Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Apparently people are saying that Ty forged the signatures on the recent filings. I feel like I missed something here.
vic dropped the case and nick necked himself

and everyone working at BHBH got disbarred

seems this threads gonna be busy for the next 10 or so hours, and then again leading up to a Nick stream if there's one tomorrow. I'm really hoping the hearing goes well, besides the last snaffu regarding the petition to dismiss the TCPA, I think Beard has them right where he wants them, he's got binders of tweets, and their "Binders of Women" as it were has only gotten thinner and less credible. And I don't think it'll be impossible to establish that Vic isn't a public figure, far from it. Fingers crossed laddies.

Ty already asked to be played by Sam Elliott.
Nick picked Ryan Reynolds or
Chris Pine for Vic. FWIW

Overruled on all counts.

Not diverse enough. Ty needs to be a big name actor. Who can do action scenes like when J Shawn's thugs try to blow up his office to scare him off the case.

Now that's just because Chris Pine played Kirk! Chris is too young. Anyone who played Vic would have to be a bit older and super charismatic, and slightly effeminate but can take charge of a situation if needed. He also needs to be super ripped for fight scenes against Ron Toye and Chris Sabat.

I'm guessing perhaps the Kiwis haven't been to many anime conventions? Every single one of them that manages to book multiple VA's has several 18+ panels all in the evening. This is at least hundreds per year. Why isn't anyone scouring for recordings? They would make the Funi leaks look tame. The format is typically Q&A that goes 80% sexual. The drunk VA's, not actually being clever, go for cheap laughs by being as vulgar as possible about fucking each other.

When the female VA's participate, all the male VA's include them in jokes about fucking, orgies, how they would have sex with each other, etc.

When attractive female audience members ask questions, I've heard the male VA hosts work in jokes about how they're going to need to get their dicks sucked if they want to get a response.

This is constant proof of a joking atmosphere involving insane amounts of sexual innuendo and straight forward references.

I'm all for whatever type of humor they want to provide but this kind of comedy is definitely a part of the culture that they're all involved with.

The leaks are to show how bullshit the investigation that led to Vic's firing. You are one week late about the funileaks. Monica and Jamie tried to paint Funimation as this wholesome company and vic was the homophobic rapist when they have possible casting couches, audio outtakes of actual homophobia, rape and pedophilia. The leaks is pointing out the hypocrisy of their employee handbook and bs investigation.

Anyone watch TUGs stream for Stan Dahlin?
Wasn't that good. Erimin is infinitely more comfortable being interviewed. Nothing groundbreaking, best bits were Stan saying there has been jealousy toward Vic for a long time, and verifying that Ayers would say bad things about Vic to his face, as well as behind his back in Stan's presence. Plus Stan admitting he had animosity toward Faisal, who he sold AWA to, from way back.

Maybe have tobey Migure play Nicky rackets, Leoandro can play Ty and Seth Rogan can shave his head to play sabat. Tess holiday could be a great renfamous or Jamie marchi🐳
Call me exceptional, but in all seriousness, I believe Cera could play Nick. Get the haircut, grow a short beard (if he is even capable of growing one), emphasize the facial expressions...He's got the nose, and he could probably sound like Nick vocally with little trouble.

@Blain20_ posted a video from AnimeIcon 2011 where Jamie Marchi tells a story about a crazy fan who she credits as the reason why they had "those locks" at FUNimation and why people needed a pass and a badge to get in.

She said this guy had previously entered Funimation's studio when they were in their old building and preformed a monologue for the talent coordinator and was asked to leave. He kept trying to audition and was not very good. She said that he had moved from Tennessee to be a voice actor at FUNimation and during a panel at a convention he made a scene about how he was the next Vic Mignogna. He left and later, he cornered a voice actress against a wall and demanded that she help him get into the industry. He was kicked out of the convention and was no longer allowed at any conventions in Texas. After he stormed into FUNimation at their new studio and had to be forcibly removed, "those locks" were put in.

The comments say that this was Johnny Otaku.

So some crazy guy who thought he was the next Vic Mignogna makes a scene at FUNimation. The employees jokingly refer to their new security system as "Vic Locks". 10 years later, this bit of FUNimation lore is used to impugn Vic's character by someone who was there when it happened and would know the history behind the so-called "Vic Locks".

Apparently, there was a video of the altercation Jamie describes in the video, but it's no longer on YouTube.

Have people been seeing the Funimation mail to people who cancel their subscriptions? HAHAHAHAH :story: They must be VERY desperate to get back those that leave them...
You mean “we’re sad to see you go. Here’s a sweet deal for you to stay”? That’s most membership services online.
Not a WOP but Willem Dafoe at least kinda looks like an older Vic

Ah, Willem Defoe, Green Goblin And Agent Paul Smecker(I think that’s his last name) from Boondocks Saints. At least he’s good for an unintentional laugh of things go south.

Having been to one of these panels, they usually say at the beginning to not record or share anything at the panel.

If only there was a contract explaining what to do and not do with the IP. I’m sure some rule was broken.

You are a terrific researcher, this is a nice find.

For every claim Jamie Marchi makes, there's a video where she contradicts herself.

The stupidity astounds.

Well boys and girls, kiwis and lurkers, this is it. The Season 2 finale of WeebWars is almost upon us. Season 1 had a shaky start, with just Nicky Rackets trying to hold the story together, but really picked up steam with the introduction of Ty Beard. And that triumphant ending as the lawsuit was filed and the opposition was sent scrambling for cover as the war truly began. Here, we either enter Season 3 triumphant, riding the high of the TCPA victory, or we are left hanging, with an inconclusive hearing, or even a loss. Either way, the writers have truly outdone themselves. Season 1 had a great cast, Shane, Marzgurl, Beth Elderkin, ANN, io9, all the classics. Season 2 really brought the heat with the Lawtwitter arc, and although Douchette, J Sean, and Dunford may not have lived up to Shane, they have brightened all of our lives and thrown the story into fresh new directions. And who could have forgotten the Leaks arc, the Toye revelations and subsequent downfall of the Tragic Hero Joseph, followed immediately by the DB audio leaks. It may have seemed corny on paper but damn it if the animators, writers, and actors managed to pull it off. Lets just hope that the writers keep up the quality of pacing and characters, despite the already high bar.

Season 1; The Phantom Lawsuit
Season 2; The Mignogna Strikes Back
Season 3; ???????????????????????
