I am pretty sure that's usually how it's supposed to work. Conditions like depression can manifest in a mind boggling number of strange and seemingly unrelated ways. And it's medically much less complicated than the process of transitioning.

Here's an interesting thing.

Everyone thought that troons had a decreased risk of prostate cancer. Orchiectomy,, spironolactone, Lupron, well, they were all used as treatments for prostate cancer back in the day. Less testosterone, less PSA.

Except no patients on these methods of treatment were also on exogenous estrogen. They were decreasing androgens. The prostate has beta estrogen receptors, and oh yeah within the last few years we discovered that estrogen can contribute to prostate cancer. Which should come as no surprise.

If you're a troon reading this, please go to your PCP for regular prostate exams.

I have seen a fair number of them with even more extensive psychiatric histories, kids who had been on things like quetiapine or a standard hardcore severe bipolar with psychotic features-comorbid anxiety cocktail like lithium plus an anticonvulsant, SSRI or SNRI for the anxiety, antipsychotic, something PRN for sleep or prazosin for nightmares, propanolol, etc, and chucked them all, sometimes cold turkey, because "really, I wasn't bipolar or schizoaffective, it was just the gender feels bringing me down." And their gender docs are apparently fine with this.

Now we come to the crux of the matter… what would I lose? What would I lose if you should somehow found the words to convince me that my life as a woman was a mere delusion? What would I lose if by some magic formula you could make me believe and accept that my place in the world is that of a “man in a dress” and should act accordingly? Can you picture the absolute horror of realizing that you’ve lived a lie for 30 years? Can you imagine the shame inherent in knowing that my homo/transphobic father was right all along… that I would never be a woman and if I tried, I would be the ugliest woman on the face of the earth? Shunned and scorned by all who see me? A sick joke of a pervert, who deserves death for what I put them (my parents) through? That was the essence of my father’s contribution to my mental health, that is, after the beatings stopped when I finally stood up to him.

In the early days of my transition and just after my GCS, I dreamt on a few occasions that my penis had not been removed or had somehow come back. Can I describe my “female” feelings without using stereotypes? Let me try.

I was 7-years-old when I first realized I was different from my sister. We showed each other what we had, and I was confounded and horrified that we were not the same. Up until that point we were inseparable and the same. Coincidentally or not, that was the time we were effectively separated and my sister was “Betty Crocker’d” and I was “Baden Powell’d” by my Mom and Dad, respectively. Before that we used to do all the things girls did: play dressup with my Mom’s clothes; have tea parties for our stuffed animals (all female); we used to pretend we were lionesses (after watching Born Free); my favorite toy that I took to bed with me was my “Girl Bow Wow”, and I collected all kinds of beautiful things that I used to call my “pretties”. Even taken together, are these a clear indication of being a girl? No, of course not, but they do set a trend for all that came later on. However, considering I was a child, could this be considered stereotypical behavior when I had no concept of sex or gender? I think not.

At 10 I found a reference in the library (I was definitely a bookworm) that stated people like me were labelled under the medical heading (remember, it’s the ‘60’s) “Psycho-Sexual Disorders” and lumped me in with transvestites and those who practiced bestiality. Can you imagine a 10-year-old finding that out? Well, I began to act out, and puberty hit HARD and by 15 I was in reform school. Between the ages of 14 (when I finally stood up to my father) and 19 (when I left home), I only had girlfriends (no guys), wore my thick, blonde hair long (down to my ass at one point), and lived life on the fringe of high school in either drama class or music. I played no sports having had quite enough of boys’ locker rooms when my father insisted on me playing hockey (age 7–10) — I freakin’ hated it — they were revolting. All of them knew me as “super sensitive” and “girl-like” and most people thought I was gay. The only troon I've personally known did that. Fortunately, the surgeons could reattach it, although today a troon would probably sue a doctor for malpractice if they did that. He wasn't really transgender, though. He had been misdiagnosed as that by his psychiatrist. He actually was schizo. Once he got on meds, he didn't want to be a woman anymore.

You need to stop being passive waiting for him to take you out. You need to start getting proactive about shutting him down. You should be the ones at Reddit HQs doing a fireside chat lecturing them about how to protect you from crusading censors like him.

