Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

I have said it a few times, but I am always blown away by the things some of they come up with just by knowing how certain things can fuck up your insides. I read an article a while back where someone got their vet to prescribe potassium bromide in a dose large enough for a 200+lb mastiff, because it's a first line drug for canine epilepsy. They probably got the dog's seizures diagnosed just by describing an alleged seizure to the vet, no proof it happened necessary. Then they used the drug to fuck up their own kidneys. (I think, I'm having trouble finding the article now, might have been liver damage?)

If I were so inclined I could currently be taking larger-than-human doses of synthroid, a JAK inhibitor (apoquel), prednisone, tramadol, rimadyl, and acepromazine, all by virtue of having a big stupid dog who is both allergic to and afraid of everything. My doctor would have no idea I had gotten my hands on any of these drugs because my doctor does not even know I have a dog.

I'm unsure whether or not veterinary medicine has controls in place to avoid prescribing these things, but apparently the first-line medication for epilepsy in dogs is phenobarbitol and the first-line medication for storm anxiety in dogs is alprazolam.

Maybe all these service dogs are doin' their owners a service.

I know there are controlled substance logs kept in the pharmacy to make sure no one's skimming ketamine and valium from the feline surgical supply, but I'm not sure what, if anything, exists beyond that.

She is a world class complainer for sure. I wonder if she was originally in a hospital at JBLM or Tacoma? Sound like she got sent to Seattle, that's about an hour away. U of W doesn't have the best reviews and is a teaching hospital, maybe they sent her whiny ass there so the students could practice on her.

Also, liver failure and malnutrition can cause albumin drop. Ask Google while you're in it finding out how many stars your hospital has.
She mentioned that the uw was where they wanted to send her for the emptying test back when she thought they weren't going to end up sending her which is about an hour from JBLM. This is indeed probably where she is as she was probably in one of the tacoma hospitals before she was transfered. Which makes me laugh since she was convinced it was 2 hours away which would put her somewhere close to Canada at that point.
Tons of things can cause low albumin including kidney or liver damage from supplements, you know those not meds she's been using for years without a direct doctor's supervision. Here's a list of the possible supplements that can cause significant damage to kidney and livers.
And although it's easy to believe that through not eating plus supplement use she was able to get her albumin lowered, not to mention the days without food in the hospital mixed with a Continuous iv (more risk factors). She doesn't show much for the signs of low albumin which includes alot of edema, yellowing of skin, aceties but if it's only slightly and acutely lowered (such as a few days with no food and lots of iv fluids) there could be no symptoms and it's easily resolved by eating protein (or getting it in the tube feed like she is). But also another risk factor of chronically low albumin (which seems to be what she is trying to hint for) is lupus. Wonder where she got that from! The problem is she HAS used Google and probably knew all about it before she even asked I'm sure but needs to check on how to best use it to her advantage for lack of a better phrase. She's fishing.

Pretty much nothing. It is mostly for the staff of the hospital, to make sure no one is stealing like you said.

We did once have a pet at my clinic who we suspected the owner was lying about pain in order to get opioids from us. The dog was on Buprenorphine ("it was all that worked") and owner would come in alarmingly often for refills for a 20lb mutt. All we could do was switch it to Dasuquin, which is basically a diet supplement that is meant to help joint pain. After the second time refilling that, we didn't see them again.

Just a quick Kayleigh/Ophelia update. She and her family are moving, most likely bc all her local hospitals have caught on to her nonsense and her worsening eyesight is definitely from her chronic regional knee pain and not just getting older.

Bonus tweet, posted this in the FA thread too

I think she was at Weenie Hut General, I saw it on tv once.

so he believes it's all just one or two liars spreading lies about her or what ? he is repudiated to be a simpleton. so maybe he just does not think about it. I hope he is with someone new. he is too young not to be.

At the risk of beating a dead horse here, since this was one of my favorite cows... Nobody gives Judd enough credit lol, there were quite a few videos where it was very obvious he was not having any of Jaq's BS, or trolling the shit out of her (though she feigned not understanding, cause 'tism) and you could tell it bothered her too. It's true he's the Southern Christian Boi, but he's definitely not as dumb as people like to frame him to be. I think its hard for someone like him to break faith with his families belief systems to get what he wanted.

He was stuck with Jaq, now he's not. I mean he was eyeing this new chick in July lol, I'm happy for him.
I remain slightly apprehensive though. Do not forget that Jaq was a beautiful black belt TKD Instructor before all this nonsense. I hope this chick is different but you just can't tell.
Seems unlikely though, I'm still happy for him though.

are ppl keeping their ears to the ground about the goings-on with Judd Beckwith? I am probably in the minority in that I google ppl I meet. even though it is all old news ppl get an eyeful when they google him. surely he googles himself? He needs to find a ghostwriter and write a tell-all about being the man behind the munchie. I think ppl would read that if he admitted she did this shit to herself and explain what he witnessed it retrospect.

found this. probably not informative or anything that is not already known https://www.mymanatee.org/published/April 25, 2017 - Regular Meeting on Tuesday, April 25, 2017/9FADEB6B-1866-4191-8E33-6836D9207E31.pdf

what is a LE DEPUTY-TRU ?????

