Horrorcow Kristina Paige Klein / Krissy Klein / Klein Journey of Hope - Fundie Christian mom, turns her daughters into frankendolls with repeated brain surgeries, either MbP or worst case of taking dr's advice ever

I had trouble picking between winner or horrifying at your OP. I chose winner because you did a great job, but the content is certainly horrifying.

Those two beautiful girls are being tortured by their mother. The fact that every single wound seems to get infected is also quite alarming. Her taking pictures of crying, suffering kids is unbelievable. It teaches nothing, despite her assertions.

I read a bit about Chiari, and while it’s a rare disease, it seems that watching and waiting to see how it goes is standard. Often, it never needs treatment. They don’t jump to surgeries-unless it’s making life difficult or is severe. Seeing the girls dance, cheer, run around before the diagnosis leads me to think that mother looked up symptoms and convinced her kids they had them and relayed this to doctors so her kids would have the surgery. Having two girls with the severe form seems against the odds.

ED and POTS are included in every munchies diagnosis. If I hear that, my ears perk up as I’m certain it’s faking. I’m aware that they are real conditions, of course, but they are the major trend in the “look at me, I’m sick” playbook. But guess what? Some kids are flexible, and can become contortionists, and some digest slow. It’s called being skinny, which is so rare now nobody recognizes it these days. In none of those posts did I read about subluxations or other manifestations of the disorder-ones she couldn’t fake, at least.

And as often in these severe Munchausen cases, the husband is a stupid weakling who ignores his family and lets his wife take over. It’s the greatest manifestation of “yes, dear” there is.

Her own health issues are as obviously fake as that missing twin. There is lots of interesting tests and stuff that happens with a breast cancer diagnosis, that you think she’d have loved to write about and capitalize on Instead, it’s just a “I’m having a partial mastectomy today, please pray”. Where’s the biopsies? The MRIs? The threat of metastatic disease? The pink ribbon crap? Nope, not there. And her heart difficulties-what, high cholesterol? She’s looking pretty chunky.

It’s also interesting that she hasn’t tortured her boys. One has allergies? The other has nothing? Why is that? Maybe it’s true that there is jealousy, or being a Jesus freak, maybe she devalues girls. Or, maybe it’s coming. Watch out boys.

It hurts my heart to see those lovely girls tortured so this cow mother can get attention. I hope whatever happened to cause suspicion keeps happening. Because, whoever did it is absolutely right. Seems like a few doctors have caught on (all those uncaring evil doctors she has to pray for) but when you doctor shop you can usually find one who will go along with the previous diagnosis.

She called God the Main Physician or something. Just wow.

Good, yet tragic, find.

Not really a powerlevel because I don't care who knows, but someone closely related to me is a self proclaimed "chiari warrior" as well. She's a munchie mom deep in denial as they all are who doctor shopped to get her diagnosis. Four doctors told her she did NOT have chiari but the fifth agreed with her web md self diagnosis and she became a fellow zipper head. She is in several fb groups dedicated to "chiari moms" and wears "chiari warrior" merch nearly every day. If she coughs, she blames chiari, if she farts, must be that damn chiari!!! She claims to have EDS as well and began munchie-ing herself once her kids got older and began leaving home because she no longer was receiving the attention she is so desperate for. My point here being I ended up learning a lot about chiari and was told by more than one medical professional that a malformation this severe is usually caught at birth and corrected. I'm calling bullshit on this one. They would really only meet the requirements of type 1 and the abnormalities begin in utero. They wouldn't have been able to be as physically active as they were without great discomfort. If this mother isn't causing these so called issues herself, i'll be really fucking shocked. Also, strangely enough....the relative I mentioned above also faked a miscarriage of a supposed twin that never even existed and made up stories that the twin was watching the surviving sibling from heaven. Once you throw in the feeding tubes and reoccurring infections, this is all typical munchie behavior.

As a person who is not religious and who knows nothing about religion, I want to know if “God is big” is a common phrase, or is it something she’s trying to make happen? It’s said a lot, by the kids as well as in her posts. I’ve never heard it before but then I pretty much ignore God stuff.

I went through her Facebook quickly and it seems she’s not a frequent poster, and she’s also a vaguebooker. She’s “having a scan, pray for her.“ She’s going to a medical center, lift her in prayer. She posts an article about cancer written by somebody else. Very few real details.

Have to wonder if it came from the kids watching this...super popular in religious families.

You’re quite correct, severe Chiari malformation is detectable with a standard anatomy ultrasound at around 18-20 weeks (eta: weeks of pregnancy, the scan where people find out the gender and all that) and then further diagnosing is done with a fetal MRI.

When I saw the pictures of the family, esp the girls, I thought "Are these the beings Epstein wanted to create??" Ugh

There is something eerily creepy about the beauty queen pageant type pictures. They looks like dolls, verging on Jon Benet territory. And that creepy youtube with all the pictures of the little girls comes off as a pedo brochure. YUCK

This lady's language is all over the place too in terms of deception. More on that later.

@large_farva Great post but freaky af!!

Holy fuck, this is gold. Great thread, OP.

I'm curious about this:
Trying to get eosinophilic esophagitis dx for the son, which is a trend with mbp moms right now because if you play your cards right it's a feeding tube to fuck with.
How did you find this out? Where can we find more of these MBP moms?

OP you have done a yeoman's work putting this together. Excellent job, and thank you for exposing this murderous bitch. I hope that the internet exposure isn't the end of it, I hope she ends up going the way of Susan Schofield and those poor kids are taken somewhere safe.

