Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

I phrased that poorly, I wasn't referring to sock accounts so much as the fact that Corbin Dallas Multipass keeps re-regging after multiple bans. Him and a few other Boomers that joined the Farms during the Kavanaugh hearing are the biggest contributors to the current circlejerk, by my estimation. It was when we had to make a dedicated AOC thread and it was subsequently filled with Facebook tier Boomer memes that I realized we had a problem.

Why don't you report him for socking? Either way complaining about "farming ratings" makes it seem like you do that, since most people here don't give a shit. If I cared about dumb ratings I'd just stop posting in this thread.

The last two pages are more indicative of the sort of posts you see on A&H. A couple people get offended personally, start making stuff about them, and make garbage posts to "own" whoever they feel slighted them. Getting neg rates or removing rates altogether doesn't fix this behavior because it's a posting problem. Also @It's HK-47 deserves a medal for having some of the most well cited and thought out posts on this subforum and I don't expect everyone to be that thorough all the time, but the quality of his posts are very high because they are argumentatively sound. Nothing really needs to be banned. Just keep in mind, if an A&H post gets your autism in a dander, take 5 minutes before hitting Post Reply and revise your post and it's also viable to just hit the disagree reaction and walk away.

Among the general population of Farms posters; if you look at the ratio, you'll see there's a fair number of people who are upvoting them, which suggests that the issue is a bit more than just one or two people.

Can you people stop complaining over negative ratings? It's truly unreal that so many in here care so much about them.

Honestly, it's as if some Kiwi Farmers really do care about their reaction scores, or actually get their feelings hurt if they get negative ratings.

There is a setting option to turn off notifications for reactions and keep responses. You can literally edit settings to filter that out. I have mine off as I'm only interested in responses and would like a filter. And yeah, seems some people do care about their online ratings from randoms on the internet...for some weird reason.

The second one, about the SAS, was clearly an off-the-cuff joke that you didn't like for whatever reason.

That was mine, clearly I was 100% serious and am some sort of alt-right neo nazi instead of a drive by poster trying to crack a joke.
