Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

rebellious story, also curious on the consensus of her. does anything think there’s any validity to anything?

Personally I think she is currently dealing with a spiraling case of poly pharmacy, obesity and unneeded medical treatment (is tube feeds, IV saline, IV steroids, epi pens, etc.) She has listed among her many many ailments Hashimotos, which I don’t doubt- thyroid disease is so common among female patients. She’s quick to dismiss it but it very likely could have caused many of her original symptoms- but it wasn’t serious enough or got enough interventions, so here we are.

im not that medical savvy when it comes to CCI but once a surgeon touches you especially with spinal surgery, it’s difficult to find someone to clean up the mess. Henderson is one of 3 doctors in the US that operates on EDS patients with “CCI.” He will diagnose anyone with CCI and tell them they need surgery. There’s a reason that these people are only getting surgery with these doctors and that surgeons at the big, academic hospitals aren’t doing the surgeries. Do some of them truly have instability? Sure. Is it enough to warrant surgery? Probably not. Once you fuse part of the spine, the instability starts to move down. This is why they end up with repeat surgeries and the need for a full spinal fusion.

there’s another girl who has had multiple surgeries from the guy in NY and hasn’t been able to walk.

I’ve always wondered why he operates out of a random community hospital and not one of the MANY academic medical institutions in the area. I bet he’s diving into swimming pools of money at this point.

curious on the lack of Skinwalker material?

is this for real? 🤣 stop it.

If by Skinwalker you mean Amanda Winig, she's totally on lockdown now and my leaks are hesitant to provide any updates that are worth sharing/can be shared without her realizing who they are. But I can say she's still ridiculously skinny and shakes like a chihuahua and has been called out for her obvious eating disorder by at least some of her friends. For a while anyone who criticized her was accused of being me.

Oh and someone in Central Florida maybe saw her out in public recently with her service dog, wheelchair, and her fatass mom using her "retired" owner-trained dog for god knows what reason, doing something extremely entitled that inconvenienced a shit ton of people in a very crowded place. :)

there is a Henderson favorite among the EDS fans, a young woman named Christina who is an artist. She does not appear to be OTT or attention seeking in any way (and seems to have a life outside her illness) BUT she has let him slice her open multiple times. This young woman has had her spine fused at 17 levels- yes, you read that right/ 17. There is a photo on her Instagram of her massive scar if anyone would like to be horrified by his healing powers.

any of the medical savvy farmers on here that can shed light on how legit his practices and treatments are?

His credentials in neurosurgery are legitimate, sure, but the surgery in question is obviously controversial if only a few doctors are doing it and it’s not covered by insurance (assuming private insurance works the same over there). I can’t deny that he’s a munchie magnet either, I’m going to take a guess and say that he probably overuses self reported symptoms to make a clinical diagnosis on the regular. Quite alarming considering the treatments for some of the things he diagnoses and that his demographic also happens to be full of known liars.

Was there much talk about one of his protégés who also offered these surgeries before going to jail after murdering his wife in front of their children? A couple of media outlets perked up over some noise about what to do with his super special fragile patients awaiting surgery like this woman, which is where the connection to Henderson is made. The linked article seemed to read as a bit self entitled which was what initially attracted my attention. The woman mentioned has a now defunct gofundme with walls of text about dysautonomia and EDS but her Facebook and Instagram accounts have gone quiet in relation to most things medical and she seems to be leading a normal life after her surgery, thankfully (well...hopefully). So maybe some of them actually do work when they’re needed?

My guess is probably as good as Henderson’s judgement in character though. :D

Considering he's partner in a private practice medical group, probably.

The thing about private practice and why it doesn't really work for neurosurgery is that you need a referral stream. You can go private practice as, say, a cosmetic surgeon or a dermatologist because patients self-refer. Most people don't wake up one day and decide they need a physician to rummage around in their brain. Unless, of course, you work your way into a pool of patients for whom that's their life goal. AKA munchies.

It still doesn't make much sense to me because outpatient surgical procedures are where the profit is. Surgical center fees are ridiculous even at community hospitals. I guess he found his grift and he's sticking to it though.

