Games you gave up on.

You know what I gave up on? Games with Ranked Ladders. Even with 70% winrate on most of them I ended up in the "you tried" part of the ladder. For example in League of legends I ended up BRONZE 5 with a 10/10 placements and 80% average winrate. Mind you this has happened in every single game with ranked matchmaking.

I eventually got tired of hearing "you play like a high mmr player why are you in low mmr?"

What could I have possibly done in a past life to deserve this?

Hell, I gave up on achievements that require just about anything to do with ranked ladders.

I already know I'll never get very far in any, because there are already countless people pooping in socks, chugging ritalin and playing 18 hours a day for me to ever have a competitive edge. But pushing me to get anywhere in one for completion's sake? Forget it. Hell, it's stuff like that, that killed my desire to do any achievement hunting. Way too many achievements require crazy amounts of dedication and following guides to a T to be any fun.

Thing is I literally just steamroll drugcucks. Experience in 400 different video games brought me far in the ladder compared to watching twitch streams and taking OTC drugs. But ranked is too time consuming. Winners truly dont do drugs. Doing ritalin to win at video games is like taking steroids in baseball.
 
ARMA2. I gave it a good 15 hours and realized that I hated every moment of it.

Divinity Original Sin 2. "Wow this game is amazing" I thought at first. Then I kept telling myself that as I got more and more bored and frustrated. I usually like slow paced games but this combined glacial progress with brutal combat difficulty. After I escaped Fort Fun I had to turn the difficulty all the way down just to survive regular mob encounters. I realised all my character builds were sub-optimal and that I'd have to start again and replay the 20 hours I'd already played just to get to the same point I was already at which was apparently only about 20 percent of the way through the game. So I just gave up and never played it again.

For what it is worth once you leave the Fort Joy landmass, aka the map you start in not just the prison of Fort Joy, you can freely respec all your characters more or less however you want when you get your ship. This lets you fix your builds to something more optimized for the rest of the game. This took me roughly 30 hours to do.

I have no idea how far you are or what level you are, I got off around level 9 without much issue on classic difficulty and my builds were very limited like water mage, 2h fighter, really basic stuff when everyone should have a decent array of magic because utility spells break fights especially ones involving movement or positioning. If you're not afraid of using guides to help speed up the process of finding exp and doing the quests fast, and as long as you have builds that make some basic sense you should be okay.

You should take up music games. Anything where timing is crucial is dominated by drugcucks, and that whole scene is full of neurotic faggots who pop ADHD medicine and lose their shit when they don't get perfect scores.
 
A lot due to lack of time commitments.

But if I have to pick one, SMTIV. I'm lost, it's been a while since I played it and it has the worst mapping system in the series.

This is pretty much why I gave up on multiplayer games in general, unless I was playing with people I knew. You're up against drug-addled NEETs with the reflexes of fighter pilots who play the game every waking moment. I have things to do, and can only spend so long gaming because I'm an adult with responsibilities. Plus I'm getting on a bit, my reactions are slow, and getting your ass handed to you isn't much fun. I play games to have fun.

If it isn't just lacking twitch skills, it's overcomplicated meta. For strategy games and more PVP-oriented MMOs (like EVE, which I played for years), you pretty much have to follow the most optimal builds and play the most optimal way, or lose. I like games where you can experiment with different approaches and be creative, and the overwhelming majority of multiplayer games aren't well-balanced enough to let you do that. Instead you have to dodge the devs playing whack-a-mole with overpowered builds or strategies, and that's just not what I want in a game.

Drugcucks ruin competitive multiplayer games. Alot of people pull the "ur just bad" card out. But it's annoying to have to predict literally EVERYTHING they do before they do it because they perceive life in fucking Max Payne bullet time.
 
Lagoon: This game has awesome music and I played it back in the day when I was going strong with my video gaming with SNES emulation and JRPGs. However, I failed to realize that beyond the first dungeon, most of the game had really boring and iffy gameplay and graphics.

