I thought only the Japanese version of the Pooh ride had trackless technology? The only current trackless ride I know of in California is whatever the Luigi ride in Cars Land is now.

Glad you had a good day, that much more resembles the Disneyland I remember than the hot mess they're making of adding new IPs to the park. I agree that despite hating Disney as a company the parks are still enjoyable. As much as they want to get rid of the old shit people love and replace it with new bland and marketable garbage that's a lot harder to do with the parks. (Unless the park is Epcot, RIP) Indiana Jones is my favorite ride there by far. People love the mountains, but Indy is my choice of 'big' ride there. You're absolutely right about Matterhorn, btw. I feel like the main reason people ride it is because of its history and status as a Disneyland Only Mountain, because everyone knows it'll kill your back. It used to be better before they changed the cars.
Yeah, the mass trend of IP dumping in the parks just feels extremely weak. Part of what made Disneyland so great is that it had so many unique narratives independent of the limited number of franchises they had - like, Enchanted Tiki Room itself is literally nothing but a hybridized showpiece of (now long since dated) animatronic technology controling dozens of hanging birds, etc.
and has the Dole Whip stall parked right at the entrance with the implication being you can still eat the Dole Whip
while in the Tiki Room. Or Haunted Mansion, where there really isn't even a plot - more like a dozen smaller plots like the entire attic being dedicated to the Bride/Constance, but it remains a hugely popular attraction because it's basically THE haunted house of all haunted houses.
Of course, that didn't stop them from trying to turn the unique rides
into franchises, which unfortunately Pirates has paid the price on since what little discernable plot it had is kinda ruined because pretty much EVERY scene in the back half of the ride with spoken lines, aside from the auction scene,
somehow had to include Jack Sparrow who is just looking for treasure and has absolutely nothing to do with the whole town getting pillaged. Haunted Mansion, thankfully, escaped having Eddie Murphy shoved in it.
What happened, the earthquakes in July? I was under the impression that since the quake epicenter was so far away that it didn't affect anything in the park.

EDIT: Also, a follow up on my thoughts about bringing the Thermal Detonator coke bottle through TSA screening. Absolutely nothing about it- in fact, the guy doing the screening seemed more pissed off because I forgot to remove a single used tissue from my pocket when I went through the body scanner!
