Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

Some lengthy SOS housekeeping, courtesy of her instagram stories. She's begun talking a lot about her shit, and posting some weird "inspirational" hosenose pictures with poop emojis. Really classy. She's also fixated on how much she's going to weigh after she takes an enormous shit, claiming that she weighs 86 pounds currently.

In a question series she calls "After Dark" (which she finds necessary to clarify as question she answers after dark), she finds a way to showcase news updates: She claims she is still possibly being transferred out of state, she has a picc line that she'll be riding home for that sweet, sweet salt water infusions, she's stopped breastfeeding her oldest daughter (although she hints at it maybe not being permanent, which is weird), she's back on medication (and made a poll about whether or not to make a video about why she went off them in the first place). Also, shit questions. Lots of them.

In her updates, she shares that she has a picc line (and widdle baby wants her husband). Her hose nose has been reinforced on her face beyond what I've ever seen on a munchie. She reportedly uses vomiting as a way to determine when her stomach is full, and then proceeds to spew until the nurses come save her. She also shares some drivel about her bodily functions and nightmares, along with the fact that she writes on her own board. She wishes she had fun colorful markers for it. The hospital is an art project now, I guess. Also, more shit updates.

Donate to her, guyz.

Picc show and tell.

Her totally serious Raynauds is out of control, requiring her to put hot packs on her feet. She figured this was a good opportunity to film herself putting hot packs into her hospital issue gripper socks. I spared you the video, as I am not technically inclined enough.
View attachment 953737

Shit update once again. Because everyone's clearly on the edge of their toilets.
View attachment 953738

She claims a hobo snuck into the hospital, warranting a selfie with a shit-eating grin. Highlight of her day, I'm sure.
View attachment 953739View attachment 953740

Lastly, her boobs are leaking once again. Also, she might be getting a surgical feeding toob this week. Because that's totally how this works. Has she had a gastric emptying study? I can't remember. All the munchies blend together in my head after a while.
View attachment 953743View attachment 953745

Also, something about albumin and it seems she wrote on her board again. How kind of her to respect her medical professionals. She is such a charming, polite patient.

I know I'm late but Jesus fucking Christ I have no idea how you could cope with reading, saving and uploading all that shit. I'm going to strain a muscle rolling my eyes.

Oh my god everything about this is amazing. Thank you for your service. I'm here for it if you ever decide to reactivate, although I can see how you wouldn't want to rewrite everything.

In Munchie news -- have we caught up with disablednotdefeated lately?

Some of the below has been posted before, but I can't remember exactly what, and I know I have screenshots that haven't been shared here. I don't think we've talked about Dying Jessi in a while so I'm going to recap from June 15, when she was "dying."

View attachment 954046View attachment 954042
She doesn't say anything about what new answers or treatments she has received; she doesn't even explicitly say that she is doing any better. But just seven days after her "dying" post, she's up and meeting with a lawyer, summarizing his points in an extremely cogent and lengthy post that is, to say the least, much more than one would expect from someone "fading in and out of consciousness."
View attachment 954048
We do learn that at least one person is onto them.

View attachment 954052

And evidently her medicare keeps getting cancelled? I don't know much about the practicalities of Medicare eligibility; anybody know why this would happen?

View attachment 954064

She mostly tags vague stuff like #chronicillness and #deathpositive, and doesn't tend to go into details about what she's supposedly being treated for. View attachment 954077

The big news is that she has set up a GFM, which is currently sitting at $30,156.

She's posted a bunch of dramatic stuff about her "mind and body failing," and how she's not sure she'll ever see her friends again . . . interspersed with lengthy explications on service dog training that would be far beyond the writing capabilities of someone as incapacitated as she claims to be.

July 11: desperately doctor-shopping for someone to validate her "conditions."
View attachment 954079View attachment 954080

She eventually enters whatever clinic in Kansas she decided on, and goes inpatient there. Seems to be a huge win for her, as they seem extremely willing to validate her delusions.
View attachment 954085View attachment 954086

August 29: Jessi is somehow back in California and would like you to know that body weight has absolutely no relation to malnutrition thankyouverymuch. Please note that they've actually put her on TPN!‽?? Wtfffffff

View attachment 954081View attachment 954082

She was supposed to be discharged, but her frail body could not survive without intravenous nutrition for even one day.

View attachment 954089
Totally dying, you guys.

