Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

The FDA issued a warning last year of the possibility of potential aortic dissection in certain patients, and that providers should not prescribe fluoroquinolone antibiotics to "patients who have an aortic aneurysm or are at risk for an aortic aneurysm, such as patients with peripheral atherosclerotic vascular diseases, hypertension, certain genetic conditions such as Marfan syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and elderly patients."

Huh, well would you look at that. I wonder how long it will take for one of our heroes to claim they're experiencing aortic dissection.

That’s probably one of those “hard to fake and not easy enough attention” sort of things. Not an expert at all, but that sounds like one of those things that would need fixing ASAP, so it wouldn’t bring enough time for ass pats.

Also, someone mentioned Louis Theroux’s “a Place for Pedophiles” and it reminded me of someone he talked to in a newer documentary who could bring pretty interesting insight regarding male munchies.
It was one of his “LA Stories” episodes, where he talks to sex offenders who are let back into the wild.
One guy, who’d been in prison multiple times for flashing random women, talked about wanting to be physically castrated. He described feeling compelled to flash or masturbate in front of women, not because he wanted to shock or scare them (lol, sure but ok) but because he wanted them to feel concerned for him. Like “awww, is he okay? I want to look after him.”
Obviously this guy is several kinds of fucked in the head, but this doesn’t sound too dissimilar from why these instamunchies do things.

But yeah, idk, thought it was an interesting parallel.

Yes, which is why I mentioned it. There would be no coming back from a claim like that. The excuses and cover up efforts would be a fantastic production.

I've found a new munchie who doesn't claim the standard EDS/GP/POTS combo!

Meet Christy Lynn Johnston of Jackson, MI.

Christy claims a whopping 10 "chronic illnesses" including super basic allergies, anemia, and eczema. What makes Christy different (well, one of the ways that makes her different) is that her most "debilitating" illnesses are PCOS and Hidradenitis Suppurativa (lesions in genitals, the anus, armpits, and a few other areas). She also has a ton of mental health problems.

She posts a lot of very strange and/or very unattractive/gross pics.

The real gems are in her Youtube videos (if you can manage to get through them).

The first video on her channel is a great way to get a grasp of her dead-eyed, blurry vlogging style.

A beautiful video entitled "Things I Suck At", which should have included making vlogs.
  1. Making phone calls
  2. Making appointments. “I need to get better at that because I need to get better at my phone calls and just tie them two together and hey there we go. I’m on track.”
  3. Doing homework on time
  4. Taking care of responsibilities like laundry because she “gets so caught up watching TV.”
  5. Math. “I suck at math even though I really think I’m good at math and then I find out I suck.”
  6. English class
  7. Sports. “I’m sort of good at bowling. Sorry not sorry. HASHTAG! What?!?”
Things Christy is good at
  1. Attending school
  2. Texting
  3. Pretty good grammar
  4. Pretty organized “although it seems like I’m not really organized. Even though my life seems like a mess and all my things seem like a mess I’m actually a pretty organized person.”
  5. Friendly and outgoing
  6. Good to come to for advice
  7. “Well...um...hmm...I think that’s it because I’m not good at handwriting- oh I should have included that huh? I’m not that good at handwriting.”
A possible explanation for why she is the way she is.
  • In 8th grade would go snowmobiling with her mom
  • Gunned the engine and hit a telephone pole. Was strong enough to pull snowmobile away from pole then gunned it into a tree. Fell off and smacked her head against the helmet. DID NOT GO TO HOSPITAL!!!
  • “I think I had a slight concussion from that because I had to go and ask my math teacher to reteach me everything that we learned on the day of my snowmobile accident. And she kinda looked at me like I was stupid which was really offensive because I told her what happened but whatever.”
Here's what is the CREEPIEST attempt at an ASMR video I've ever seen.