Hashimotos, which I don’t doubt- thyroid disease is so common among female patients. She’s quick to dismiss it but it very likely could have caused many of her original symptoms- but it wasn’t serious enough or got enough interventions, so here we are.
Hashimotos doesn't need much in the way of interventions, as it is ridiculously easy to treat: Take a pill once a day. Have your thyroid levels checked if you start to feel like the medication isn't helping properly, the doctor will adjust the medication level accordingly.

I'm sorry America, I love you all, but your health care system is a shit sandwich. Us Canadians aren't perfect and certainly have doctor shoppers, drug seekers, munchies, and MBP but those fuckers have a hell of a lot more work to do to get their end game. Doctor shopping is possible but you've got to have a really fucking good hustle to get anything more than SSRIs and the odd benzo. Self-referring to specialists without a GP is just insanity to me - How on God's green earth can someone self-refer to some morally dubious butcher who won't accept insurance and is willing to hack up your fucking spine because of your minor ouchie? I don't pretend to fully understand the intricacies of US healthcare (and frankly I'm too fucked up right now to even try) but at least most of our corrupt doctors just get involved in illegal opiate trafficking instead of that Jigsaw shit.

Just to clarify I don't intend to derail with "muh country's better" shit slinging, so please don't take it that way, it's just interesting to me how the American system seems very conducive to munchie abuse. Wrangling money out of insurance for dumb shit and unnecessary tests must be far more lucrative than trying to stretch set government funding as far as possible without letting anyone die too horribly.

Also we don't put fat fucks on TPN. 🇨🇦

I grew up in a 'socialised healthcare' country, and now live there again after living in the US for a decade. When I had great insurance in the US, I loved it - I had a PPO plan so I could self-refer to any specialist whenever I felt like it, and it was very, very easy to get fun drugs (I was younger then, so I only saw the good side of being able to refer myself to a psych who would write me up for Adderall, Valium/Xanax, Ambien, and whatever other drugs I sometimes found useful to get me through my very busy life.)

Now I'm back in sensible land and I can get in to see a GP tomorrow, but if I wanted any of those drugs (the ones that aren't banned here, anyway) I'd need a GP's referral to a psychologist first, then likely several months of therapy before the psychologist might write me a referral to a psychiatrist who could actually prescribe meds. The problem is I don't actually have any psych problems - my US psych wrote me Adderall because 'it helped me focus on work' and benzos 'to help with my fear of flying,' there was never any suggestion from either of us that I actually had ADHD or a genuine anxiety disorder. Just 'mother's little helpers'...

So, no more easy drugs for me, bummer (not actually true, I travel back to the US often and still see the same psych, he takes $100 cash since I don't have insurance anymore and writes me for at least six months' worth of all the good stuff)- but in general, needing a referral to a specialist makes sense and it's insane that PPOs like mine would have let me book an appointment with anyone for a $5 copay - IMO the only specialist anyone should be able to self-refer to is a psychologist/psychiatrist, simply because not everyone wants to tell their GP (especially in a small town where they might know them socially) that they're having mental health problems - but a cardiologist? A neurosurgeon? An infectious diseases (i.e. Lyme, without the woo) specialist? Of course, these should be 'gatekept' by GPs and/or the emergency room. It's no wonder healthcare expenses in the US are so out of control when my plan would have let me go waste any brilliant specialist's time just for kicks whenever I felt like it.

Apart from privacy re: mental health care, the only argument in favor of being able to self-refer to specialists is that some people truly are zebras (and I get it, I had three doctors write off my very serious heart condition when I was younger as "anxiety" before one took it seriously and got me an ECG and a 24-hour Holter monitor - and I was in surgery just two days later for the first of several operations to fix it.) Still, that was mostly my fault - I was young, I'd just moved away from home and didn't have a regular GP who'd seen me before, and my heart condition was zebra territory - nowadays I do have a local GP who knows me and that I'm a reliable/credible 'historian' when it comes to how I'm feeling, and for anything out of the ordinary, they've had all the right referrals and tests scheduled for me straight away. I do often hear complaints about male GPs, especially, being dismissive of women's pain or physical symptoms as 'stress/anxiety'... but if your GP doesn't take you seriously, ask your friends and family for a recommendation and find one who does. If no GP takes your symptoms seriously, the problem is probably not with them...