View attachment 954090

And here's the post that prompted me to catch everyone up on Jessi. She describes her low-dose methotrexate, a common medication that's used for psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, as "chemo." This is the one thing that unfailingly gets me mad on the internet. Methotrexate in HIGH doses is toxic enough to be used as chemotherapy. Methotrexate in low doses is fucking child's play. As someone who sometimes interacts with a patient population treated with low-dose methotrexate, and who has had loved ones get ACTUAL chemo, I can tell you the two treatments have a WORLD of difference between them and I will never not call out this "chemo" bullshit from Munchies.

View attachment 954095

And then, five days ago, an extremely dramatic post about how she'll need infusions every eight weeks. Oh the horror. This is totally not something that thousands of people do without even discussing it, nope.

View attachment 954170
I had originally refrained from really posting about Jessi because I felt for her a bit -- if you go back to her earliest posts where she's tagging ptsd and anxiety, it's clear that she has some real mental health issues, and I thought she probably really bought into her own illness delusions. But scamming well meaning donors out of money so she can doctor shop around the country and claim she's doing "chemo?" Nuh-uh.

Edit: oh what the actual fuck, look at her goddamn fucking hashtags with all those "chemo hair loss" ones. Give me my fucking top hats, this is pissing me off.

"Save Jessi before it's too late" and the chemo asspat begging are reaching new levels of romantic sick girl porn. I'm amazed people donated.

What does she claim the methotrexate supposedly for, RA?

It's easy to make yourself sick on methotrexate if you're munching for new symptoms. It is generally prescribed with Vit D and Folate to mitigate the side effects, so it would be simple to just skip those.

I'm pretty sure she started mentioning her "light chemo" (somebody fucking kill me) around the same time she got her Crohn's diagnosis, so I think it's for that. Not 100% sure as she's often really vague, but as far as I know she's never claimed anything other than Crohn's that might call for an immunosuppressant.

They wouldn't have started her on methotrexate first though for crohns. She would've had to have gone through different NSAIDs and steroids first. Smells like someone was fishing

Just set up phone screenshots to back up automatically to google photos. Screenshot what you want all in one go, then open google photos on computer and copy paste into the farms. Fifteen minutes tops to dump everything where it needs to go.

RE: Jessi and her panhandling, has anyone ever requested any sort of receipts? Literally or figuratively. That's a huge amount of money to raise without any sort of end in sight. She claims she's been dying for ages, but randomly springs up and starts playing the violin or whatever. Eventually people like this get called out, it seems.

You beat me to it! I'd been collecting basically the same screenshots from her stories and was going to share them today, with the commentary that the only way I'd believe she was 86 pounds if she were 4' 10".

Nope, no GES. Her story on why has changed several times. At first she didn't want one because she'd had one 13(?) years ago, then she wanted one but the doctors wouldn't do it, then they were going to discharge her and have her do it outpatient. I actually don't get why they'd place a feeding tube without doing one first, but I don't know jack about tubes and with her who knows what the real story is anyway.
Any medical kiwis able to shed a light on what circumstances would warrant a tube without a GES? She's making it seem like they're going to send her home with this thing (or even a surgical tube, depending on the day).

Seems like she's reading along here and responding to us directly. How convenient.

In recentish books I’ve read on Crohns, they seem to agree that methotrexate is only given after trying a bunch of other drugs first. It’s usually in the same category as thalidomide, not quite efficient enough for first line.

And wouldn’t anabolic steroids be quite “good” for munchies trying to fuck themselves up? They even have the possibility of a visible side effect (lol moonface). Ah.... did I just answer my own question?

I mean if you're going for osteoporosis yeah, it wouldn't really effect anything else. They're prescribed with calcium to patients on Methotrexate because it reduces your ability to absorb calcium.
What? I've never heard of it blocking calcium; that's just also usually prescribed with it for joint disorders. Methotrexate blocks folate in the body, which is why your hair falls out. It will give anemia very quickly. They prescribe folic acid to conpensate.

I remember the headphone thing! I searched here and Reddit for it and didn't find anything, and then thought I must have dreamed it or something, so I'm glad someone else remembers it.

Edit: having spent an embarrassing amount of time searching for various permutations of "earbuds in nose," I'm wondering if we didn't both see this and just mentally file it under "munchies:"

I see the Ren stuff now that I'm looking, and it's every bit as hilarious as it sounds. Thank you for making my Monday. https://www.reddit.com/r/illnessfakers/comments/cbpg24/is_it_wrong_to_laugh/etk32qz/

Also that insta sounds like fucking gold and I think you should bring it back.
That Ren picture is like one of those meme photos where the longer you stare at it the more hilarious/disturbing/ridiculous it gets.

Thought this might be appreciated here. Just in case anyone thought the celery juice cure was a modern phenomenon. Advertised in a New Jersey newspaper in 1888 alongside Delavau's Perfectly Safe Whooping Cough Cure (sounds legit) and Dr Jayne's Specific Vermifuge for the Tapeworm – It Never Fails!