If you're that interested in what's going on with Judd, several pages back we discussed what was going on with his love life. I was one of the people who did an update post, so you can easily find it through my post history (I think? I could be tard). Honestly, I think it's time to leave Judd alone. We updated where he is in life, and it's clear he's moved on and is with a seemingly normal woman. Unless she's a Jaq skinwalker, I can go the rest of my days without ever talking about him again. He got duped by the love of his life. Her dying was probably the best thing that could've happened to him.

I know a guy who used to get his large dog prescribed Valium for it's "anxiety" then take it himself. I also used to work out with someone who dipped into his enormous dog's surgery Tramadol when he hurt himself and doctor ordered OTC meds weren't helping worth a shit. My own dog was prescribed Trazadone, and for reasons I'm not smart enough to know (possibly speed of metabolizing the med?) her dose was much higher than what would be given to a human. There's plenty of stories out there of vets getting busted stealing Ketamine. With the right amount of knowledge and Google, they can figure out exactly which drugs they need and get what they want. Dogs can't call bullshit, so it's purely the munchies word.

Dogs actually metabolize at much different (faster) rates than humans so many human meds like trazadone or Clonidine will be given at larger doses for dogs even big ones that are still half our sizes. (I only know this bc I low key accused our vet of putting our dog at risk of OD bc I had personally taken both in the past and of course I knew proper dosing smh- oops that was slightly embarrassing.)

And so then it became a thing where junkies/addicts are abusing and injuring their own pets in order for them to be prescribed tramadol.

Luckily (or not, since it had to be common enough for this to happen) vets are now trained in school on what to look out for. Not only with regards to the animal but the owner, too. Obviously they can't often prove anything, but they're taught that if they suspect anything sinister about an owner and a pets injuries they have to take any non medicinal route possible.

Speaking of literature on the subject Eminem basically accused his mom of having Munchausen syndrome by proxy, but this has never been fleshed out at all.

Also, I viewed the photo of Judd and his new companion after someone directed me to it. What is known about her?

Can Jan be goaded into covering the subject?

Related to people speculating if Jud's new girl might become a munchie. I got the impression that Jan got Jaq into munching. It is Judd and Paul that were long-time friends and went to HS together. Jaq and Jan met through their spouses. Jan stated she originally disliked Jaq. (I know many reading this know all of this.)

I think Jan has a desire to really commit to munching I just think she lacks the cognitive abilities to do it well. I know it is ironic in light of what happened but Jaq had a good ability to successfully munch.

There are also things about Jan's story that make you wonder if there is more there. Like she has mentioned numerous time she was denied access to a doctor as a minor and basically told to pray or that God would fix it. Then, on the other hand, she has claimed that her mom is a medical doctor (specifically a psychiatrist) those two things are very incongruent. (But being denied access to medical care could definitely fuck a person up.) I think Jan was recording all her conversations with Jaq both on video and audio. I had mentioned this before bc she was basically using a recording of Jaq showing her the new theme song for her show and Jan tried to use a video of a video as her intro. I think she was ready to blackmail Jaq if necessary.

(Clearly, her claim about mom being a psychiatrist was a blatant lie and speaks to Jan's stupidity, but it also seems like she is expressing she wishes her parents had health literacy. or maybe just a totally random lie. )

this chick's a trip https://twitter.com/emilywright_23?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author if you look into her. she is not a munchie in the same sense as most of those discussed here. her service dog is bull shit and she has lied about having diabetes and claimed it was diabetes alert dog (nothing supports the efficacy of hypoglycemia alert dogs. there is a bit of literature on the subject but there is nothing really favourable about them). But the big thing with her is she faked getting sent hate mail and went to the press about it. saying she was getting hate mail about her anti-bullying initiatives. the police wound up charging her and stating she did it herself. all we know is the charges were dropped. that happens all the damn time in Canada and I suspect she did diversion.

she was terminated with cause. and she was a member of a very good union so I would say they had her dead to rights. she magically somehow now works for the Catholic school board. Which is odd bc you usually need to present pretty clear proof that you are catholic to qualify? So she went to great lengths to magically become catholic. https://www.iheartradio.ca/newstalk...y-writing-bullying-notes-to-herself-1.2714739

If you look into her she has the most OTT claims. Randomly raped like 2 or 3 times. All OTT and published in mainstream media https://torontolife.com/city/gone-girl-emily-wright/

she also randomly forces the city to take ppl to bylaw court over her rat dog. people in Canada are confused when they see a rat dog in a little lilac vest.