Final Fantasy Type 0: A game that I can say snookered me because it's not so much an action RPG so much as it's a DEATH SIMULATOR with botched and shitty unoptimized amputated multiplayer, which I have experienced is one of it's major faults. This game requires you to play it over and over again to unlock stuff, and I am not a fan of repetition of this sort. As soon as I beat it and got the good ending, I just up and left like Tabata did last year.
 
Another few I thought of:

Recore: the game was already complete BS with enemies that take off half your health in a single shot, which also stuns you long enough for the second hit to land, and pixel perfect jumping. I got to a point in the final tower where you had to fight about 10 high level enemies in a room with no cover, made it after multiple attempts, then the game glitched out and wouldn't let me proceed. So I decided not to proceed.

Call of Duty 4 on veteran - it wasn't fun, it quickly became a tedious slog. Got to the part in Hunted where you have to get into a building under fire from a helicopter, and after about 50 attempts gave up in sheer frustration.
 
Yakuza 0. "Japanese GTA" my ass. I might go back to finish it eventually though. I even somewhat learned to competently play mahjong (aka poker for autistic chinks) to do the stupid minigame challenges.

Assassins Creed Origins. I spent 100+ hours mindlessly grinding all the terrible side missions and then just... stopped right near the end of the main plot.

Resident Evil 0. I've beaten every mainline RE (even 5 and 6) but I just can't deal with RE0's terrible inventory and dual-character shit.

Hollow Knight. Possibly the most boring Metroidvania I've ever experienced.

Wokenstein II. Although I didn't come close to finishing it because it's a tedious, generic shooter, I was exposed to enough left-wing propaganda during my time with it to inspire me to join my local socialist party and antifa organizations. Bernie 2020.

I didn't mind the dual-character mechanic in RE:0, and the item management, well... the idea that you just can drop any item pretty much anywhere to come back later and pick it up again is kind of neat, if they didn't get rid of the item boxes, it didn't help that weapons like the shotguns and the grenade launcher now take two item slots, because of that shit you have to constantly walk through like half the map in order to get the stuff you need, instead of a couple rooms to reach the nearest item box

and this thing is the worst offender...

A key item that takes two item slots, the game never tells you when you won't need this thing anymore, so i'm pretty sure many people keep the Hookshot in their inventory the whole game in their first playtrhough

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories.

I couldn't wrap my head around the battle system and just stopped when I got to the final area.

Didn't help that in order to get the full experience, I had to play Riku's route as well. No thank you.
 
I just remember that I mentioned dropping Knights of The Old Republic due to finding it too dated, well the same thing happened with another Bioware game in 2013 when I tried to replay Jade Empire.

What makes replaying a dated RPG a sketchy prospect to me is that they are always such time sinks, why play a game you've always played when it's dated and will take up time that could be spent playing newer things?

Ironically I find those old isometric RPGs like Fallout to be less dated than 3D games because those games graphics encouraged you to use your imagination more and thus I'm able to get more immersed.
 
Grand Theft Auto IV. I started it several times and just never get past the first two hours. What happened to the alleyways and rooftops full of weapons? Actually, never mind that. What happened to basic button mapping for punching and kicking? Why am I playing a goddamned Simon puzzle, squeeze the trigger halfway, hold down this button while tapping this one just right, for melee combat? Fuck this game.

Hotline Miami. Maybe because I like level placement that's static and not randomized so I can learn the layout. Also, "it's supposed to be broken on purpose" just isn't the best style of gameplay, at least not for me.

GTAIV has got to be one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history.

V was thankfully such a step up though in my opinion.

I dunno, V started out fine but gradually disappointed me the more it went on. I finished it twice, trying to get as much out of it as I could. Now looking back, I only see its problems over its achievements. Which is a shame because it was the first game I owned that needed a 50 GB install, and that map it came with took up most of my apartment living room at the time. "Holy shit, I'll never get done playing in this world. This is gonna be awesome."

After IV turned out to be such a chore, I hopedV would be a throwback to the PS2 3D era, especially since we were back in San Andreas again. I miss the fun and mayhem of motorcycle leaping over an exploding traffic disaster, then collecting a ton of money just driving around robbing houses and turning gang territory green. I also miss diversions that aren't triathlons and yoga.