It's also cultural. In this country, if you'd tried every doctor and hospital in your area and not one believed your disease/symptoms were real, the people around you would be urging you to see a psychologist, not raising $40k for you to go waste the resources of the Mayo Clinic or the like. We do have quack naturopaths in private practice (not covered by Medicare-for-all or most private 'extras' health plans), but when you meet someone who swears their naturopath cured their 'systemic candida' or 'adrenal fatigue' or whatever you just nod and smile and think 'good for you, placebos are awesome, whatever gets you through the day.' (If the quack tells them they 'need' more than one or two appointments or some $$$ OTT supplement regime? Intervention time.) Quack private surgeons and quack 'lime literate' medical doctors? They don't exist here, they'd lose their licenses.

I also wonder how much of the US healthcare excess is end-of-life care... Americans really hate dying. In my country, if someone is on life support and they're not going to 'come back' or get better, it's rarely even an argument - you pull the plug, knowing that's what they would have wanted. In the US I saw friends keeping braindead elderly relatives on life support for months 'hoping for a miracle,' and ending up with a million-dollar bill. Or with cancer - here, if one last round of chemo or radiation might keep you alive just a little bit longer but you're going to feel wretched the whole time, the vast majority of people say 'no thanks, ready to go' and have a peaceful goodbye with their families. In the US, if it will keep you alive another day, who cares if that day sucks, your family will remember you vomiting and moaning in pain, and it will cost them $40k after you're gone... I don't want to be dead! I'll take it!

"Hey,

I tried to get an account over there cause y'all are finally talking about my FAVORITE OTT person, but didn't get approved so I figured I would tell you a few things about her. @thirsttrap12345 mentioned her as "a Henderson favorite among the EDS fans, a young woman named Christina who is an artist. She does not appear to be OTT or attention seeking in any way". OMFG that is soooooooo far from true! that might be how it looks based on her insta, but her fucking YT is insane! her user name over there is Christina Doherty (I assume that's her IRL name too). She's done at least one GFM for $75k (got almost $45k). There is a FB group called Prayers for Christina that posts a shitton of stuff too. Right now she's in hospital & septic from her port."

Haven't vetted, just got off a plane and catching up on the ole' inbox.

Shit if she's septic she might die before Kate gets the goods! Godspeed KFS!
I actually just realized who she is. I used to follow her and yeah, her whole life revolves around being sick and getting surgery. I never watched her too closely because she was boring. She might have even been brought up here before. Her insta is watercolor_me_impressed.

Like, her last insta photo (other than a giveaway for a tee shirt that says "Standing is my Cardio: Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome" where the model is also holding a neck brace, apparently someone called "grace and brace" on Etsy) is of her laying on the ground in 80 braces after falling. Like photos of her laying on the ground with medics around her then photos of her hospital bed with leaves that fell off her shirt. Before that, a photo about awareness where she's wearing 500 of those ring splints and before that a photo of her back covered in surgical scars bragging that she has the longest wound her surgeon has ever seen.

Sounds pretty OTT to me, fam.

Collecting receipts but can't promise fast turnaround, I'll be busy as hell the next 8 days or so.

Edit to add: holy hell, she makes every single event about her health. Smiling photo at a wedding? "I passed out six times after this was taken and needed to be in my wheelchair the rest of the week but it was worth it!" Mom's birthday? "I feel terrible, I am not doing well at all, but at least I'm not in the hospital right now like I was this time last year so i can paint her this card."

edit 2: I picked a youtube video at absolute random and I am in awe.

DAAMMMMN. KFS thank you for being the Reddit/Farms bridge and bringing us this treat for the weekend. Also my apologies for not doing due diligence. I only briefly glanc at this chick’s IG when I’m checking out how many new surgeries she’s gotten with Henderson. I need to brush up on my skills and check out the YouTube.

also apologies for that double post the other day, I was proud of myself for adjusting to KW culture but clearly I’m still flawed.

Hey man I had passed her over too. She looked like your typical "zebra" who bought a bunch of sick girl crap on Etsy to me but now I feel like I hit some kind of jackpot. Whiny vlogs, whiny captions, OTT photos, every toy, all her friends are spoonies, can't eat, feeding tube and major allergies from MCAS!!!! but can eat high-fiber protein cookie ice cream sandwiches she made (wtf?) and on top of that tries to do the quirky free spirit thing but also shills for every company that caters to the spoonies.

I love her.