"My Mental Illnesses"
  • GAD. Anything can set it off, like her asthma attacks in middle school. Missed a lot of middle school due to this.
  • Depression. She does not take any medications for these but needs it.
  • Dermatillomania or “excortion” [sic] disorder. Picks her lips, scabs. “It’s gross but you need to know and I need to tell you.” Lots of talk of scab picking but it’s okay because she’s, “heard of worse things.”
  • “There are a lot of fakers and that’s what saddens me. People fake mental illnesses all the time and that’s why people don’t believe that you have a mental illness sometimes.”
  • Trust me girl, we believe you have a mental illness
"Health Issues That I Have"
  • Asthma. Got dx’d at 12. Doctor blamed it on her weight.
  • Arthritis in my knees. Dx’d at 18. Hadn’t walked around much in months and then walked around a huge mall and was surprised when her knees hurt. So she “took a bunch of pain pills.”
  • Allergies (grass, cats, horses, gerbils/hamsters). Dx’d with asthma at 12.
  • Slight overactive bladder but hasn’t been dx’d yet “because it’s either that or I might be diabetic because some days I pee a lot, some days I pee a little, some days I go like clockwork.” Hasn’t even talked to doc about it yet.
  • Struggles to pronounce “empathize”
In the beautiful "I Gave Myself a Concussion" video, Christy explains that she gave herself a concussion while washing her legs. She scratched her head on a door handle (...??????). She explains that she's been more tired and dizzy but did not go to a doctor.

The scratch in question:
Screenshot_2019-09-01-05-56-13_kindlephoto-16218620.png
Look at that wound! Apparently people thought she was a ‘hypochondriact’ so she made this.

“If you think I’m a ‘hypochondriact’ for not going to the doctor to get checked out then you can leave, because everyone I talked to they asked what I was feeling, how I was feeling, and I told them and they were like ‘yeah you have the classic symptoms of a concussion.’ Every article I read: classic symptoms of a concussion. And in most of them literally said a doctor could not really do anything unless I’m a stage 3 concussion- and I’m not. I haven’t been, I haven’t progressed or anything. Plus I would’ve gone in if I’d felt the need to go in and if my parents felt like I needed to go in. And they did not and I did not. So, I’m good guys.”

One of her latest Youtube sagas was of her 3-part Journey to Endometriosis Diagnosis wherein she was not diagnosed with Endometriosis.

And you can't forget this:

Has she ever said that she has Autism or ASD? Her speech pattern is so unnatural, and it doesn't seem like it's a one-off issue, since it's the same in her "vlog" and her "story time" video (it's actually worse in the latter). The cadence of her voice isn't quite right.; it's as if she's reading off a script, but the words aren't coming out correctly. Her sentences seem planned, but the delivery is not. Formulaic and overplanned conversation like this is an Autism thing.🤔

Alternatively, she might just be missing a few million synapses.

Nope, no mentions of Autism anywhere. I'd had a similar thought about her cadence as well.

ETA: if her snowmobile crash story is true, could an untreated TBI account for her "uniqueness"?

I am going to attempt to make an all out post about this cow but bear with me, I suck at formatting.

Let's start from as close to the beginning as I can get. So she posts this long, boring, hard to watch video on YouTube about how a seizure saved her life
Video here
In this video she describes a scene where her abusive grandma who raised her and abusive boyfriend caused her to go into a "partial seizure" where she was harming herself and ended up running, yes running, down the street. Which she describes running as a seizure trigger for her. She sees a car coming and was apparently planning to jump in front of it but instead has a "full seizure" and drops to the grpund where her abusive grandma and boyfriend found her and got her help. Of course, zero footage to back anything up.
But it's OK, the next video she posted is about her fake service dog and even shows her alerting to a seizure which of course is followed by "actual seizure" which she gets into a very favorable position for and gets it perfectly on video
At around 5:50 on the timestamp. Lots of editing cuts of course
ReAl SiEzUrE
But the she drops off for a bit, does some boring not informative videos about her Condishuns. Lots of boring vlogs where she adds in new, vague diagnosis here and there but mostly it's about her new daughter and boyfriend (whom broke up with her at the pivitol point where she talked less about being ill at which he got back together with her after a very short break). Her updates became so few, I almost forgot she existed, until recently. She came back full throttle, starting with her oldest of two daughters (born just short of a year apart) getting diagnosed with chiari malformation while insisting in the comments that it's definitely unfixable and going to be a life of extreme pain that only one doctor she trusts can help with, but go figure he isn't covered by her military insurance and so thus a new go fund me was formed. In the last month she has done nothing but post stories about how her mold filled military housing is making her and her daughters sick, how they need money to get her daughter treated for chiari (without surgery) and how all 9f her health issues have come back suddenly full force. She even has an Amazon wish list that her followers begged her to create. Here's a couple receipts I've made over the past couple weeks, I've missed some sadly, but she's revving up daily.
(also sounds like her relationship isn't going so well)

"I will die within hours to days" jesus christ. I don't know how any of these people can write this shit and be like "yeah that sounds like something a doctor would tell his patient!"
I know next to nothing about this system in the states so just how realistic would it be that a hospital would discharge someone who (doesn't) has a dr saying she's got hours + to live, and is too" ill and complex " to go anywhere else?