Here's what you personally can do that might help to keep your favourite subs safe from this raging lunatic (this applies to everyone's subs BTW, TERF, gamer, conservative, conspiracy theorist, any community that /u/Bardfinn hates and wants to make disappear from Reddit):

1) You don't want your name to be "TerfyMcTerfXX" on Reddit when you contact their Admins (don't make it so damn easy for them to ignore you). Adopt a neutral alias. Join a bunch of middle-of-the-road normie subs, nothing overtly political/lesbian/feminist. Get yourself some karma and good standing by posting feelgood bullshit everyone agrees with and upvotes. Revel in that dopamine rush, you're getting really popular now and making lots of fake online friends. Animal subs are good for this, join some pet subs and post pictures of your pets while praising everyone else's to quickly rank up that karma. Join some music subs and stan your favourite artists with other stans. Be patient, "justice is patient and persistent".

2) Using your account with good standing and good karma, every time you see /u/Bardfinn cornering a user in the comments with "I know what you did last summer" (he does this all the time, mutiple times per day or per week), you can now report him to Reddit Admins for cyberstalking that user. Don't report him to the mods, the chain of command is completely broken here and you need to skip that step and go straight to Reddit themselves. All the mods that /u/Bardfinn is associated with on Reddit are fellow SJWs who are into the /r/mouthfeel and will never hold him accountable for anything, no matter how egregious or in blatant violation of everything Reddit purports to stand for (I got ahold of and examined some data shit myself, and I can see it's always the same SJW mods from The League of Extraordinary Trolls he's co-modding subs with). When you contact Reddit Admins to report /u/Bardfinn for cornering and intimidating users with "I know what you did last summer", you must cite the following rule as the reason you are contacting the Admins to report him:

This moderator is making personal information about the user/mod public that was obtained through the Reddit API to intimidate and humiliate the other user/mod by blatantly violating their expectation of privacy on the site. He knows he is violating the Reddit User Agreement when he's abusing his API access to cyberstalk users with what he's able to dig up about them. He does it anyway because it's all about getting a kick out of violating people's boundaries and their innocent/naive presumption of privacy.

3) Contact this guy, who is responsible for the API, and explain what is going on with /u/Bardfinn abusing his access to the API to cyberstalk users. Explain (again) that this is a blatant violation of Section 7 of the Reddit User Agreement. Demand that Reddit ban Penny from accessing the API since he has repeatedly abused his access to cyberstalk his personal enemies. This ban will not entirely stop the cyberstalking, because as an OCD data-hoarder he has already downloaded and stuffed his house with garbage bags full of user data - and you can rest assured he's not going to delete any of it as long as it's profitable useful to him in some way - but it will make it a lot harder for him to cyberstalk people in the future or new people showing up.

4) /u/Bardfinn's bullshit excuse about how "this is public information anyway" is irrelevant because if it wasn't for his API access he couldn't do any of this. There is no way he could cyberstalk that many people if he was just looking at their history in the browser, like everyone else on Reddit does who wants get an idea of whom they are talking to. Penny is able to dig up the nitty-gritty about a specific user's interaction with the site (data that he then processes to generate his SJW Stasi blacklists for his fellow SJW mods and Stasi scandal-dossiers to intimidate specific users with) because of his API access. The API enables the cyberstalking and privacy breaches, so his API access has to end.

5) /u/Bardfinn is NOT a researcher and his data-mining is not part of a research project. He is a "retired scientist/retired academic" by his own public admission. He basically went nuts and is probably unfit to work in a professional academic environment, that's why he's agoraphobic and spending all day online feverishly profiling everyone on Reddit who are all Natsees anyway. AFAICT he has no current institutional affiliation with academia at all. What he is doing on Reddit is not a form legitimate research and is certainly not the kind of research that Reddit had in mind when they allowed actual researchers to sign up to access data through the API. If he was conducting "research" in this manner at a university, he would have already been dragged before an academic ethics board for using his cyber-loot for his personal advantage (to corner and intimidate his perceived enemies). I don't give a fuck what PhDs or patents Penny claims to have (with no evidence ever provided; someone tried to look up his alleged patent and didn't find anything), the way he is behaving on Reddit right now he is nothing but a punkass hacker gaming the API to p0wn users. (FFS Goth Dad, grow the fuck up.)

