Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

The fact that you are looking for papers that you don't have to scrutinize for bias is troubling.

It's better to split time between two heavily biased sources, one on each side, than spend all your time with one 'unbiased' source.
It was mostly a discussion starter to see what you guys read (those of you that do read) and then come up with left, right, and center pole from which I can more regularly source information.

I find it's helpful to look for a source that admits its bias. Then you can be sure that they aren't lying to themselves, and you can predict their blind spots.

I've talked before (on here I think) about how media manipulation can work. If you want to delve more into the subject, sfdebris' video essay on human processing of information gives some thought provoking points as well.

For fuck's sake Mark... Also TDS is at peak horrorcow level right now because of this idiotic tweet. Some idiots actually threatening and mocking the kid because he either has "tainted blood" or deserves to be put in cage. I didn't see these fuckers threaten to put Obama's girls in cages over his shit. And the whole tainted blood thing is some medieval-tier form of batshittery. I also like how most TDS fags are saying no one's mocking or threatening the kid despite posts right above and beneath them saying the exact opposite. Or some trying to justify the mockery because the kid is a stromtrooper and troopers can't use the Force. Who the fuck said that? They're fucking humans aren't they?

Twitter is even worse now since the tweet was posted and the Washington Post's comments section is just pure vitriol and malice.
The damn thing is almost at half a million likes...

How is a 3 year old a terrible person? Why is it family member's fault when concerning what a politician does? These asses might as well go back to the middle ages now and start demanding mass murders because someone might be carrying evil blood. Seriously, these crazies are just coming out of the woodwork and it pains me to think that this is the only sane place I can talk about this normally.

There's far better space operas out there anyway. Take the anime 'Legend of the Galactic Heroes' as an example.
It's basically anime Star Wars but far more well written and realistic too. Luke Skywalker doesn't even have shit on the Hero of El-Facil (Yang Wen-Li) or Reinhardo-sama too.

So much NeverTrumper and Democrat fanfiction over the last few days.

No, we will not support impeachment of the President. No, we will not nominate someone other than Trump. Yes, we will laugh while he slaughters your nominee mercilessly in the debates and general election.

At this rate, I won't be surprised then Trump might present himself as a third-party candidate. :cunningpepe:

The reason why it fails is that it has the built-up anger of the left-wing within it and it's not subtle.

It's all a matter of language.

Babylon Bee headline: "Only 12 years left until they change the timeline on global warming again"

Simple. To the point, it works, and it's subtle. It takes a commonly spread around rumor about climate change and by twisting it into a joke headline that. The stupidity is implied not told to you. It's funny because while the opinion of the person telling the joke is clear, the joke works because it leaves you off to think for your own interpretation and the payoff is implied. It's sarcastic, but it knows that the person reading the article is smart enough to see what they mean. Let's look at the lefty that commented down below.

Lefty headline: "Climate change can't be real because weather models are really complicated and also we're really stupid"

This doesn't work. It feels forceful. Like someone outright directly saying "they're stupid", you know? It's not subtle. Jokes aren't funny when you're directly saying the point of it. Of course, the joke is "ha ha conservatives are stupid, climate change denial lol". Why couldn't you twist it into a statement that a conservative would say about climate change and then exaggerate the effect of that statement by leaving the joke of "they're stupid" implied and not told? By telling the point of the joke within the context makes it seem like an angry "lul they're stupid" joke instead of a poking fun kind of joke. It feels very passive-aggressive like the left has been throughout the DT presidency and it doesn't work because you can see the aggression with them saying "OH AND ALSO WE'RE REALLY STUPID", almost like some sort of a virtue signal or whatnot. As such, the only conclusion that one must come to when analyzing this is that:

THE LEFT CAN'T MEME

The Bee's headline also works because of the number of times scientists agree that it is too late or almost too late to stop the end of the world. Every couple of years we're doomed if we don't invest in insert initiative here.

The left can't meme because they generally have limited knowledge of history outside of talking points and they lack any ability for reflection.

Many of the memes drip with insecurity too. They seem less like they're trying to be funny (they usually don't even seem to bother) and more like they're just trying to rub all the leftist viewers on the back and say "Remember that you are smart because you agree with me, and everyone who does not agree with me, I mean us, is super super dumb." They're not even mocking the other side so much as trying to reassure and validate their own.

THE LEFT CAN'T MEME

Wanna know someone else who couldn't meme had no sense of humor? Conservative Christians of the 1980s. Here's a prime example of a Fundie Takedown of your favorite 80's cartoon franchises:

To the Fundie Christian, ANY media that showed magic, fire, or an image of the Devil was evil. Even if the only people in said media who used magic or looked Demonic were the bad guys. The heroes could be fighting the bad guys, or dress in heroic colors, or eschew the use of magic (or only use "good" magic in a universe where magic is nothing more than a benign ability mechanic,) but just appearing in a show where Demonic imagery was used was enough to condemn them. I suppose the moral guardians thought "If kids see images of the Devil, they'll think he's cool and listen to that evil Heavy Metal Music that turns them into cat-sacrificing Devil Worshippers," but for most, non-exceptional kids, Devil Imagery on the villain was just shorthand for "This guy's evil and the hero has to defeat him." However, a Fundie "Educator" could point to an image still of Skeletor in front of a crowd of Fundie churchgoers and yell "See? It's the Devil! This show promotes the Devil!" And the crowd would reee in panic, believing every word the guy said, ready to hand him their money so he could carry on his crusade to fight this evil.

Likewise today's SJW leftists can stand in front of a crowd of their fellow leftists, hold up a picture of Trump, say "EVIL RACIST!" And the crowd would agree, ready to devote their money and support to ridding the world of the Bad Orange Man. And Trump isn't the only bugaboo the Left Fears. Their own ignorance, insecurity, and the knowledge that most of them would be helpless if stripped of the trappings of civilization weighs heavily upon the average Leftist. They need to think they're the smartest people in the room - the only adults hopelessly wrangling a bunch of tard children who keep voting for their own destruction. So many of their memes will feature a professed love of pop science and will be written in a voice that sounds like a kindergarten teacher talking down to the runty, held-back kid who eats paste. Hence, not funny.

Fundies are the reason why the 90s was such a cultural revolution that created the bastion for politically incorrect culture becoming the new norm.

Maybe the pendulum is ready to swing back to religious zealotry. I just doubt it will be the Christians doing it next time.

I could seriously keep posting examples like these dating all the way back to the 1900s for hours. People really don't understand just how long this Climate Panic thing has been going on. There's a reason that I pay absolutely no attention to it anymore.

Heck, try it out for yourself: Go to Newspapers.com and search for things like "Global Cooling" and "Climate Change" and see just how far back this goes into the archives. It's actually a little frightening to watch these headlines dial back for way, way longer than you'd expect them to.

Ever since I discovered that there's someone at 538 even dumber than Nate Silver I've been fascinated with this Lee Drutman character.

Let's check in and see if he's finally figured out that Congressional Republicans support Trump because the base demands they do and not the other way around.
Nope.
