Well, it's SJWs. These people talk in doublespeak and buzzwords almost exclusively and consider any sort of criticism or difficulty to be persecution. They cannot and will not entertain the concept that their enemies can have any positive traits, not even competence. This infantilization of both themselves and their world has created a toxic sludgepool of adult babies in positions they should not be. Their media is childish, their arguments are sophomoric, and any ability or talent they may have is drowned underneath their suffocating ideology.
This, and this alone, is why Disney Star Wars has failed so hard and so quickly. If we support it, we aren't supporting it enough. If we don't, we're Nazis. These people believe that they should be the ultimate arbiters of everything, and I am so glad that people seem to be starting to catch onto this, and I hope that this stupidity will be resigned to the historical dumpster of bad ideas, like phrenology and communism.

The Empire being doomed to collapse under its own weight and Palpatine's machinations has always been a thing. A Kathleen Kennedy-stand in being the only one who can make the hard decisions necessary to save it because Palpatine is just a cackling retard is something only the awfulness of nu-Wars could've brought us.

I was thinking about that earlier bitchy comment I made about the no "Do Not Disturb" signs as part of the mandatory daily room checks at Disney hotels, the Empire actually respected locked doors in the original movie so unless there's EU handwaving that they marked those rooms for extermination or something that means Disney respects personal space less than the Empire.

This time in 2015, Disney was showing all kinds of behind the scenes/tv spots/marketing for TFA. Here we are in the future and not a peep about Rise of Skywalker. The thing is a sinking ship, the whole animal is diseased beyond repair and needs to be taken out back and shot.

I'd care more if I actually took any of this shit as canon, and I don't. I barely even acknowledged the fucking old EU for the most part canon wise, so this use of discontinuity and contempt comes easy for me. But by all means, this is such a suicidal move given that the ENTIRE PURPOSE of recycling RotJ and Sheev was BECAUSE they didn't have a good villain. Good thing that less people than there are Raelians in the world read that shit, or it might actually nuke IX harder.
Hell, people like me have Lucas actively stating he didn't like the movies, let alone this self-sabotaging stupidity in media form. Even the creator is saying no, which is basically an endorsement to reject and acknowledge this shit as fanfiction not worthy of the time or effort to watch.

Pretty much. Rule 1 for Star Wars: Movies always defeat any other form of canon. Disney in its laziness and desperation is too stupid to understand that other media is designed to support or experiment with the setting; not patch in tainted philosophies or be used as bandages to unfinished and shitty films.

So I went into a hobby shop today and saw that the sold scale models of ships. I go up to the front desk and ask if they could keep the Slave I on hold for me. They told me I shouldn’t worry about it since Star Wars stuff barely moves.

That is what they're trying to do for all of nerd culture, just turn it into shallow lifestyle brands.
It's the cultural equivalent of hipsters moving into and gentrifying a city.
For allllllllll of the politics that have cropped up in recent years, this is what the root of it all is at the end of the day, it's just hipsters being hipsters and a lack of genuine appreciation and passion for things is baked into that mindset and culture, hence shallow lifestyle brands.
I can imagine an alternate universe version of 2019 where things aren't as political, but still shallow and lame.
There's a movie that came out in 2013 that addressed that conflict called Zero Charisma about an ultra nerdy D&D player who invites a hipster to join their gaming group that doesn't take it as seriously and causes a conflict within the group, things took a quick and sharp turn into political territory but that's the root of this conflict I feel.

Disney's destruction of established Star Wars continuity along with a Mary Sue that upstages existing characters is on par with what Paul W. S. Anderson did with the Resident Evil film series.

True but Anderson still did butcher the established lore with the film adaptations and even contradicted the worldbuilding in later entries.

There are some differences though, for one the Resident Evil movies are a completely separate continuity from the games.
And two, Alice may be somewhat of a Mary Sue, but the big difference between her and a character like Rey is Alice is sexy, didn't the first movie even go as far as to show Milla Jovovich's shaved vag?
Because in 2000s culture sexy was just seen as part of what makes a "strong female character", unlike now when you have a character like Rey who is totally bland and unsexy and somehow that's supposed to be a good thing instead of boring and lame.
