Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

The interesting thing about guys like Corbin getting lumped in with the concept of /pol/-lite posters is that, if memory serves me right, he absolutely hated sperging about "da Joos" and various racial arguments.

You (figurative you) don't like that A&H is becoming a bit of a circlejerk? Then post and defend your position.

Another thing that could probably be done is to institute a rule that says if, say, Person X already has a recent thread with an article about them, and a new one comes up, post the article in that thread. That way we don't get 3-4 threads about Greta Thunberg.

Every board has its problem users, the beauty parlor cunts powerlevel constantly, the chris chan threads still get idiotic spergs, the furry threads get filled with degenerate faggots, ece. Sure, there is plenty of shitposting, but that's harmless, and users like Dynastia did that for years without issue.

The irony of Null bitching that part of his site leans further right then the rest of the site; and calls from users for A+H to be nuked because it is "toxic /pol posting/alt-right shithole" is not lost on me.

Only the really extreme opinions get dogpiled like @Rice Is Ready with "muh jews" or @Ashy the Angel's form of communism (which I'll admit, I took part in dogpiling that as well as the former too). Can you name any other examples of dogpiling?

More megathreads might also help. Thunberg needs one if it isn't there already with how much interest people have in her exploitation. The Britbong News one has been a godsend. It turned individual threads about something stupid the government did with pages of dunking on the UK into one cohesive collection of articles semi-up to date with the odd drive by. Same thing in a way with The Squad thread and the unofficial Brexit one, those have been helpful for those who keep up with them.

That's not dogpiling and as far as I'm aware multiple boards on this site, including any board where the center lolcow is a troon misgenders said troon.

Personally, it isn't really a joke, we do it in spite of them being transgender because to end up on this site, they're certainly other aspects other than the fact that they are being a troon that make them end up there. It's a way of feeding their delusions of "REE REE KIWIFARMS ATTACKS TROONS BECAUSE THEY ARE TROONSPHOBIC".

Look, the way I see it, the biggest problem with A&H is that there seems to little to no middle ground when it comes to discussions. There can be no compromise, you're either with them or completely against them, everything is has to be black, and white. There's no nuance, and it makes have any sort of discussion that goes against popular opinion incredibly frustrating.

I hate most of A&H's content, but it's one of the places on this website that I view the most. It definitely shouldn't be removed or moderated further. If you don't like the content, don't read it. Or rather; if you don't like it and can't deal with the fact you don't like it, don't read it. It's very simple.

When multiple people say something is a common occurrence, yet they don't list any examples of that common occurrence, it becomes questionable to the person who is curious of what they mean by that response to interject, a demanding "what do you mean" type response.

I think one problem with the staff and mods of this site, personally, is that when they say something is occurring like Null is, they don't say whodunit. The opposing force mentioned examples in this thread, but not the people who are complaining about A&H in the first place. If you actually delivered examples of certain people in A&H being bad (beyond MULTIASS and the Brenton Tarrant thread, a one-week mess), one could work a compromise of sorts. I didn't even know A&H was the butt of the joke until an Inner-Circle thread said it was and frankly other than those two examples I exemplified, I really like to know why. I don't comment on A&H really more than once or twice a day (not really an A&H regular persay, though I do comment on there often), but I've never really found it that bad and to say I'm part of the circlejerk if I don't understand the problem (like @yawning sneasel said earlier) is dumb if you're not going to call out the names of the people who are the cause of the problem in the first place. It's like a teacher trying to group the whole class in trouble all because of a few nutjobs and not really picking out the nutjobs. There is quite the disconnect between the interests of the staff and mods and the interests of the regular pleb farmers.

As for the board itself, yeah, it's fucked. I like the idea of a sensible news board, but I could just see that just trending right again as that's the nature of this forum.

The majority of dumbfucks on the Internet that are worth laughing at seem to trend left, and thus people who trend right are more likely to join up and join in.
