I think it's safe to assume that the feds can deanonymize connections through all the commercial VPN companies if they consider it a national security issue.

That being said for normal internet usage a VPN adds a layer of security that a whole lot of people - basically anyone but the NSA hunting terrorists or Russian/Chinese spies - won't be able to get through.

Incidentally given that VPN connections are so cheap these days, why not set up a parallel VPN.

Also, I'd like to point out that I hate them terrorists, Russians and Chinese and love law enforcement and the state of Israel.

If he doesn't provide them with the information and doesn't appear, he will be in contempt.

I say he just give up what little information he does have in this instance, even if that goes against what Null stands for & sets a dangerous precedent. He didn't give away user info under threats from actual terrorists, he didn't way give user info under legal threats from an entire fucking foreign country, & has had only one data breach in the six years he's run his site, which was a complete accident he felt so shitty about he completely reversed a stance he refused to budge on.
