I wonder what brings these guys to this level of lack of self-awareness or consideration of others autonomy. There's only so much a previously bad relationship can explain, if they even had that.

No, it's denial. They know very well what they're saying isn't true; they just want to believe it, rather than accepting that they've made some remarkably poor decisions. "All Women Are Like That" absolves them of the difficult responsibility to be more discerning in their interactions with women; if eventually, we cannot be anything but horrid, gold-digging shrews, then they can just select for hotness and speed of panty-dropping and not worry about anything else.
What was always telling to me was how quickly, when offered the hope that it didn't have to be that way, they would snap to saying, "You're making this sound like it's my fault." It's not about finding happiness; it's about not being responsible.
And while that's an unattractive trait in anyone, it's downright disgusting in a man.

I bet none of these super masculine MGTOWs have ever tried living a life like their great grandfathers, whom they idolize to a ridculous degree for living in a time when women had less rights and they grew up on supermarkets like everybody else.

One of the mental images my mother told me about her time as a kid was how often her parents argued (they split apart) then when she'd walk down the street she'd hear all these couples arguing in their own homes.
Not exactly a 1950's paradise that the advertisements glorify

The older generations in the 1950s really genuinely wanted to respect the rules. Not today's current America on the filthy streets of Philly, SanFran, L.A., Stockton, etc. They considered a person crazy if you couldn't find work within a month.
The MGTOWs did reflect on the hardships of the past and said it was minimal compared to the Nazi rules they suffered under Feminist divorce courts. (the comments I read on Nice Guy forums) Some despised all the intense religious obligations. A few even bragged if they were born before the 20th century their wives would have bared them 12 or more kids. But the average survival rate to adulthood for pre-modern infants was less than half of all children born. One guy was aburpt to say that when John Wayne took in a Mexican maid as a second wife everybody was suspicious.
Just another thought. While the iconic image of the '50s is that divorce was rare, what about rates of separation and legal annulment? Any stats on those?

Why are these guys so obsessed with the “basic bitch” stereotype? I’m not denying that vapid and shallow women exist, but they’re far from the majority. And are we just going to pretend that vapid and shallow men don’t exist? It’s funny, if you made a similar generalization about men or stereotyped them all as violent and angry MGTOW and incels would be the first to scream “NOT ALL MEN!!!” But yet it’s totally acceptable (and outright encouraged) to talk about women as if they’re a single monolithic entity and make untrue, sweeping generalizations about them (bonus points if bullshit “science” is attached).

That crack about how "women only need to bring their reproductive organs" tells you they're not looking for a partner, a person with hopes, dreams, religious inclinations, ideas, a life...just a pair of ovaries and a uterus. So naturally, since every other feature is useless for their purposes, they going to focus on the shiniest housing for those organs they can get.
Deep down that's the type of woman they want because they are shallow af but they aren't hot or rich enough to attract one. Like all other manosphere types, nice guys, incels etc they only acknowledge the existence of high school girls, twitch thots and instagram "models".

According to TFM in a recent video, women don't want men as partners, they want men as leaders. So I guess men want women as followers instead of as partners, too.

Honestly, I don't mind him talking about things other than women, but when he starts those insults and rants, that's when I have a problem with him. At least he's not like Sandman, having a grating voice and ONLY talking about how ALL women are toxic with hot girls in the thumbnails. He makes MGTOW look like it's more about fixating on and bitching about women than male freedom. How is a man free when all he does is obsess over "those terrible females"?
