This whole thing, where questioning site decisions or the mods is met with punishment, is extremely unhealthy. All it does is create a situation where people who question the site's downward trajectory are considered part of the problem, while the biggest ass-kissers thrive and in turn get moderator positions of their own, or at least protected status, no matter how horrific they are as individuals.

This is how you get a tankie genocide denier as a moderator.
This is how you get a fucktard who looked the other way for a child abuser as a moderator.
This is how you get a thin skinned moron who expected ass-pats for doxing a minor as a moderator.
This is how you get a guy who steals several thousand dollars from Rich and then flees to Tahiti as a moderator.
This is how you get a diaper wearing pedophile as a moderator.
This is how you get a child rapist for a moderator.

And so on and so on. Even on hellholes like NeoGAF pre-ResetERA, someone like Amirox was still only a one-time thing. It's pretty appalling, especially when the site built itself off of the claim that it was the only bastion of sanity on the internet.

Even when the proof was undeniable, several goons defended their pedomod and got butthurt that people were paying attention to Something Sensitive even though these idiots could go to the sex offender registry and see for themselves. They hate the message but hate the messenger even more.

The thing is, they’ve learned nothing from all these debacles. Just getting rid of the bad moderators isn’t enough, because there’s a whole slew of equally bad people who spent years kissing moderator ass ready to pick off where the banned guys left off. Which is why, even after people decided that they had enough of R. Guyovich’s many years of unironic Stalinism and LARPing as Lavrentiy Beria, you still have CSPAM mods mentioning how they wish they could’ve banned those evil bullies who drove poor ol Guyovich off the site.

The people complaining in QCS may as well have not have bothered to get rid of Guyovich. Shit, Denyovich himself was humiliated into stepping down voluntarily, and I’m pretty sure if he wanted to stick around and mass ban all his detractors, he could have. Banning him changed nothing.

People tried warning them about the pedomod too, for a while. It wasn’t until people offsite started noticing that they took action. And in spite of that banning absolutely nothing changed afterwards, or else they wouldn’t have been so shocked over all the revelations about Shmorky. You know, in spite of Encyclopedia Dramatica knowing he was a diaperfur years beforehand.

There was also a thing SA used to do on it’s front page, where Zack Parsons would rate and review hentai games back when the site was sponsored by J-List, and even had referral links to the fucking games. After about a year after the Aatrek stuff, around 2014 or so, someone found out that one of those reviews was for a game where the characters in question were minors, and realized that there were sexually explicit drawings of children on their front page, ala Kotaku’s recent fuckup. And thought that maybe they shouldn’t have that shit up there and that it also shouldn’t include a link for goons to buy that shit.

Rather than just remove the review, Lowtax instead went on a big meltdown, claiming that anyone who was offended were just pretending, in order to score points against him and SA. Anyways as far as I know both the review and referral links are still up.
