I've actually seen some artist types lament the downfall of Tumblr for that reason. When Tumblr had the porn ban take place the only positive reputation Tumblr had was for it's tagging system that made art and whatnot easy to find. Twitter has absolutely nothing like that, just a character limit and hashtags while sharing Tumblr's notoriously awful community.
Hell DeviantArt was better than Twitter too for sharing art, with higher resolution images and groups that could feature your image.
An unwritten rule among artists, content creators, and whatnot is that you don't attack or antagonize your audience, especially when it's over something like "why am I not e famous".