Little bit of a powerlevel here, but someone I know was diagnosed with chiari 1 malformation. You would need to have it show on an MRI -- so, I doubt that she could con a doctor into that type of surgery. However, about 5 years ago, it was still considered experimental -- at least by their insurance company. There was a debate whether it was medically necessary or helpful to have such a surgery. The surgeon this person saw got into some trouble for a malpractice case which ultimately led to them deciding not to pursue the surgery but rather dealing with the symptoms of the chiari. Their neurologist also didn't recommend the surgery, either, for what it is worth.

Maybe she isn't faking illness, but she does get off on the martyr syndrome. Those poor kids having their medical issues blasted all over the internet. You don't want future employers to have that kind of info some day. They aren't supposed to take that kind of information into consideration -- but they totally do. I don't know why she wouldn't want to protect their medical information.
There are absolutely doctors who will operate on questionable "Chiari" cases. There was a high profile case in Oregon five years ago, involving another MBP mom and a US Senate candidate doctor:

But Parker has written extensively online. In a 2008 Yahoo groups post, Parker complains that an Oregon Health & Science University doctor refused to diagnose her son, then 2 years old, with chiari, a brain condition, citing an MRI that did not show the condition. She eventually settled on Wehby, she wrote.

@KateFarmsShill helped me out with the analysis there, I figured they'd seen enough munchies to help.
Check the munchie thread, it's more than just moms though.

If you are able to follow the timeline ( something I would like to summarize but the way Krissy constantly reposts photos and talks about upcoming surgeries so frequently makes it difficult to sort through)
The younger daughter had a decompression surgery in Dec 2015, a surgery that literally took MONTHS to get. If it was a Chiari, and IF it really needed surgery so badly, then why wasn't it done almost immediately?
I've spoken to a mother with a child who was born with medical issues and is disabled. The child had some legit "brain issues"
Once they fixed one thing, the child's brain literally fell down into the area with his brain stem. Surgery was performed very quickly from that discovery.
If there's brain stem compression, then wouldn't surgery be more urgent than several months out?

Here is the only image Krissy has given us of Avee's head before her first surgery:
A MRI before.png She drew on it for us. This was pulled from one of their youtube videos of fight song for their presh little warrior.

And another creepypasta - Krissy does countdowns to surgery - as if surgery isn't already stressful and scary enough, let's get a reminder every single day that it's coming soon. (I'm hearing a susan schofield YAYYYYYYY when Krissy gets a surgery approved)

"these countdowns never get easier" - THEN STOP FUCKING DOING IT.

countdowns for free stress.png

Dad acts very passive. There's a spoiler near the end about Krissy's health and he posts for her a few times, but can't give any details, he says everyone will have to wait until Krissy explains - then she never does.
This tells me that she is purposely vague with him - but he's a fucking radiologist, he has to know something is up.

Can anyone else figure out when he was away in the services?
In some of these MbP cases, the husband is deployed and the perpetrator will feign illness in themselves or child(ren) to get him home sooner - the red cross will even help in some cases.

FWIW, Krissy grew up in foster care.

If it weren't for Krissy's claim that she only does this to share what it's like and raise awareness; shoving graphic photos of her children suffering in everyone's face; she might have had me fooled, except for the vague explanations and lack of details.
Especially regarding the breast cancer - she has women who have gone through it telling her what kind they had and talking about their lumpectomy and asking Krissy about clear margins - she completely avoids the question and instead says "I have 2 tumors *sad face*"

It's a quote from the younger daughter.

I may have missed this in the OP - but religion is a way that Krissy has kept her little 'warriors' in agreement with medical intervention. She has used Jesus to confuse these children. The younger one thinks Jesus had a feeding tube, too.
The older daughter, at least for a while, thought she was suffering like christ, and that god would fix her if she kept praying.

The older daughter is 11 and suicidal.

I believe she offers the children plenty of support, but it's not because they are suffering, it's because she enjoys the role.

Honestly, I think she just picked the daughters because she always saw them as little dolls that she could dress in cute outfits, play with their hair, and show off for attention. (It probably also helped that they were only a year apart in age.) She started off with pageants and attempts at modeling, but it seems that after the youngest got diagnosed with Celiac, she found that she really liked the "mommy martyr of Chronic Illness Warriors made strong by faith in God" role, and kept chasing it.

I'm wondering if the husband seems so passive because Krissy is some kind of borderline trainwreck who turns into a screeching harpy and threatens to never let him see the kids again if he ever hints at disagreeing with her. Are there ever any posts/input from him, or does Krissy control the entire narrative?

This IS the most horrifying thing I have read on kiwifarms yet. I am not religious but I have a pet hate peeve for people who use other's people's faith against them to abuse, and in this case, maim them. And little kids too.

I need to bleach my brain after reading this.

When someone is dealing with breast cancer, they get a LOT of very detailed information. Margins are important, there is a very fine line between 'a lumpectomy will get it' and 'sorry, your breast has to go'.

Omg those poor babies, religion and an insane mother. This is very upsetting, I can't even think of what I want to say.

What the hell makes this obscure disease Chiari such an alluring target for Munchausen by proxy moms? Especially because I’ve never heard of it before now (and probably never would have unless for this website).
Because it has vague, nonspecific symptoms, it is relatively common, it sounds horrific to laypeople ("ZOMG YOUR BRAINS ARE FALLING OUT??") and the imaging can be fudged by less-than-vigilant doctors.

Symptoms
Symptoms vary widely, depending on the type and severity. Sometimes the disorder has no symptoms, and the condition is found only after an MRI scan for an unrelated condition.
Common symptoms include:
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Pain in the neck, shoulders and back
  • Problems with feeding and swallowing
  • Problems with balance and walking
  • Numbness and tingling in hands and feet
  • Vision problems
  • Sleep apnea (breathing interruptions during sleep)
  • Bladder problems
