I've been watching Nick since a little before WW and have seen the huge improvement in quality from the early LOLsuit days- good work to anyone who helped add some of the polish and preparation that we've seen in the last 6-12 months.

That said, a general concern I have is some of the recent dips in quality in his WW content- Nick becomes a story himself rather than his usual biting commentary. Watching him get in slapfights over and over on twitter and then spend two hours bitching about said slapfights has been embarrassing and I never watch his streams live anymore because I don't want to waste time listening to his new hot gossip. It feels like he's embraced the e-fame a bit much; when I want to see a jaded, angry white man talk shit about idiots online, I've already got Null and Metokur for that.

His recent streams with Kendra and Mark Kern felt like they were back in his strong zone and I hope to see more of that. Nick is entertaining but his core audience is a bunch of nerdy losers who also like to learn. I learned a lot more from Nick's unpolished sputtering rage at Landau than I have from the second half of WW on. The audience who loves the anime drama probably won't stick around regardless of the outcome of the case, so I hope he remembers why people like him before he chases viewers and goes full warski when viewerships starts to slide post WW.

This is actually really good feedback.

So this is my fault for not explaining very well because my brain's been all spaghetti with impending crunch time; his standard format will still be livestreaming, there's no change going on there, it's just no one new is going to watch a 4 hour live stream on a topic they're interested in if they don't know the host. They'd rather sit for a 10-15 minute video or two before they build much interest in the livestreams. The goal I'm working on is to make it so some of those shorter videos are of a higher quality.

It's totally okay to criticize Nick, and I greatly encourage it because how the fuck do you improve otherwise.

I don't argue with every criticism or comparison, I'm just remarking on this trend. It happens from time to time in Nick's thread, and usually has nothing to do with him doing anything lolcow worthy and everything to do with him hosting boring guests or not covering some topic people want him to at the time. Sometimes they do go full cow, but I don't actually see anything about Nick that indicates he's on that path as of now. It just comes off as if people expect slapping the 'cow' tag on someone will turn them into entertainment, even if they're not doing anything to make themselves entertaining (/horrifying).

Well, Nick seems to think the notice of appeal will likely be filed October 24, just as I do, and hinted that he actually knows it will be filed by then. Like me, he's not sure that's actually the deadline, but it appears to be the safest bet considering some level of ambiguity.

Also he's talking about what would be reasonable sanctions, but I think we can anticipate Chupp doing the dumbest, wrongest motherfucking thing imaginable.
