I'd be cool with Las Venturas since Vegas hasn't had an HD recreation yet (Watch Dogs 2 already covered San Francisco, so San Fierro HD might be a little redundant), but I'd be ecstatic to see Vice City return with the Florida Everglades and the Florida Keys as the countryside. As long as the game has some kick ass 80s music, I'm fine with the modern era, although going back to the 80s would be pretty cool.

Micro transactions are the bane of my existence and I will never take part in them. I loathe how Rockstar/Taketwo are turning GTA into The Sims with these lame ass online releases. No offense if you have fun with some of that stuff but I've always loved GTA for a combination of the story, single player, setting and satire. Online and micro transactions was never one of them.

I think a lot of younger players are way more into online and don't care about the single player/story at all.

The only localle from GTA history that hasn't been revisited is London 1961 & 1969. I'm hoping that's the next move, Vice City in the 80's again is retarded. I faintly remember rumors of multiple cities some time ago, so we might all get something to be happy about.

It's a damn shame that they scrapped single player DLC & ruined GTA online by turning it into a chaotic delivery boy simulator.

We can only hope they don't make the same mistakes in the future, single player or online related.

I don't even care if they support Online out the wazoo, I just want them to pay attention to the campaigns as well.

Even if it's just one expansion or smaller DLCs like Undead Nightmare, that would be better than Rockstar's current neglect.

I wonder what GTAV's story DLC would have been about?

I don't remember exactly, but they mentioned after GTA4 that they won't make a game in Liberty City again.

I hope we get to see Las Venturas and San Fierro in a real big expanded map.
I believe you're talking about this from the Episodes of Liberty City manual.

I would hope they're done with Liberty City. It was done to death at least four times.

However, the cut Carraways concept would prove to be a big leap for the next generation. Vice City in the HD era would be nice.

Had R* stuck with their original plans for story DLC for V, or hell, even waited for the next gen systems to take advantage, that would've had so much potential.

I still see potential in Liberty City as a setting once technology reaches a certain point where you could do all of Liberty state and have the graphics be photorealistic or near photorealistic.

But not next time, Vice City is really what I want to see and honestly I would like it to be present day instead of the 80s again, but either way would be cool.

There would have been a campaign for each character:
-Trevor (Agent DLC) would have continued on doing missions for the government (this got recycled into The Doomsday Heist, people on GTA Forums found references to shit in the source code like Clifford and the jetpack years ago), continuing the story from the main game
-Franklin (Alien DLC) would have fought off an alien invasion (the ones from Michael's drug trips; that saucer from Mount Chiliad are remnants of this) in a what-if scenario with an altered map
-Michael (Zombie DLC) and his family would have fought in a zombie apocalypse a la The Walking Dead (this would have been next-gen only because the more powerful hardware would have allowed them to render more of the motherfuckers than previously allowable) in a what-if scenario with an altered map
-The casino was a single player DLC heist (they found the casino references too) as part of the Agent DLC
-That mystery mural? Was alluding to the DLCs (zombie egg, ufo, jetpack)

I have all these links because I was interested in the subject and looked into it at one point, even posting it in chat.

So, the SP got dicked over by Online even more than I thought. Did Rockstar develop a sense of contempt towards SP fans?

And that is why saints row is better, you don't get crap like this
at least Rockstar won't do that to Red Dead Redemption 2 right?

only if the sp fans did not submit to their will and buy lots of shark cards like nice little sheep

Wow, I had no idea the DLC was that far along, I am just stunned that they would cancel that, that just sucks shit, what the ever loving fuck, Rockstar?

At least these were "what if" scenarios and not actual continuations of the story, but I loved the characters of Franklin, Michael and Trevor and would have relished the chance to play new content with them.

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed off now.

I don't think it's Rockstar who has this contempt, but rather Take-Two.

Dan Houser said in an interview that he didn't want to include Shark Cards in GTA Online and does not like the trend of microtransactions, but he was overruled by higher-ups at Take-Two.

I feel you on that.

I don't think it's Rockstar's fault specifically, but rather Take-Two is the one to blame. They've got authority over Rockstar and that probably goes a long way in the over-emphasis of multiplayer in GTA V at the expense of single-player.

Who knows when it comes to cannibalizing planned DLC for Red Dead Online, but they already confirmed that single player DLC isn't happening for RDR2. Try as some people might to justify it by saying the game "doesn't need" DLC, it's hard to shake the feeling that multiplayer is now Rockstar's favorite child, and that depresses me as a single player fan.

Why doesn't Rockstar pull a Bungie and split off from Take Two and get into self publishing?

I'd love to see that, but at the same time, it's very likely that the Houser Brothers and the rest of the crew at Rockstar is probably staying with Take-Two so they can still get the AAA budgets needed to make the kind of open world games that they're best known for.

The difference is that it's Bungie who asked Activision if they could add microtransactions instead of actual content for each expansion.

They got rid of all that cool stuff just to focus on Online? I tried Online earlier this year and it was shit.

Someone from rockstar (one of the houser brothers iirc) said it was cancelled because of rdr2

i would imagine online is pretty low maintenance compared to a full on single player dlc
