Am I the only one cringing that she's just dumping her stomach acid into the trashcan? There are drain bags that are usually given to people who need to drain and vent from their g tubes, there's also a toilet or she can get the commode she loves so well moved closer so she can get it dumped from there. It doesn't look like she's getting much out so it could be worse but usually there's a better process then a trash dump. Yuck.

Thank you! I was having trouble figuring out what was what in that photo. Knowing that stomach fluid in going into a trashcan helped my brain interpret it better. Frankly, I am cringing over the whole photo, but yes, her draining into a regular trash basket seems like a bad idea. Doesn't stomach acid burn through plastic? Maybe that is an internet myth, but it's gross either way. And rude! Someone has to clean that up!

I took a walk down the street in the city I live in and the passed one of the local hobo camps. I saw three different dogs wandering around with service dog vests.

I've seen obviously homeless, dirty looking people with dogs with service vests in poor areas of cities. Some of them are aggressive too! They use the dog as a thing to get indignant at people about.

I think they are allowed to withhold info if the person is sufficently neurotic enough but in the US and probably other countries you have a right to your healthcare information so that would be tricky and probably considered ethically dubious.

Yes, it does burn through. It would take a couple of days depending on various things but even that aside...stomach acid fucking reeks! Even more so than vomit and even more again if it contains bile, particularly if it’s left there and even if it’s in a vomit bag in the trash. It’s one of those distinctive smells that fills a room after a short while. Most people are told to do their venting into a toilet or they use a medical grade bag to vent into. Vent bags are commonly just urinary catheter bags as they’re built to contain unsanitary fluid plus mic-key vent tubes extensions connect easily to them. If she’s not doing it at her own initiative and her hospital told her to vent into the trash then I’m presuming it’s because they don’t know to use a catheter bag and that they’re dumb as shit, which I guess we already know since they put a button straight into a newly created stoma (plus put a tube in her so quickly to begin with). If she really does have EDS and it affects her skin, she’s at an even higher risk of having a terrible time with granulation tissue as her flesh could try to heal over the top of her mic-key since the stoma tract isn’t established and all healed up yet. Gives her something else to complain about so hey, maybe she’ll be happy about having something else to complain about.

I’m late but did SJ mean she had 8-10 emergency services staff waiting for her at the airport just for a broken line? What the fuck, that’s both hilarious and sad if it’s true. What did the extra 9 people who arrived do?

Second photo she is obviously chubbier than she used to be from the weight she has gained through her child births as well as a lessened metabolism from having kids. Now don't take this to me saying she is fat, as she isn't but you can see her metabolism used to be very high and she had no issue staying small.
Back then you can still not see collarbone so she was nowhere near underweight but there's more definition to her neck, her legs are on the smaller side, and her facial features are much more defined when compared to the recent photo showing she had less fat on her face. Then we look at the recent picture where she's claiming to be dying from not eating. Her neck is very supple, very little definition. Her face is slightly chubby around the cheekbones and she has a glow about her and you can't see her legs or midsection well because of the gown, but from the baby on her hip you can tell it's not quite back to the before picture either. I think her weight loss if any has been from breastfeeding two children after child birth. She was eating enough before to keep up tard cum production so she wasn't starving or malnourished. Plus, she is no where near underweight in these photos. Her claims of being 93 lbs??? Probably the most ridiculous. Unless she happens to only be 5ft tall.

All she's missing in that 2nd pic is a cigarette and a beer to achieve perfect white trash aesthetic. Also damn girl, fix your socks! No wonder she's so cranky.

Fuck me, I do think she’s probably lying out her ass about that shit her kids are experiencing, or at least being completely OTT, but at the same time it worries me too that she’ll go after them once her doctors have had it with her generalised whining about feeling terrible while in hospital. I think it’s a reasonable take on what could be happening with her, postpartum depression can be brutal. Her Instagram account was your typical pretty girl takes pretty selfies who may or may not insert and inspirational quotes into the caption then suddenly clicks over to something like “I’ve just had my second kid and oh yeah I’ve got a chronic illness”. From there it just keeps rolling into the OTT going ons we have now. And yeah, hormones fucking suck but they don’t go and make people suddenly go all out and push for a surgically implanted feeding tube...but they could have been the kicker. Would be interesting to know how her psych evaluations went if she’s had any, it’s unfortunate they’re not usually spoken about on these so called awareness accounts despite being completely normal in at least a few parts of the world.