This sounds like a nightmare, to be honest. If someone with meth mouth comes in mumbling about Dilaudid or Xanax then it's fairly easy to know what's up, but if instead they had a dog that was in obvious, visible pain then I'd probably want to rx Tramadol even if I were worried about diversion.

I'm honestly glad I don't work with animals.

it must be regulated somehow to prevent employees and vets themselves from diverting meds. in Canada, I don't think they really give narcotics to dogs. they give them some vet grade anti-inflammatory. I don't know if it is worse in Canada but they are just insane about not prescribing narcotics. analgesia after a cesarian is now naproxen and Tylenol. I find it quite bizarre. dentists generally tell you to just purchase Tylenol with 8mg of codeine (this is available without an Rx.) In the UK certain conditions seem to always be treated with a narcotic. peripheral neuropathy is the main one that comes to mind. I asked a physician why this is and he said bc the UK has never had an opioid epidemic.

The penalties seem really harsh for anything drug-related in the US. (in specific areas) I read about people going to jail for cannabis possession. Apparently no one had been charged with possession in Canada for like 20 years prior to legalization, and no way in hell did anyone go to jail for possession.

When did POTS become a thing? I was very active in the gastroparesis groups 15-18 years ago and never remember hearing about. Now it seems like everyone in the gastroparesis FB groups claims it as a comorbid diagnosis.

I've seen a ton of people freak out and go to the ER because their heart rate shoots up and skips beats to the point they throw up or pass out, it's not uncommon. Usually a result of a panic attack, dehydration, anemia etc but some people are just prone to it, if there's no obvious cause the doc might call it POTS after it happens a few times.

For "treatment" the ER doctor might stick a heart monitor on them for a little while and maybe give a small dose of Ativan if it doesn't calm down, then tell you to stand up slower, drink some Gatorade and sit down if you think you're gonna faint. That's literally it. Here they don't often use the term POTS with patients because it's a scary sounding medical thing and they don't want to freak patients out with what essentially is a big nothingburger. No surprise it's popular with munchies because symptoms are easy to induce/fake/exaggerate, it can vary a ton in severity, it's often partly psychosomatic, and there's no standard treatment or "cure".

In Canada it totally depends on the doctor. Most are incredibly stingy with opiates and minor surgeries usually only warrant ibuprofen or Tylenol with codeine, but there are a few with very loose prescription pads who will give a couple hundred oxys or benzos for "fibromyalgia" and "general anxiety" diagnosed in one visit, naturally their names get passed around and it's very difficult to get into their practices, but they exist. Some doctors privately believe that it's better to keep junkies happy by rationing out some Dilaudid or whatever than have them start popping bootleg shit made from fentanyl and Tylenol. Some just don't have time to argue and will write a script for like 1 week so the drug seeker will fuck off but that is increasingly rare.

Generally, people in legitimate need are referred to pain management clinics though where the doctors are hard to bullshit and they tend to use drugs with lower potential for abuse (buprenorphine and methadone usually).

Drug possession penalties here are nothing compared to the US, they rarely arrest anyone besides major traffickers or people who have drugs on them while committing another crime. Officially it's a crime to get controlled drugs from multiple unknowing doctors but PHIPA makes this such a ballache to file a charge that I've literally never seen it happen.

My one boy gets ear infections so bad he might need a total ear canal ablation, so the vet sends me home with PRN tramadol all the time. Never had a problem until I had to board them for a week. I left the kennel with the whole new two-month supply of 25 tablets and they "lost it". Gee, thanks. I should have fucking known better...

In other news, Ren posted this on her GFM, which the IFers have dubbed "chronic recurrent normoglycemia".

She also tried and failed to get Hanger clinic to take her seriously:

I never thought I'd say this but I love this dope. She's like SJ. She thinks she can just claim any bullshit and doctors will believe her.

“Blood sugar problems”, wow, better call the euthanasia clinic!
With the GFM stuff, it makes me wonder if she’s more munchy or malingery.

And I might be getting iffy cows mixed up, but wasn’t Ren recently claiming to be super mega bedbound? I recall screeching about a Kate Farms delivery that she couldn’t answer the door for.

Many drug seekers are in opiate WD and just looking for relief. Too bad buprenorphine and methadone are locked down tighter than God's asshole by the federal government. So hydromorphone and shuffle them off so you can free up a bed.

That's one of the reasons why the opioid crisis is so bad down here.

Nope, that wasn't her. Ren is my cow of choice. She would love to "need" Kate Farms, but doesn't and is able to eat fine.
