SPOOPY 2K19 THE SPOOPENING - Halloween Season!

Santo and Blue Demon in the World of the Dead!
a big ol' pile of weird shit, includes soul transfer possession somethingorothers, past lives with Santo and Blue Demon's ancestors or whatevers in old timey clothes based on their gear, very surreal cinematography at times riding the razor's edge between "artsy" and "cheap", sorta like Coffin Joe/Xe

Santo and Blue Demon in The Beasts of Terror!
cheap Mexican crime drama in early 70s south Florida! Thrill to see Northbound I-95 and those trees that the bark flakes off like paper and other random shit that makes it clear they really are in Florida. Also corpse robbing and wrestlers. I'm about a half hour in and I'm pretty sure Santo isn't really in Florida and they shoot around him.

Witch With Flying Head!
very weird movie of the local folklore thing, gal gets cursed to wander at night as a murderous flying head with all her vital organs dangling beneath the head
also music from other movies

Invitation to Hell!
Wes Craven brings a vision of terror to the made-for-tv-screen! Pretty dull story of COMPUTERS! and a country club that's probably evil or something. Gets goofy enough towards the end to be entertaining. Also it has the guy who played the mean executive in UHF and in was a million other things.

GRAWWWWWW ZOMBIE TRIPLE POST LIKE TRIPLE 666

Sadako vs Kayako! (aka The Ring vs The Grudge)
some people get Ringed so they go to the house the Grudge is at in hopes that the ghosts will fight over who gets to kill the people. more fun if you holler at it like AWWW SHIT YOU GONNA GET GRUDGED!!! AWW SHIT SHE GETTING RINGED!!! and so forth

Biozombie!
from 1998 Hong Kong comes basically Kevin Smith vs George Romero. Two slacker clerks work at a bootleg vcd store at the mall when not running errands as flunkies for local organized crime. Zombies happen.

House!
Not the House who says "it's not lupus" or the movie from the USA in the mid80s with the hand on the video cover, it's the 1977 Japanese exercise in spoop-surrealism. Equal parts comfy and spoopy.

edit House is still cool but that copy shits itself partway through

More audio. Halloween, 1968. Buffalo, NY radio station WKBW aired a modernized version of the Mercury Theater on The Air adaption of The War of the Worlds from 1938. Programming director Jefferson Kaye, who was a fan of that broadcast wondered what The War of the Worlds would sound like if it was made using up-to-date for 1968 radio news equipment, covering the "story" of a Martian invasion. Most radio renditions of the 1938 broadcast were simply script re-readings with different actors or had minor variations to account for different locations. Kaye ended up writing a basic outline of events, not using the original script and had actual WKBW staff and reporters perform as if they were working on just another newscast.

From radio station WUHN in Peoria, Illinois comes an audio drama in a similar manner, another news broadcast starts before the staff realizes there is some sort of zombie outbreak.

A thousand years ago I heard the story of "what's the worst that can happen?"
Seems some station in Central or South America did the WotW thing, and the locals weren't happy about it so they barricaded the station's doors closed, locked the staff in, and burnt the place to the ground

At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul!
This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse!
It's the wacky adventures of Coffin Joe (Zé do Caixão) from Brazil! The local gravedigger guy is determined to have a wife and kids, and he won't slow down his search no matter how much he has to blaspheme god or terrorize the locals!

To be precise, this was in Ecuador in 1949.

Has a new thread been started up for this year or should we just rename this one?
