Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Disney is basically the real-life first order in my eyes. Parading around as a meek copy of something far better that came before, snuffing out any opposition with lawsuits and pay offs. TLJ was basically the equivalent of blowing up starkiller.

I notice with Daisy's quote on Chris Terrio it seems like the cast has been briefed by marketing to really emphasize that the writers actually liked and cared about Star Wars lore for this one. You know as opposed to that other director/writer we know and love

I know someone else probably made this comparison and I'm late but TLJ really ripped off its premise from Battlestar Galactica with the Colonial Resistance fleet running from the Cylons First Order.
Isn't just old and nu Battlestar Galactica TLJ ripped off but the whole sub-genre/trope of protagonist(s) ship and crew chased by antagonist(s) which has existed since at least WWI.

Since I love bring up the comparisons between the management of Star Wars and Power Rangers under Disney, I would like to remind you all that the Red Ranger’s acting in Megaforce is better than Daisy Ridley’s acting.

I mean, the sequels don’t have these kind of so bad it’s good scenes.

Yeah but Jan Ors was attractive, pleasant looking woman....

That's not acceptable today. It had to be an asian who looked like a pancake.

With that said, if Rose was an endearing character, her bridge troll apperance, would be fine. But, that's not the case.
Believe it or not, Kelly Tran was intentionally depicted as frumpy just so they could have a "she's beautiful all along" moment at Canto Bight, but that moment got cut (yes, there was even more Canto Bight bullshit, this one involving a jewel heist). She's not anywhere near as unflattering in reality, but no one would know that if TLJ was the only depiction of her that they've seen.

On the subject of Midichlorians, the last episode arc of The Clone Wars (which Lucas was heavily involved in) had Yoda meet some mystical Force Priestesses on Dagobah (he was trying to learn how to become a Force Ghost like Qui-Gon Jinn almost became), and they dismissed such things as the Jedi trying to put a scientific explanation on how the Force works. Make of that what you will.

(For context, this is Paige Tico, played by Ngo Thanh Van. Unlike her worthless sister, Paige saved resistance lives instead. If you want to have a moment of hilarious 'All look same' woke racism, Ngo is vietnamese and Kelly is Korean, but obviously sisters because who can tell Asian people apart, amirite?)
Tran's a Vietnamese name and she's claimed in multiple interviews to be the child of Vietnam refugees, who told you she was Korean?

I still think if it weren't for the fact that pointing it out would give points to the dreaded nerds, TLJ would have triggered a lot of woke op-eds about the chauvinistic way it treats many of its female characters, Rose Tico in particular.

I could have sworn I saw she was of Korean descent in one of the 8,000 "Kelly Tran deletes fucking everything because mean youtube comments are violence". I'd never peg them as sister, but my mistake; all really do look same.

I'd never peg them
I would.

Kelly Marie Tran is somewhat attractive, the guys at Disney just went out of their way to make her look like a burlap sack with a potato on top.
I wouldn't use the past perfect tense there, considering the recently released comic cover posted earlier.

Making Rose look like a scrotum with varicocele was done on purpose by Rian MAHDEEEEK to allow for a scene wherein she dons a fancy dress to go undercover, wowing her janitor buddy and the audience; however, the scene was never filmed or even put into pre-prodution (to my knowledge anyway, unlike the bizarre massage parlour bit), and wouldn't have worked because Kelly Marie Tran is too short (5 foot 1, or 1,57 m) to pull it off.

It was a stupid idea anyhow, purposely gimping a character's looks for a lame pay-off in an unnecessary B-plot. But of course, for the sake of being consistently stupid, her design wasn't changed now that there would be no pay off but instead left as is. Toys went unsold en masse, China irrevocably rejected the franchise (audiences there are notorious for wanting to see beautiful people on screen) to the point where Solo had to be marketed as 'Ranger Solo' without the Star Wars strapline, and JJ is left unable to pull a 180 on her design for fear of people realizing the massive course correction taking place.

Here is a figure image of the FO Jet Trooper. Looks like it’s just a modified design of the FO Snowtrooper armor.
Both the design in the photo as well as the actual product look terrible!
It literally looks like a cheap chinese knock-off remold, just lookt at how shoddy the edges are.

I'd deem his acting method superior to Daisy Ridley's only for his ability to close his mouth.

I actually think Kelly Marie Tran (Rose's actress) did a good job with the horrible cringey dialogue she had. Its not her fault the character was poorly written.
The lines are fine, save for one. Not poorly written in terms of dialogue.

That's not the issue with these movies, the scripting is fine(for the most part). It's much better than the prequels. The problem is the plotting, story, and characterizations. It's the narrative choices, not how it's, mechanically, expressed. In some ways, it's the inverse problem of the prequels...

I disagree with this part, I absolutely think that the dialogue was a huge issue in the movie. You can have awkward dialogue that's acted well and awkward dialogue that's acted awkwardly. For instance, Ewan leaned towards the former at several points in the prequels. That said, KMT is a much better actress than I thought she was going to be considering her history with CollegeHumor, she deserves to have a better chance. Hopefully she's written better in this movie and people at least say "hey, she wasn't terrible this time around".

She might, in the 20 or so seconds she shows up for. Rose Tico is Rian's pet character and won't stand a chance under JJ - the complete lack of her showing in the trailers, promo material (only being subbed onto the second version of the poster for phallic alien), and toys is already hinting at this.

I wish KMT the best and hope her career takes off (was it ever at a point where it can 'recover', considering CollegeHumor and TLJ?), but TROS is a write-off for her.