Here's an interesting thing.

Everyone thought that troons had a decreased risk of prostate cancer. Orchiectomy,, spironolactone, Lupron, well, they were all used as treatments for prostate cancer back in the day. Less testosterone, less PSA.

He's very prolific on Reddit and I could sit there documenting his brain-puke insanity all day long for everyone's amusement, but none of this is going to help you when he comes gunning for your favourite subs. None of this is going to prevent him from smearing and trying to take down /r/detrans with his delusional paranoia that these girls and boys are "neonatsees collabing with the far right."

I saw a TERF on a thread about Penny on /r/ItsAFetish the other day say something to the effect of "If he takes us down we'll just open a new sub.", and I thought to myself, damn, they don't even know what platform they're on. Bitches, if he takes you down, that's it, you can't bring back the sub. Trying to open a new sub under those circumstances is considered an "evasion ban" and will get you banned forever. /u/Bardfinn has specialized in tracking down mods who try to relaunch their subs after they were taken down. He then moves in and shuts them down all over again and gets the mods perpetually banned, just like on Twitter. (He openly admitted he wants to turn Reddit into a Twitter clone.) You need to stop being passive waiting for him to take you out. You need to start getting proactive about shutting him down. You should be the ones at Reddit HQs doing a fireside chat lecturing them about how to protect you from crusading censors like him.

Here's what you personally can do that might help to keep your favourite subs safe from this raging lunatic (this applies to everyone's subs BTW, TERF, gamer, conservative, conspiracy theorist, any community that /u/Bardfinn hates and wants to make disappear from Reddit):

1) You don't want your name to be "TerfyMcTerfXX" on Reddit when you contact their Admins (don't make it so damn easy for them to ignore you). Adopt a neutral alias. Join a bunch of middle-of-the-road normie subs, nothing overtly political/lesbian/feminist. Get yourself some karma and good standing by posting feelgood bullshit everyone agrees with and upvotes. Revel in that dopamine rush, you're getting really popular now and making lots of fake online friends. Animal subs are good for this, join some pet subs and post pictures of your pets while praising everyone else's to quickly rank up that karma. Join some music subs and stan your favourite artists with other stans. Be patient, "justice is patient and persistent".

2) Using your account with good standing and good karma, every time you see /u/Bardfinn cornering a user in the comments with "I know what you did last summer" (he does this all the time, mutiple times per day or per week), you can now report him to Reddit Admins for cyberstalking that user. Don't report him to the mods, the chain of command is completely broken here and you need to skip that step and go straight to Reddit themselves. All the mods that /u/Bardfinn is associated with on Reddit are fellow SJWs who are into the /r/mouthfeel and will never hold him accountable for anything, no matter how egregious or in blatant violation of everything Reddit purports to stand for (I got ahold of and examined some data shit myself, and I can see it's always the same SJW mods from The League of Extraordinary Trolls he's co-modding subs with). He knows he is violating the Reddit User Agreement when he's abusing his API access to cyberstalk users with what he's able to dig up about them. He does it anyway because it's all about getting a kick out of violating people's boundaries and their innocent/naive presumption of privacy.

3) Contact this guy, who is responsible for the API, and explain what is going on with /u/Bardfinn abusing his access to the API to cyberstalk users. Explain (again) that this is a blatant violation of Section 7 of the Reddit User Agreement. Demand that Reddit ban Penny from accessing the API since he has repeatedly abused his access to cyberstalk his personal enemies. This ban will not entirely stop the cyberstalking, because as an OCD data-hoarder he has already downloaded and stuffed his house with garbage bags full of user data - and you can rest assured he's not going to delete any of it as long as it's profitable useful to him in some way - but it will make it a lot harder for him to cyberstalk people in the future or new people showing up.

The API enables the cyberstalking and privacy breaches, so his API access has to end.

AFAICT he has no current institutional affiliation with academia at all. I'm not sure he really deserves a thread primarily because I think he actually wants one. I think he got a little too excited over the idea of making women angry. He's probably been jerking off to the memory of it. Eventually, that will get boring and he will want more drama to fuel his fantasy. I don't want to give it to him. If he gets his own thread, I would stay far, far away from it and I'd advise any of the ladies here who engaged with him to do the same.
