WEBTOON's ever-expanding lineup of original properties have a new way to shine

Crunchyroll and digital comics publisher WEBTOON have announced a strategic partnership that aims to develop and co-produce original animated content. Projects will be based on WEBTOON's expansive catalog of properties, and both companies will team up to handle the distribution, licensing, and retail of each new series.



Here's what Crunchyroll General Manager Joanne Waage had to say about the partnership:



“We are extremely excited to be partnering with WEBTOON … WEBTOON has a tremendous catalogue of content and creators that resonate deeply with our audience and we can’t think of a better way to delight fans than by bringing these stories to life through animation.”



WEBTOON SVP of IP Development Taylor Grant commented on the announcement:



“There is tremendous crossover appeal with our audiences … and exceptional creative synergy on the types of stories we want to tell. We’re excited to partner with Crunchyroll to bring our globally appealing characters to audiences and consumers in new ways, as well as create new opportunities for our talented creators.”

Webtoon likes to do this thing where they promote western artists, they have this canvas (formerly discover) program where popular comics get a chance at becoming featured and gettinga constant livable salary, the result is shitty tumblr teir art because thats the best the west has to offer, that and the webtoon team doesn't translate all Korean webtoons.
This canvas feature is also in korea.

It was suppose to release in 2019 but no news since the outrage has come so I assume it been cancelled or pushed back later until people forgot it existed entirely to release it

High Guardian Spice is the example of what happens when you let fudgepacking amorphous blobs of overexposed mutated growth hormones who never took a fucking clue about what makes anime and manga what it is by study and discourse to make their own "cultural un-encroaching" weeaboo toons before it is soaked in their gluten free faggot juice.

Even amerime shows like My Life Me and dare I even tread on it, Teen Titans were more rooted in anime and manga discourse than High Guardian Spice. Those actually had some thought and love put into them.
