He is technically correct since he isn't telling people to go to a therapist to try and change their orientation. He is saying to just go fuck someone you aren't attracted to out of a moral duty, if you aren't able to enjoy it you're transphobic, and it isn't clear what the path forward is from there. It's like winston's frigid wife in 1984, calling sex "our duty to the party".

the only people dumb enough to take rhys's advice are young naive women and closeted gays. Both of those groups are already pressured enough about putting out.

I still want to know more about this "roommate" of his. But, I also don't want to out someone who may just be a roommate and nothing more. But, dang, I'd really like to know if this guy is a victim or an accomplice in the Rhys shit show.

Wait, how can Rhys be pan and lesbian? Does he just choose to be morally pansexual on some days and other days he likes to mix it up and choose immoral lesbianism for fun?

Scott Myers -- I tip my hat to you. Although, it's kind of sad that you only are starting to care now that his rhetoric is affecting gay men, too. Didn't care too much when it was just women who were affected.

I see a prolonged period of paid sick leave in mckinnon's future. That's typically how public institutions deal with difficult but protected individuals.

One suspicion I have about mckinnon, is that he's not nearly as confrontational in real life as he is online. In my experience when people are starting out on careers in the academia or the public sector, there's a kind of reverse Darwinism, anyone that's difficult or doesn't get on with people doesn't advance. Even if they're a member of a protected class.

There are some videos of mckinnon trying to teach on Youtube, I get the impression he's actually pretty weak in a way that you'd expect any guy that literally has his balls cut off to be. He's gobbing off on twitter but I'm willing to be in real life he's a lot quieter.

@OttoWest felt that the guy didn't deserve to be doxxed because he has no active role in Rhys's circus. But he's more than a roommate: Rhys says that he lives with "a platonic partner." He has posted pictures "taken with my parner's phone," etc. Rhys implied that he and his partner purchased the house together, but Rhys chose not to be on the deed because he (Rhys) did not want his address to be a public record.

I am very curious about this guy and how he became involved with Rhys, and what his real role in Rhys's life is. From the property records, the dude's name is Dan ("Danny") Shawn Daugherty and he works for a paint company. His Facebook says that he was hired at the paint company in April 2014...Rhys arrived in Charleston just a few months later. Daugherty bought the house in the summer of 2015.

I've only put a small amount of effort in so far, but I can't find anything else about the dude. I strongly suspect that if you asked him about his relationship with Rhys, he would not in turn describe Rhys as his "partner."

It’s funny when those words cease to mean anything, isn’t it Rhys? It’s almost as if using them as threats to silence others has no power outside the wokesphere. Strange how that works.

As to the housemate, there just nothing interesting there that can be scraped from a search. A never-married bachelor in his late 40s. Zero-to-no social media presence.

ETA Ah @Potatis Salad ninja’d me. Danny is originally from Maryland and relocated to Charleston in 2014. My guess is he and Rhys met online prior to the move— (hookup app?) He has a brother in Delaware and one in California. The California brother is gay; I’m sure he’d love to hear Rhys’s take on homosex being transphobic.
