Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Congrats to EVS on getting his book shipped, and I hope all the backers enjoy the comic.

That being said, this quote:
I'm in no rush to start the campaign though, so I don't consider the clock started until I do.
Implies that if you are interested in Reignbow Brute you are probably going to wait till at least 2024 for the actual product, going by previously established timelines.

Dan Slott once referred to followers on twitter as just “pixels on a screen” for reference (specifically during his interview on EVS’ channel, which is still up to view). His logic was sound enough. If you don’t want to deal with bs on social media you have every right to ignore the people who bring it to you. It just rings as disingenuous when he’s blocking people and simultaneously taking vague jabs at people he disagrees with.

As for the Mark Pellegrini thing, is anyone surprised that people still unironically using the CG hashtag are now in the phase of purity testing people purely based on likes?

Why does Ethan acts as if the release completely cancels the delay? It stops the fuck up counter from going further but you still fucked up and got out done by every other guy in the town.

UPD: also, using sales as a measure of success... makes a little bit sense when you're talking to an established business yes but using it against a fellow indie guy is pathetic. Especially when Tim objectively did an overall better job: more consistent product, delivered on time, better prices, didn't turn his Twitter feed into a sad reality show, quit livestream circlejerk quietly in comparison to all the other childish fagot-fights you guys had.

How the fuck did the Tweeter know it was traced Cheese Pizza? 🤔 That's what I'd like to know, but was too cowardly to ask.
There is also some bitching about the quality of the paper, the page count, etc. Since I didn't buy it, I can't say, but it sounds like EVS continues to live rent free in these people's heads. I do like how this guy claims it was supposed to be 80 pages, but then can't show where EVS ever said it was going to be 80 pages.

Is all forgiven Chelsea Cain now? She's on a panel at NYCC, according to this article:

Rachel Miner to Join the NYCC Next Gen Nerds Panel with Travis McElroy, Clint McElroy, and more!

Rachel Miner (Supernatural, Executive Director Random Acts) is heading back to New York Comic Con this year! You can see her on the ‘Next Gen Nerds with Travis McElroy, Clint McElroy and Special Guests’ Panel on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Room 1A21 in the Javits Center. She’ll be joining Travis and Clint McElroy (The Adventure Zone), Chelsea Cain (Man-Eaters, Mockingbird), Gaby Dunn (Bury the Lede), and Jonathan Coulton (Portal, Solid State) for a nerdy discussion!

Here’s the full NYCC Panel description:
“As generations of nerds give way to the new generations of nerds, what better way to talk about it than with one of pop culture’s favorite nerdy families? Real father and son podcasting/writing team Clint McElroy and Travis McElroy (The Adventure Zone) and several celebrity guests TBA host a conversation about the challenges and responsibilities of influencing the next generation of nerds. What is important to pass on and how do we do it? They will be approaching the subject both as parents and as creators. The panelists will be sharing what they have learned and maybe even learning from each other. Come, enjoy, and maybe even ask a question or two.”
We at Nerds and Beyond are so excited for this panel! Stay tuned for more NYCC info these next few weeks!

Didn't her comic book literally murder 80 million trannies, though? 🤷‍♂️

Still no Twitter, though. At least from what I can see.

Thomas Roiloup does covers for episodes of The Dick Show, so I wouldn't take the CP part too seriously. This article from Toy Lab cites a Kickstarter update for where the 80 (technically 8) page figure came from. This guy claims that 88 is a reference to 1488.

Got my copy of Cyberfrog today... I was a tad underwhelmed. The art was great but I was hoping for the story to be a little more coherent.

It’s a book called “Cyberfrog” about a mutant frog alien and his salamander brother fighting space wasps in New Jersey. Were you expecting “The Killing Joke”?

No, but I was expecting expecting a story where I at least got to know the characters and not be placed in the middle of an ongoing storyline where I don't even know what's going or what powers the characters even have.

I support Ethan and his comic, but I am going to voice my criticism on what I felt could be improved in the comic.

Bruh. I didn’t even know he opened a fourth campaign for this book for another 3 variant covers. Wasn’t the variant cover scam one of the things CG was against?

The FOURTH campaign!!! Variant cover scams aren't offering more product to people who want it. It's forcing retailers to stock multiple copies of the same book, which makes them buy more copies than they know they have customers for, which bumps up their numbers.

There is NO DEMAND for that.

I'm simply meeting the demand for Frog books!

@FROG is planning to make a hardcover omnibus of the original 1998 release of Cyberfrog titled "CYBERFROG: WARTS AND ALL." Keep an eye out for it, if you want the full story.

Perhaps “scam” isn’t the word I’m looking for. If you’re fulfilling the books, and said books are actually filled with pictures and words as promised then people are getting what they paid for. I’m just curious what the sales numbers would be if each subsequent campaign didn’t come with a new cover.

That said, it’s less egregious (and confusing) than the IGGs we’ve seen with a million billion covers and - in some cases - multiple books in a single campaign (also with variant covers).
