The reason one would mostly consume media they agree with is likely to not get butthurt and upset at media they disagree with. Granted, it's something we all are guilty of though one could try to justify by saying the disagreeing content is terrible and what not. Honestly, it's a very terrible idea. the absolutely worst thing you can do as a streamer is some of the shit that Alex is doing. First, you never ever want to to make your own schedule confusing and capricious, streaming lives and dies on people having a set schedule of "This is when my streamer comes on". If you are not on when you say you are going to be on, then people are going to get frustrated and uninterested.

Second, he's really trying to make his site the primary hub for people to watch and it being the only chat he interacts with, this splits the chat and drives down engagement, he might think this is ok because his idols Ian and Steven do it, but they have exponentially more viewers. and thus people in their cucked chats will still have people to talk with. Small streamers rely on chat interaction as their advantage. Null is a smaller streamer to mid sized streamer, but he uses a restream service that collects all chats on all platforms, Alex has only one chat on screen and it's on a website that logs your IP with an audience dumb enough to think this is the same as having your mailing address to a streamer that threatens to release IPs of people that annoy him.

Third, monetization. The LAST thing you should ever do is to lie about where your money goes. If you say the money is for a game or a viewer stream or anything you NEVER decide to nix that and do something else. Alex ran his subscriber page with a perk to be a subscriber only minecraft server. That perk is no longer around as he claimed he was not making enough money for it. Oddly he had enough for a minecraft server for people with larger audiences (funny how that works) to stream with. This last one is SUPER important, charitable organizations, political campaigns, companies and religious institutions have crumbled from mishandling funds. DSP and CWC have both pissed alot of people off by asking for money and not delivering on what they said they would.

Your audience is your life blood, you never want to insult them or worse, take them for granted.
