There's a reason we have a registry for sex offenders but not for people who actually committed more serious crimes like attempted murder and it's not because society is inherently lenient on sex criminals.

The reason why it's often hard to prove a sexual assault claim isn't because society doesn't care about rape victims, it's because the nature of sexual assault means there's often far less evidence on either side than there is in the event of other crimes. If there's a murder you usually know someone committed a murder because you've got a body with a bullet in it. If there's an alleged rape it's often hard to prove intercourse even happened, much less that the guy accused did it.
