is being said.

Edit: Welp. World Wide Weeb War.

Eh. Take an optimistic react. Undoubtedly IGN USA just forwarded the article to be translated in their Japan branch. I doubt anything will come of this. Could be wrong, but highly unlikely as the article is only on the audio clips and not the dirt that was revealed in Chuck's affidavit

The recordings they are claiming came out 4 years to a decade ago. That sounds fishy but I don't go to anime conventions so I don't know.
Many of the accusations against Vic go back years ago as well, didn't matter then. Doesn't change the unequal application of Funi's rules.

people have been memeing about toei or sony stepping in to fuck funimations shit up big time and i always dismissed the possibility because i don't think japanese corporate execs give a fuck about what nasty gaijin do on the other side of the globe
but if they actually see these leaks as damaging to their brand, funimation migh be in serious trouble. i'm not sure either way and i can't tell what the article even says because i don't speak nippon, but now i think jap intervention is a real possibility. how likely exactly i can't say, but the odds are much better than before these shenanigans came out.

Really depends on the company but when something like this happens, you can bet a lot of companies will pull the plug and probably opt out on a dub as negotiating with another dub afterwards would take too much time and money. Most likely they'll just let Funi ride with whatever agreement they have and won't renew. I'm talking beyond just Toei now because everybody into anime is going to know about this. Not sure how rich Toei is but they might actually pull the plug and take the loss to have another company start dubbing right away. Hard to say.

Sony is another matter entirely. This is part of their company and it affects their profits. Imagine losing millions of dollars over a toxic work place you were working on fixing (see chucks affidavit). I'm almost positive they are going to step in and investigate though that will take time and not instantaneous. We might even see Sony pay for the settlement and fees for Vic and Todd's lawsuits just to get that done and over with to take care of Funi. I will he shocked if Sony doesn't get involved. And don't kid yourself. They definitely are aware by now. Maybe not the top brass but Sony probably knows and is looking into what to do.

He also does VA work, and is based out of Hollywood, actually.

We Bare Bears this year. Usagi Yojimbo in TMNT and it's spinoffs. "ADR Voice Artist" for Ghost in the Shell and Godzilla, amongst others, whatever that is. A few voices in video games. He seems to still be trying to get a breakout role, if I'm understanding his IMDB page right.

But, I actually meant in the past. He's been active since 2002.

Eh. 7/10. The Ron Toye ones were better. I wanna see Memes tho. Not the rhyme-apalooza ferris wheel of names for Sabat

A new visual novel game by Zachtronics has a character that reminds me of someone:

Obviously just a weird coincidence, but the resemblance is uncanny.
And the character in the game has anger issues...

The let's player used that character as the thumbnail for the video:

Have to wonder why Ty and/or Nick would want to potentially burn Funi to the ground. I read a tweet suggesting Funi might have little net worth and maybe people like Sabat have it all in their personal pockets. Don't know how true that is but might explain this 'wierd relationship' with Okatron Nick keeps mentioning and the willingness to burn Funi down.

Which is to say, his estimated losses due to convention cancellations this year will amount to, at minimum, $135,000, and could be reasonably estimated to be in the range of $180,000-$220,000. To say nothing of lost income from cons not even inviting him for late this year and next year. I'll go fairly conservative and say $180,000 in lost earnings, plus the $161,000 in earnings he actually did get, which is $341,000 in estimated income just from conventions.
Don't forget that those numbers are after the damage was dealt by the defendants salacious statements. Who knows how many people they drove away? Vic was coming off a hugely successful movie for a hugely successful franchise where he voiced the titled antagonist that's been a fan favourite for decades, despite that character being in 3 non cannon movies and not the series. I'd say $341k could be lowballing it, If Vic pushed himself and did ~40 cons he could have walked away with $500k+ I know he has a lot of loyal fans from earlier works, but it think this would have been Vic's most successful year ever.

I'd say Sabat probably makes more overall because he looks to have his fingers in all of the pies.

Toei has to do something to save face. This is a Japanese company we are talking about here.
What Funimation did was basically a dog shitting on the carpet. Best case for Funimation they get their noses rubbed in it and several people get cut loose and blacklisted. Worst case, Funimation get's taken out back and Old Yeller'd.
You can bet there has been communication between Toei and Sony by now.
This started out as a @Metoo thing that corporate Japan could not give less of a shit about. It's now turned into a raging dumpster fire with Sony via Funimation showing their ass to the world right before the 2020 Olympics, in a culture that values etiquette and appearances above all else. In a culture that utilized seppuku. In a culture where people won't leave work until their boss does because they think it makes them look bad.
Sabat and Schemmel are fucked.

I was trying to deliberately be conservative in my estimates to demonstrate that even being conservative, he's still almost certainly making way more than any other anime VA. The only exceptions would potentially be people like Justin Cook, Colleen Clinkenbeard and Chris Sabat, who have significant roles outside of just voice acting. I agree that this would likely have been his biggest year ever, and $500,000 is not an unreasonable estimate.

Sabat probably makes more, but I do think it's possible that Sabat isn't sure if that's the case, and he seems the type to be greatly concerned with that sort of thing.

At the risk of sounding like a crazed conspiracy nut, what really troubles me about finding about all these people coming out the wood work over Vic is how connected everything is.
Nathan Sharp was in FFVII Abridged which starred Justin Briner who is KickVic.
FFVII Abridged is a TFS production which had some members (Amber Lee Connors and Howard Wang) come out as KickVic.
Going off track, you had Sharp’s fellow musicians being KickVic (Amanda Lee, Jonathan Young).
And they’re all connected to Funimation in some way.
If Zach Callison or Markiplier come out as KickVic, it’ll turn into all out Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

I don't think neither Nick or Ty were invested on burning Funi to the ground. Then again, the leaks were to prove the hypocrisy of the company, allowing their workers to do whatever they wanted while getting someone fired for dad jokes. The fall of funi is just collateral damage.

In my book, actively working to burn down a company for firing someone is just as autistic as the fujos sperging against studios for their buttsex dose (ie the Voltron fandom).

edit: also Nick mentioned on the leaks videos he doesn't care what happens next after the leaks.

As evident from Chuck's affidavit, Vic may have been a douche which was why they didn't like him. Alternatively, you're forgetting that all of these people are connected to Sabat in some way. My guess is Sabat and Funi get kickbacks from these content creators and shield them from Toei for any backlash they get for using their IP (TFS and the musicians). You should note that Justin Briner also plays Kouhai Deku to Sabats All Might Senpai in MHA. Hence all of them have things to gain from doing what Sabat says. Of TFS, at least half of them are KV, the only ones I'm not sure about are Masako and Takahata as Lanipator and Kaiser as well as the TFS chichi have come out as KV if I remember correctly

View attachment 916806The exceptionalism of Shane. So, what about the casting couch iof Chris Sabat Shane? Fascinating that Kick Vic seem to be all overlooking that, and are still tied up with the Funi leaks.

Again, none of them can agree on a date. 10, 13, 14, 16, 20 years? Which is it? Yet they all know so much about it somehow.
