There are definitely troon-preferences going around nowadays. It is deeply embedded in any sort of bathroom or public shower argument. If you are biologically male, but "identify" as female and would be more comfortable using the women's restroom/showers then you should be allowed to use it. We would not want to make the poor, innocent girl born into a man's body feel uncomfortable by being forced to use the men's room, would we? But if a woman were to complain about having a man in the same restroom/shower as her, suddenly she's a bigot. She clearly is privileged over this poor man transgirl and is oppressing her only out of sheer cruelty.
The same goes for prisons, and women's shelters as some have pointed out. The bathroom debacles from a few years ago are what peak transed me because it made it so clear that trannies were being prioritized over anyone else. The feelings of men in dresses are what matters, and no one else's.

I haven't caught up with the whole thread yet (give me a month and I may be up to date), and while autogynephilia and fetishism are brought up frequently, at least as far as I've read, I need to ask: is there a correlation between all this hormone and surgery fuckery and Munchausen? At least for the ones that don't do it out of a fetish or legit illness?

They may not intend to receive exactly pity and commiseration, unless they call for a woe-is-me pity party, but they still fuck up their bodies for attention in the form of validation and encouragement. Is that enough to get in the Munchie area?

To be honest, I don't understand what drives adult transitioners very well. Fetishes and feeling like an inadequate member of your birth sex are things I get, but a lot of people have those things and don't get drastic and irreversible surgery. I wouldn't be surprised if the lifelong patient thing played a role for at least some of them; it's almost like a chronic illness that you can opt into.

I doubt spoonies would let troons who weren't claiming to have any other illnesses into their communities because comparing a hormone regimen you chose to go on to things like hypothyroidism and diabetes has got to be offensive even to illness fakers, but the overall effects of being a spoonie and being a troon aren't too different: you have a condition that doesn't have a cure or an ending, you have good days and bad days that come at random, and anyone who makes you feel insecure about your condition (even by accident) or asks you to power through something on a bad day is an awful person who deserves to be villainized. The built in excuse that gets you out of anything you don't want to do and all the people who'll tell you that your mere existence is so difficult and brave probably calls to a similar sort of person.

On a related note, parents deciding their prepubescent kid is trans almost always comes across as very similar to Munchausen's by proxy to me.

It's all good and fine to see somebody in distress and wanting to help them, even if it's through a video recording. I can even forgive the weird subject matter--a woman in that situation would be pretty pitiable, so it's not a far cry to believe you'd help her. But to sit there and imagine the scenario play out entirely in your fantasy world is just plain bizarre. There's a level of disconnect when you're watching a video on something, and you mentally accept your role as a mere spectator. Any imagining you do to insert yourself into the scenarios you witness is just wish fulfillment of some kind, so wanting to wipe a woman's dirty nappies up is a really creepy wish to want fulfilled.

But that level of social unawareness is stunning. It's incredible that he not only believes this is something that's acceptable to both do and mention, but he actually believes this is something worth bragging over. That's simply astounding.