In today’s trials and tribulations of Sarah-Jean, she talks in a circle for 15 min re: her autism diagnosis and claims to have an IQ of less than 40. What.

I know literal re.tards with a higher IQ than 40. 40 is the cutoff between moderately and severely impaired by most scales.

yes that is seriously impaired
her language skills and activities of daily living skills do not match that do not match this claim to be a tard that needs a group home if your not because you might be unluckily enough to find a team of professionals willing to put you in a home

35-49 — Moderately retarded
Can learn simple life skills and employment tasks with special education. May be employed in special settings, and achieve some independence. Often socially immature. Self-awareness — having an inner image of self, realizing that one is a person separate from the others around one — may exist from here on, but is not guaranteed to exist as it depends on more than intelligence alone. The most intelligent non-human animals, such as some crows, chimpanzees, bonobos, parrots, and dolphins, are in this range. Bonobo or chimpanzee I.Q. scores are sometimes even quoted as high as 80 or 90, but those are childhood age-peer scores that correspond to adult I.Q.'s of only just over 40
-https://paulcooijmans.com/intelligence/iq_ranges.html
so umm not a smart one to claim her iq is on the high side for munchies I can think of munchies in this thread who would scored but not within this range

WTF kind of speech impediment is that? I am more used to WAIS where they score in percentiles. I would not be at all surprised if she scored pretty low percentile wise. I know a few who score overall in the "borderline range" (In one case the GAD is 14) and have much better abilities to express themselves verbally (maybe the speech impediment unconsciously biases me ). On the other hand the people I am thinking of. It is more like one specific person could never figure out how to upload to YT. I didn't watch much. I never even got to where she mentions IQ, Is she using the acronym SAD for ASD.

maybe she means her overall score is in the 40th percentile?

Her parents are fucking trash for not getting her speech therapy that had better fucking results than that.

After watching that I am thinking she means her GAD on WAIS is 40th percentile. I don't think the overall percentile would be 40th percentile but a GAD of 40th percentile would make sense. Also, my comparison to one person in particular who I later found out was in the "boarderline range" was more of a knee jerk reaction.

I’m more inclined to believe she doesn’t know what the fuck her IQ is and threw out a number that makes herself look even more speshul.
And yes it was extremely difficult to get through. And I caught the SAD thing too. She’s straight up idiot but no way in hell her IQ is that low.

That represents profound intellectual disability. According to a lot of research, adults with an IQ of around 40 will likely never have the mental capacity beyond that of an 8-year-old. For perspective, the average young adult with Downs Syndrome has an IQ around 50. With an IQ of 40, it'd be extremely difficult for her to pass the tests to get her driver's license.

If she said her IQ is around 85, I'd buy it. She's clearly dumb, but not Group Home Dumb.

I think she is just making it up. If she really did a whole battery of psychometric testing she would be given an overall percentile and then percentiles for all the subsections and besides that an overall GAD.

Not sure really....... ? I was overly harsh at first though. I was rather intrigued that she went to meet Squirmy and Grubs. Also, would like it if she named off some of the crushing things her autism caused her to say to people.

(I get what you mean now. she never did any psychometric battery. but it seems like the school system would have identified her as having issues. at least regarding needing to see an SLP. then that might have lead to other testing? who knows ?)

Want a port but mean doctor won't give you one? Find someone who has one and does their own access, obtain access set, break needle off, stick to chest with tegaderm. PICCs are decidedly harder to fake although pretty easy to obtain the proper supplies like statlocks, just because it's more difficult to conceal where it enters the skin without raising suspicion. Never tried a hickman. Couldn't figure out how to do the "straight into the chest" thing without taping it.

The only real problem is you can't actually hook them up/show them in use because they're not actually in your body. Running a feed through the NG that's just resting in your nostril is a good way to give yourself aspiration pneumonia, though, for extra munchie points!

This was really interesting! Sounds like fun to try. If you ever reactivate the project or spot more fakers, I hope you'll share with us.

I think faking a Hickman is possible, by the way. (At least, if I'm looking at the right type of Hickman device--the port?) It would take more in the way of makeup, but you can buy liquid latex or spirit gum easily enough, especially this time of year. Flesh-toned latex can help you stick on a lightweight tube without being obvious, and it'll at least hold long enough for a quick Insta snap.

Granted, going full SFX with appliques and prosthetics is probably a little out of the way even for munchies, but I'm guessing it's not the craziest thing anyone's done for the sake of attention.
