Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

if you have any pride or respect for shane, i encourage you to watch his guest appearance on nick's stream from months ago. he is a clout-chasing buffoon who is willing to lie to 'own the haydurs' and is probably a pedophile after he married his friends barely legal daughter who he "definitely did not meet until she was legal".
The only respect I have for shane is his stand power to make the ISWV users sperg, and yet at the same time sperg himself in some kind of a Ouroboros of autism.

Since this is sort of a wake, I want to say that if Ty was my lawyer I wouldn't have been happy that he went on Nick's show at all. I'd keep the internet spergs at an arm's distance. I don't think it at all impacted what happened yesterday, but I think it showed poor judgment. I know you guys love Nick, but he gets very antagonistic and sparks 'tism wars that I wouldn't want my council related with.

And I am proud of shane for lasting that long in the first place.

Truth is I am still not sure if he really thinks what he says, or this is a God Tier Long Con to piss off the ISWV users that post here, and give us free lulz.

My theory is that Shane knows this whole witch hunt is horseshit and in reality, doesn't even remotely like Ron, Rial or Marchi. He just keeps supporting them because he hates Nick. Nick made an ass out of him so whatever cause Nick is against, he'll be on board with.

That's exactly it. But he'll never win against Nick no matter how the case goes, because Nick isn't some asshole who can't admit he's wrong about things.
Personally I would love for Shane to sperg out on a stream with Nick again, but then I'd also fear for Nick's sanity in having to deal with him, so maybe better to just ignore him.

If BHBH hadn't done any PR for Vic, they would have bet everything on the outcome on their case and done their client a disservice. Nick said very early on that this case needed to be waged in public and it's hard to disagree with that. There is a lot of uncertainty in court and their remedy were he to win is to award damages, which some of the defendants might have trouble paying.

And let's not forget that all the attention Nick brought upon the case did serve a legal purpose. It put pressure on the defendants to settle, they haven't, mostly because of the TCPA, but I can't fathom that FUNimation would want to endure any more of this should the judge rule against them on defamation. The damage that has been done to their brand and their business has been immense and that's without them producing anything in discovery.

Thank you for the info. From what I've heard, this was partially the judge treating this as an evidentiary hearing and partially Ty being very unprepared. I just think it's odd that Ty presented himself as a wargamer that's prepared for everything and then it turns out he wasn't prepared for something like this at all. I am genuinely curious: has Vic thought about changing counsel? Or hiring additional counsel? Am not wowed by ty anymore, although I like him as a person.
Ty was prepared for a TCPA hearing. It seems that Chupp was not. To expect Ty to be prepared to produce evidence that legally should not be required is unrealistic, really

Guys I had rest, talking to another kiwi, talking to wife, and seriously thinking this over to come to some conclusions.

First I want to thank the poster @Ie Nay Nein No
for this post

Long but well worth it

Secondly I wish to offer a different opinion on the judge. While I believe their standards are ridiculous, it does seem the standards is to favor the defense as a whole(not just this defense in this case) when reading those 3 complaints. If the unreasonable standards set for Ty against moron and funi were not outright dismissed by the judge then and there, it is possible he wont be dismissing them at all. He could have easily dismiss those charges too since he could still be appealed for the stuff he did dismiss.

Also there is still the fuckery that can be done to funi and co with the olympics hanging over their head. Also I wish to thanks @Svetlana for the update on vic and what is going on with Ty and them. The man made some mistakes, but hope he has learned from them and knows how to move forward. Nick will do the court of public opinion and Ty does the court of law.

Anyways I am still backing away for the weekend, but wanted to post this at least.

Edit: I am sorry for my neg posting last night and if it might have put anyone in a bad mindset over this that might have attributed to more neg posting.
In TCPA, the judge is legally required to favor the plaintiff, actually. Clearly, he did not

I know Vic doesn't frequent or care about the Farms (as well he shouldn't). But if it will help, let him know the most nit-picking, obsessive people on the Internet have looked at everything and believe him.
Vic has never visited The Farms to my knowledge. I had an account (lurker) for months before he even knew. Not that I was hiding the fact or anything (as Lemoine may have hinted in his deposition) - at that point the blows were coming constantly and I was doing my best to shield him from the hurtful minutiae and get him just the facts he needed to make decisions.

I'd like to thank each of you who has taken an interest in this case and, most importantly, in the truth. Until I came here, I was serving as a repository for discovery type stuff that would get sent from all over or that I would dig up myself. The Farms lightened my load TREMENDOUSLY by doing much of this gathering. You all literally made my life more manageable!

I have told Vic this several times, and he is eternally grateful to anyone who has helped! He is aware that this is absolutely not an ISWV site, and that makes it all the more remarkable

Hard disagree. The lawsuit is second to the court of opinion. Ty being on has helped more for Vic and it is entertaining. I bet you would be saying that even if Ty lost Marchi only. Ty should not dedicate and dictate his life to only Vic. He's a lawyer at the end of the day representing a client. No reason to play police. Not our call in all honesty.

Hey, @Svetlana, I wanted to ask a question:

We know that after all that's happened in the last 8 months, that Vic going and doing the old way of working is likely not going to happen (especially with Funimation burning down from the inside.) But how has he been doing with regards to other work opportunities? (don't divulge details, but broad overview is best.)

I know that there are a few non-traditional animation places that have him on board for voicing, but I am wondering if he's been looking at other potential opportunities out there, like more general voice over work or potentially doing work within the religious community.

EDIT: to get rid of wrong quote.

BHBH had monetary compensation at the bottom of their list in the initial hearing. Vic's reputation seemed to be their priority.

I'm not sure if it was a joke or not but Lemonparty having a powerpoint presentation with pictures of literal dumpster fires crying children and tryhard boomer memes is funny as fuck to me, in a "what not to do" unprofessional way.

God what I wouldn't give to get a copy of that presentation. It sounds amazing and infinitely memable.

We really need a J Shawn appreciation for all the great material he has given us.

I hope he gets the ConSLUT of his choice for the work he has done. Jennifer Lynn Hunt would be perfect.

I said this in the case thread, but... it was a complete disaster by the Judge. He had no idea what he was doing in regards of standards of evidence, he treated it as a motion for summary judgement which you do *after* discovery, but I think the most egregious thing he did is this:

He rejected Vic's claims for TI with prospective business because Ty could not prove damages from cancelled contracts... which is TI with existing contracts. He pretty much overruled a claim because he couldn't prove a different one.. in a TCPA.

The thought that we helped in detective work for a makeup artist who's a friend with a guy who wears pants a rocker going through a midlife crisis does tickles me.

That sentence offends my inner grammar Nazi.

I agree with you on all counts. I would even add that as much as I like Nick and his content, I hope to god this latest development gets him to focus on something else. I'm so tired of having every one of his streams be about weeb wars. He is talented at explaining law things and there are so many other interesting things to cover.