EDIT: Alright question for anyone more versed in hEDS than me: This bitch hand embroiders all the goddamned time and sells her shit on etsy, and she embroiders through denim and thick canvas and shit. She also crochets and knits. I'm a fan of needlework but even using regular Aida cloth (has big, wide holes so the needle has almost no resistance going through the cloth) with no problems with my joints I end up only being able to work for a short while before my hands are like "lol stop now". How in the balls can someone with such awful hEDS that she needs brace on every single part of her body do this for a living? She complained that it took her four days just to wind floss on cards and organize it in a box. But she can like, make blankets on commission.

I don't wanna outright be like "nope no way in hell" but... sounds off to me.

oh gosh I know her. I searched her here when I first joined the farms and couldn't find anything (or on reddit). Might be a powerlevel but I started following her on youtube when my munchie mom was trying to convince me I had EDS (newsflash: I don't, it's arthritis). She's been up to this for a while, because that was when I was in hs.

Sounds very off. I don't know anyone with joint problems who can do those things. 30 mins tops at a time. BUT if she takes many breaks in a day and ONLY does that then yeah it might be possible?

Sarah-Jean doesn't like that people aren't gently kissing her ass and telling her she's a strong brave fighter.

She doesn't want to vlog anymore because her engagement from followers is mostly negative
-Two commenters on her last vid (the only two commenters) called her out for having a poster that said "cancer survivor" on it when she never had cancer, just precancerous cells. She says this poster was so people could sign it if they knew someone with cancer, and she just didn't have room to put an "s" after "survivor". Claims she didn't even notice it was in the background but clearly framed the shot to get that in.

Screen Shot 2019-11-02 at 03.22.01.png

-She doesn't like drama and it pisses her orf that we live for it
-She doesn't know what people want because if she makes a video when she's sick people say she's faking it and if she makes a normal vlog people aren't interested and think she's faking because she's not acting sick enough. (Hint: all your followers are hate-watchers who want sickface content. No one cares about you as a human.)
-Doing makeup for a wedding.
-vlogging while driving again.
-she actually has a job and is starting tomorrow, but then reminds us that she's merely giving it a try. Not that she doesn't think it'll work but she also doesn't not think it's going to work. In other words, setting up for the "I'm too sick! I tried but I'm JUST TOO SICK!"
-Forces Freckles to go grocery shopping. As per usual, she's panting and darting her head around the entire time and clearly anxious as all hell. Still fat.
-Sickface "I'm so tired" monologue. Made pizza but didn't eat it, just drank water and going to run her fluids overnight. Exhawrsted and going to sleep now.

Edit to add: I browsed the comments and found her just absolutely loving this comment about POTS being so much worse than cancer.

Screen Shot 2019-11-02 at 03.57.36.png

In other munchie news, after 412 days in the hospital and 10 bouts of sepsis, Paige Donovan-Smith is now in an end-of-life care facility with multiple abx-resistant superbugs and is still fucking with her lines and wounds. And doctors can now extract more pus than urine from her body. If I can't unread it, neither can you.

Since moving, she's enjoyed some lovely GP friendly meals and a nice swim with a bunch of gnarly wounds and lines before she inevitably Jaquies herself.

And a visit from a dog which is very sanitary. And what looks like an empty diet coke bottle in her trash.
Screen Shot 2019-11-02 at 02.51.54.png

And then of course she puked up her NJ tube because why not, and then the next one "kinked".

And then she fell and RIPPED OUT HER SUPRA PUBIC CATHETER.

holy shit she designed her own personalized temporary tattoo listing all her medical issues and ports and lines...that’s next level

The OR staff probably thought she was nuts when she was wheeled in with her medical history pasted to her arm

instagram account @RAISINGLIBERTY or new and current username @magically.mozart on the radar for anyone? This girl used to claim RA/Lupus/Chronic Lyme and seems to have morphed completely into Dysautonomia and Seizures and whatever else with T-LITE wheelchair. Rumored to have been seen with a central line. She seems to be friends with the Florida munchbunch and used to train dogs for some service dog business which I think is the one Skinwaller and DisabledHippie got their animals from unknown on that though. Now is so terribly ill that she kept the last dog for her own service dog. Another patient of QMB? Has a very large social media following. Her dog is friggen cute though.

But she is still very sick, guys. Don't question the troof.
