UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Porn blocker is dead:

Note how they mention the upcoming "duty of care" laws at the end and how porn sites will be at full mercy of the government. I'm betting it's going to be rolled into that and this is a (((diversion tactic))). Typical BBC.

If they do, expect the upcoming bypass program to look and sound like this:

All that would do would be to drive the few remaining British porn sites offshore. Without a blocker, they have no way of forcing foreign-based sites to do what they want. There's already next to no porn industry in the UK as it is so ludicrously over-regulated (archaic obscenity laws, the "extreme porn" regulations that effectively banned all fetish porn) that nobody wants what it produces. Plus who wants to see dumpy British chicks naked anyway?

Even as the old porn blocker proposals stood, they wouldn't cover sites that aren't primarily pornographic but that contain adult material (Adult Twitter, Deviantart, Tumblr before it committed suicide or a dozen more) or any non-commercial sites (including ad-supported sites), torrenting, chans, or any other ways of looking at internet poon that I can't think of right now. And that's before you consider VPNs, TOR, or any other technical way of defeating an IP block.

Rule #1: People are, and always will be, horny. You're pitting politicians, the kind of people who have their network passwords on a post-it note on their monitor and who ask their secretaries to print out their email, against the combined horniness and technical know-how of 10 million teenagers. It's no fucking contest and it never will be.

Maybe? I think it's still in development hell.
It's either been replaced by or is integrated into the internet "duty of care" laws.

It's worth noting that the Scottish goverment's definition of "Psychological Abuse" is so wide and openly rigged it includes asking your girlfriend not to fuck other men. I am dead serious when I say that, look it up.
Sturgeon even mentioned gaslighting as psychological abuse but what really annoyed me (And annoys me in general whenever it’s brought up in this way) was when she started talking about the despicable rape clause in the child benefit scheme, as if having an exception for rape victims is a bad thing, it’s pure political grandstanding in an attempt to emotionally blackmail the government into dropping the child welfare limit. (On that note the SNP will soon be having unlimited child benefits in Scotland)

Yes, she broke her shin in two places playing on a bounce castle surrounded by water.

I'm sure this is ompletely unrelated:

Hmm, no company logo. (((Who))) did this? (Could be a parody like the "I won't confront the state" signs, the london gov't would be all over themselves trying to place their logo as visibly as possible)

In all seriousness, London is a prototype for the megacities. Had the displeasure of going there recently and saw like 2 white people outside of the convention area. Some subhuman was pretending to have a limp and scrounging for money at an intersection.

Used to go for the MCM expo back when tickets were less then £30 for the weekend but London is probably one of the worst places I’ve ever been and I’ve had to change flights in Atlanta.

I’ve got no plans of ever going back there even if my locals cons are crappy as anything.

No it isn't.

He ran over a Trick or Treater. That's a Hallowe'en thing.
They say it's a trick or treater, but that strikes me as the opinion of someone who hasn't grasped how people normally dress around there. Remember, this is the city that still thinks an afro and a shell suit is classy evening wear.