A lot of new moms are hesitant to get therapy for postpartum depression because they fear their child will be taken away, especially if they admit to wanting to toss the baby out the window ( as bad as that sounds, this is usually a harmless thought brought on by sleep deprivation and stress). I agree that the munching is not normal, and she could have had this side to her all along but didn't broadcast it on IG.

They're often rude, ignorant, and incapacitate their children far more than the illness itself would. There was an Australian POTS mom that suddenly dropped off the face of the Earth...but she would post *for* her daughter. Pictures, text, everything. There was one image of her daughter in that Facebook group where she was sitting in her wheelchair, looking sad, with an exposed adult diaper. That daughter was 22. What 22 year old wants people to see THAT?! Last I heard from her, she had convinced her adult daughter to sign over the Australian equivalent of power of attorney. Not a durable medical power of attorney...full ability to make decisions for her adult daughter while still concious. Her reasoning? Her daughter got "tired" at appointments and would forget things. I don't know who allowed that power of attorney paper to be signed, but they should be jailed, becasue there's no reason why any mom of an adult child should rip away the adults decision making abilities unless they are near or totally incapacitated.

And it sounds like her friends CF could have been her first trigger to be so OTT and dramatic. Also, way back when SOS lived with her grandma, she would constantly whine that her grandma and family didn't believe she was sick or had anything wrong and that she was just attention seeking, wouldn't take her to appointments, pay for doctors, etc. Now she's saying dear old grandma died from EDS complications which just sounds like a new sob story to add to her narrative since grandma can't tear it down. I mean if a grandma had something wrong with them I figure they would be more understanding not less (atleast that's been my experience).

And it seems that if she heads out of the hospital soon enough she can ramp up her mbp by taking L to all her appointments and tests to further add to her sick family narrative. I'll be semi excited to be out of this terribly written chapter but I'm not looking forward to Ls story unfolding.

I know for a fact that POTS and chiari malformation (they seem to go together a lot) are conditions that are very treatable and usually cause tolerable symptoms that are manageable. There may be extreme cases, but no one was in wheelchairs and Neck braces until the awareness movements started. If you read medical studies and websites that offer facts, you can get appropriate treatment armed with that info, but if you go to the support forums created by people who have it (or have kids that have it) , you will think you are dying. People at the Chiari Support Group forums share names of doctors and chiropractors who specialize in Chiari (its like the Lyme industry). They recommend all the special equipment and offer advice for getting insurance to cover mobility devices. Also lots of photos of those "zipper" surgeries. Many of the members found out they had Chiari-1 later in life when they got mris for another issue. Yes, it can cause symptoms and maybe CFS blockage, and I bet it is disconcerting to know that your brain is not entirely in your skull, but I feel like there are way too many chiari surgeries for the milder forms. Correcting a syrinx is not so bad but that decompression surgery is horrifying! Sorry to go on, but munchies really fascinate me, especially the social component we see here.

Ah, my bad for not clarifying. I was referring to her inpatient psych evaluation during her current admission. They’re a normal thing to have in some places when someone is is dealing with an illness of any kind, are in for over a week, have issues eating, etc. A lot of munchies freak out when they first get one thinking that the doctor has ruled them as a psych case without realising that it’s a fairly routine part of a care plan for someone like SOS. I’ve probably wrongly assumed that these evaluations happen in most developed nations, honestly. I can understand not wanting to see a therapist for CPS reasons, absolutely.

You ain’t fucking wrong. Some of those POTS parents put a lot of these kids to shame. Wheelchairs aren’t prescribed for POTS in Australia that I know of so the mother in your example sounds like a downright cunt of a woman. Nothing is to say she couldn’t just go buy the wheelchair elsewhere, of course, it just makes it stink all the more fishy and exploitative though. How do you even manage signing over power of attorney of a 22 year old in Australia for POTS, of all things? The Chiari trend is something I’ve been following loosely for personal reasons, and the uptick in surgeries the last 3-5 years is horrifying. No one really knows how common Chiari actually is bc it’s so often found incidentally while testing for other issues. It used to considered something you’re born with and now some docs are saying it can be acquired ie from head trauma (don’t know enough to speak on accuracy of that). The support groups are just as bad if not worse than chronic Lyme- the money that is being shelled out to see a couple doctors in the United States is mindblowing.
