Now's as good a time as any to ask this.

I wasn't following Phil while he was still doing DSP Tries It bullshit, so I don't know how/why it started, but I suppose my most need to know question is 'why'? Why did he think people needed/wanted to know what he thought about all these things that his knowledge of consisted of, at best, what he had read on the back of the box for whatever thing he was cooking or reviewing? Just pure ego? Were the videos actually popular (un-ironically) in terms of views?

I've watched a pretty decent amount of video game playthroughs in my life since I don't care enough to actually play them anymore, but at no time have I ever thought to myself "I wonder what MKIceAndFire thinks about Big Macs".

Darksydemom is going to buy some overpriced Thanksgiving meal from QVC.
QVC will send it to the Burnell Estate, located in the mean streets of Bridgeport, CT.
Darksydemom will then send it to Washington, to the Maison de Gout.
This sounds like a reasonable course of action and doesn't sound convoluted at all.

It's too bad that Darksydemom can't just tip him some money to buy a Thanksgiving meal from someplace local to Renton, because any cash that someone sends DSP is going to get swallowed by "MUH BILLS, DOOD!"

So, this is probably the turkey roast that Darksydemom is planning to order from QVC.

It looks pretty small in the promo picture, but in the video that's embedded in the product page it looks big enough to feed two shut-ins, with maybe some leftover to give to Jasper Two-Stacks as a Thanksgiving Treat.
If DSP's lucky, maybe Darksydemom will step up and pay the extra money to get a side included.

Mama Burnell is buying her baby boy a Thanksgiving feast for the second year in a row. Irrespective, of course, of the fact that he's apparently in danger of losing his house. Who's going to receive all that succulent deliciousness if the pig has already rode his horse into the sunset? The movers? The Men from the bank?

Again, at the risk of being a broken a record, I have to ask, which is more likely: that Phil's mom doesn't know how close to the bleeding edge her only son is, or that this is the most transparent grift in years?

Phrenelith (formally heaving_earth) sucks up to Phil and the mods as if he's part of the team, in the neverending crusade against the trolls. Here he is ridiculing someone who just got banned for having the bravery to speak out against Phil (and without malice) while surrounded by mods. Then he wishes for Phil to ban Chad_Warden and Rumpelstiltzkinz_fan for being mean to him off-stream. All the while, violating the strict rules of not addressing negative detractor shit and harassing other viewers. Being "a very generous contributor to the streams" can buy you impunity against the rules. Fuck the freeloading riff raff. They do sell many thousands of those turkey dinners on QVC though, so it's not like she'd be the only one doing it.

Considering Phil is making $10K a month and still "broke" and the fact he's constantly crying poor, it's possible he's buying it himself and saying his mom did it so he can still beg for money. Phil seems to miss that he looks pathetic no matter which story is true. I guess he doesn't care as long as he gets the money, but still...

I'm not against the idea of parents sending shit every once in a while to their son who's in their late 30's and supports himself well enough, they're still a family after all, even if they might not live in the same place any longer, but the least you can do is help them back as well or something. I never heard Phil talking about helping his parents in any way

Financial support to his parents is out of the question, he's too greedy to give money to them. They live cross state and apparently he can only make time for himself to visit them once every few years and that's usually just for himself (like getting married this year)

That weekly call where he just bitches about not having money and mean people on the internet amounts to nothing

So again, what the fuck does Phil do for his parents (who are supposedly dying)? All he seems to do is shamelessly keep leeching off them despite living cross state (if it were up to Phil he'd say he's not leeching off his parents because they're the ones sending shit to him without him asking, so in theory it's not "leeching", even though he can literally just turn down their gifts)

Personally I can't wait for the dying parents saga, just for the sake of seeing how Phil will handle it. There are plenty of theories I can come up with regarding how Phil will handle it but I don't really feel like listing them all. This saga won't happen for a good few years anyways

What is failure? Personally, I’d like to see Philip after losing both the condos, having been banned from Twitch and any other streaming sites, his computer having finally died from all the dust and lack of updates, his laptop on its last legs just barely able to upload videos to YouTube, him sitting in old room at his parent’s house filming his television with a cheap camcorder. It would be a fitting end to such a modern era.

False! He gave them sound parenting advice when he was 10 years old. He let them use his car when they came to hang his pictures, clean his garage, paint his walls, and prevent his middle unit condo from burning down. He emailed them a very lovely picture of himself and his soulmaid as a Christmas present. He even dealt with bugged airline mechanics, bugged airline food mechanics, and bugged airline internet mechanics, so his parents could see him enter into a loveless marriage and have the opportunity to interact and contribute pahsitively so they could die truly disappointed in their only flesh and blood. DEBUNKED!

I don't think it's that abnormal for parents to do things for their kids even when they're older, like our favourite little streamer here. Like, my grandparents still regularly do/give things to their children even if it's not to the tune of 4000 dollars.

I think it's the concentration and the repetition that's so pathetic. For example: a lot of parents help with wedding money. Weddings are expensive, and there's even tradition in some places that the parents of the bride pay for things. But that's assuming a proper wedding, one where you rent a space for a reception, have to arrange for someone ordained to preform the ceremony, pay for food for somewhere south of 100 people. Parents are happy to do that for their kids since it's a great moment for both the kids and parents and should be a special day for everyone close. Phil had his parents pay a hotel room, a flight, fucking plane wifi, and everything else without even sounding like he offered, and then got shotgun married, likely at a DMV or something equally as sad to show up dressed in a suit to, and then probably had his parents buy him, his horse, and themselves pizza to celebrate.

Obviously, I wasn't there, but my parents wedding reception was in a church basement since neither sides had much money to splash on it, but asking my mom, dad, grandparents, anyone who was there really, talks about how nice it was, and how fun it was. I would love to ask, 5, 10 years down the line how DSP, Kat, or the parents remember the wedding and how many of them would even crack a smile.

Same for the 4k for taxes. I'm sure most of us know people who, if we were really desperate and needed money, or a place to stay, or help of any kind, they'd drop everything to help us. Difference is, for most people I think, even if there was an insistence that there be no reciprocation, it would make us value the person and the relationship we have with them even more. Phil says his mom gave him 4k to bail him out of tax problems (allegedly) but there doesn't seem to be any sort of reverence or desire to reciprocate. He says it like he asked his mom for a couple of bucks for a drink machine, no big deal and no one is that concerned with paying back 2 bucks 50.

But 4k. 4000 dollars. I get blown away by that since I've worked shit paying jobs that that was literally just below half of what I'd make a year. This motherfucker just shrugs it off like it's his due, like of course his parents would give him that much money.

None of this is helped by the fact that these situations are entirely on him and his parents are bailing him out while he keeps punching holes in his own boat. For anyone else, hearing that their parents had done something like paid for their entire wedding, or gave them money to help them pay off debts, that'd be sweet especially since most people at least know how to fake gratitude. Phil doesn't even try, and makes it sound like he demanded it, rather than ask for it.