The amount of times the TPN is used by these people makes it seem like it's no big deal... A guy I know finally got put onto TPN after about six different surgeries, ripping him to shreds from the inside out basically trying everything and anything before they had to resort to TPN...But to read some of the shit from these people it's like some routine run of the mill answer.

It doesn't matter what country you're in. Hospitals don't make a habit of discharging critically ill people.

Going off TPN for a few hours isn't going to kill someone -- especially someone like Jessi, who snacks and is not rail thin by any standard (other than maybe a comparison to ALR).

Yeah I'd have assumed that a few years ago but hospitals make some pretty fucking questionable decisions these days! That could well just be here, though.

I love how their profile pictures on SM are always set to show all their tubes and misery... They remind me of the images charities use to advertise on TV when they're scrounging for money and vital organs.

This one is too boring to do a full report on but shows how some of the TPN munchies get really long hospital stays. Piss the TPN company off to the point they won't provide you services.

She is boring and ott at the same time .This one is so bad her own father and her grandmother openly tell her she is malingering and have consistently accused her of doing things to herself to get admitted to the hospital whilst the mom babies her and feeds into her bullshit. It is one thing when strangers don't believe you but when several members in the family don't believe munchies it says so much .

I used to follow a fuck ton of “recovered” anorexics who still had thigh gap or feeding tube pics as their profile pic and constantly shared pics of their low weight for “awareness”. It‘s so hilariously transparent.

The ones whose families call them out are my favorite. I am still kicking myself that I can’t find that video where Amanda/Ren’s mom is screaming at her there’s nothing wrong and she’s just looking for problems that don’t exist.

I wonder what happened there. Mom seems pretty complicit these days.

More Linda Li stuff from her eds group. She is on a lot less opiates than she was on back in her intervention days.

People still discuss her in EDS groups and it’s amazing how many of them actually defend her. Linda claimed her hips fully dislocated and the only way she could put them back in is if she ran. People in the groups swore they experienced this and that it was definitely possible.

So thats not dislocated hips work.

there are kids who are made to stand and attempt to walk and sit with dislocated hips some are completely out these children cant do most of the therapists/parents are asking/forcing them to attempt. Normally before the hips are xrayed as part of these kids management plans. There are many different surgical options(of course many are not covered by insurance) so if your not liking what your surgeon is saying google/ask around and find a surgery option you like and have it done. The fact people are stupid enough to believe running is possible in the above state is laughable and as to it being used as a correctly option is plain stupid

I think it's more that they're supporting her because they claim that same lie or something similar is true for them. Munchies do that a lot. They cluster around a lie until it becomes absorbed into the narrative. These diseases end up seriously misrepresented because the people lying about having them and having a really poor understanding of them outnumber the people who actually have them.

Edit to add actual content:

So if anyone else hangs around IFA you'll see that some delirious little fuckwit going by the name delboynrodders has been running around starting rumors about regulars there including claiming that queenfakey/@DrMrsBlueMorpho is a tranny, I'm also a tranny and not a historian, and @TonySoprano is ...i don't even fucking know, if you guys can parse through her autism and figure out what she's on about I'd appreciate it.

Anyway, she was dumb enough to click a Youtube link one of our fine members posted on another sub after stalking that person around reddit all day and friended him like the absolute mongoloid she is.

Hi, Gwendolyn! Anything you'd like to share with the class?

ETA: oh, what's this? She lives in Scottsdale, AZ. Which happens to be where or about where PW lives.

Fascinating.

I am stunned by the fact Linda has not registered here yet to dispute things and threaten people for mentioning her . She used to google herself to see where people were discussing her Intervention episode and then show up in the comments to tell people she did indeed have eds , to rage about Ken Seeley because he was her interventionist and claim he and Intervention set her up and edited her episode to make her look bad . She could be a real raging witch with people who didn't believe her and/or mentioned her mistreatment of her brother Sam.

The last time I saw people discussing her it was on a Facebook group she started and her own mods removed her from the group after figuring out she didn't have eds ( I couldn't believe there were people who didn't already know about her)and because she was so nasty to people. She has been banned by several other sites for the same behavior and I won't be surprised if she eventually starts here .

😂.... She's running around like a headless chicken deleting all her comments... I went to screenshot her calling me "Noc" "and it's all gone.

Only IF mods knew that name, it was the first one I got banned from IF on over a week ago before I made the Kaizer Soze name.

I don't know what she thinks deleting her name now is gonna do lol
